Surprises after surprises

Upon arriving in front of Chaewon's apartment. She stops herself from unlocking the front door as she turns around to look at her girlfriend who in return looked curious. “Did you forget something?” She asked. Chaewon shakes her head and feels as though her words were stuck on as she fiddles with the hem of Kazuha's sweater that she had stolen the last time had slept over at the younger's place. “I was wondering when you'll be free again.” She mumbled, her face beet red she wondered to herself if she was either embarrassed or flustered. “Hmm,” Kazuha ponders to herself as she quickly grabs her phone to check her calendar. She smiles and Chaewon waits patiently for her response. “Okay so, I'll be free tomorrow, is tomorrow fine?” She asks as she chucks her phone back inside her pants' pockets. She watched as all the nervousness drained from her girlfriend as excitement replaced the emotion. “Really?!” She exclaimed. Despite how dim the lighting was from the outside of Chaewon's apartment Kazuha could faintly see Chaewon's eyes that sparkled, excitement and joy mixed together. “Yes, really.” She answers. Kazuha finds it endearing whenever she sees Chaewon in this state. How giddy she looks, how one glance was enough for someone to know what her emotions were. “If that's the case, there's this one place I want to go with you tomorrow.” There was something about Chaewon's smile that Kazuha can't specifically pinpoint.

Despite being at a loss for words to explain this feeling she has for Chaewon, there was one thing Kazuha was certain of and it was how fast her heart beats upon the sight of Chaewon. It wasn't just her smile, it was also her voice how when happy or mad its a pitch higher than intended. When she's nervous or worried her voice becomes slightly muffled as if something had covered . It wasn't just her voice but it was also the way she delivers those words. How each word that falls out of her pretty lips is accompanied with a tone that could make things easier for Kazuha to understand as to whether she meant it this way or that way.

Chaewon's little gestures were Kazuha's favorite. Whenever Chaewon explains things to Kazuha, she would have this tendency of waving her arm around as if to illustrate her explanation out of thin air. “Can I ask where it is?” Kazuha asks. She reaches out to grab one of Chaewon's hands as she peppers her knuckles with light kisses. It was a gesture that became something they both do when the other gets uncontrollably excited. “But first, baby, why don't you calm down before explaining.” She whispers, continuing to pepper her girlfriend's knuckles with kisses, she looks up to see how flustered her adorable girlfriend was. Mouth agape, trying to let the words escape but nothing comes out as she looks anywhere but Kazuha. “That's not fair.” Chaewon pouts as she lightly bites on the inside of her cheeks. “What's not fair?” Kazuha plays dumb, she knows just as much how her actions affect the older.

“You're such a .” She randomly throws a tease at Kazuha whose smile doesn't waver. “A romantic one at least.” Her grin widens. “One that's yours too.” Kazuha places down her girlfriend's hands as she rests hers on Chaewon's waist. “So you were saying? Where and what time are we meeting?” Kazuha asks as she kisses Chaewon's forehead softly. “Just here at 4 pm.” Chaewon explains trying to playfully slap Kazuha's shoulder. “You sure get really clingy when you me home.” Chaewon coos as she pinches both Kazuha's cheeks, earning a pout from her. “Hearing you call me clingy makes me want to throw up.” Kazuha jokes back. “Do your friends even know how clingy you are with me?” Kazuha looks at her horrified with the idea of her friends knowing. “It took so long for me to explain to them I didn't want any sort of physical touch from them, it would be the end of me if they found out I'm like this to you.” Kazuha whines, this makes Chaewon laugh at how adorable her girlfriend was. “Besides you're special, you're not on the same level as my friends.” Kazuha whispers as she cups Chaewon's face, her thumb caressing Chaewon's cheeks.

“You're my girlfriend after all.” She grins. Chaewon feels like melting upon hearing those words. She should've been used to this by now but each time Kazuha would be romantic and gentle just like this moment, she can’t help but fall in love even more. “You’re so cheesy.” Chaewon playfully punches Kazuha’s shoulder who in return pretends that Chaewon had punched her hard. “Hey, that hurt.” She pouts before a smile breaks from her lips. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” Kazuha says expectantly and Chaewon nods her head. “Yeah, see you tomorrow.” She confirms as she watches Kazuha’s smile widen. She watches as Kazuha places her hands inside the pockets of her jacket, waving goodbye before walking away.

Tomorrow arrived a lot earlier than both expected. Perhaps it was the excitement that had caused time to speed up. Regardless they were both glad that before they knew it, it was almost time for their date. Kazuha arrives minutes before they leave, a bouquet in her hand. “What’s this for?” Chaewon was amazed by the bouquet and how pretty the flowers were as she received them. “Nothing, just felt like buying you one.” Kazuha shrugs before planting a kiss on her girlfriend’s cheeks. “My baby deserves the best after all.” Chaewon could feel her thoughts go haywire as she malfunctions at whatever Kazuha had done. “Shall we go?” Kazuha asks, Chaewon comes back to reality as she looks at Kazuha. “Yeah let’s go. I already booked us a ride.” The bouquet on her right hand never left her grasp as she had accidentally brought it with her. “Are you going to bring it with us?” Kazuha points at the bouquet, it was only then Chaewon had realized. “I guess I will?” Chaewon questions, Kazuha could only nod her head.

Kazuha still had no idea where they were going. All the places they went past were familiar but not a single location came into mind as she knew the most she can do now is just patiently wait for them to arrive.

As if on cue, the car halts to a specific location. Kazuha’s eyes widened when she realized where they were. “So I know that it’s been a while since we last ate outside, so I thought we could visit-”

“The first place we went when we made things official.” Kazuha finishes and Chaewon nods her head excitedly. “Yeah exactly!” She claps as she reaches for Kazuha’s hand. “But why?” Kazuha asks, she looks at her girlfriend before grinning. “I saw you tweeting about wanting to come back here.” Chaewon felt proud of herself as Kazuha’s eyes sparkled. “That tweet was months ago!” She exclaimed and Chaewon laughed. “It would’ve happened sooner if we both weren’t so busy.” Kazuha couldn’t believe how thoughtful her girlfriend was as they both entered the restaurant.

When they were seated, nostalgia was hitting them both. It felt like they were suddenly there the first time. “Remember when you couldn’t stop stuttering while ordering?” Chaewon teased which in return Kazuha groaned in response. “Oh c’mon let go of that already!” Kazuha felt embarrassed. Her cheeks turned red as she remembered how flustered she was seeing Chaewon in an outfit that made her feel like she was underdressed. “Don’t worry, I already ordered while I was reserving a seat.” Chaewon grabs a hold of Kazuha’s hand. This time Chaewon’s the one that kisses Kazuha’s knuckles. “There’s also another surprise.” And right on time, Chaewon’s surprise arrives as their waiter comes back with a bouquet. “You’re not the only one full of surprises, zuha.” She proudly says as Kazuha’s eyes widen at the sight of the bouquet. “Wait, aren't bouquets like this expensive?” While holding the bouquet Kazuha observes the flowers and the wrapping. “It’s what you deserve as well, you know.” Chaewon winks. Kazuha melts as she fights every urge to not kiss Chaewon here in public.

Eventually the food slowly arrived as they ate while chatting. Catching up on things that they’ve forgotten to tell the other, laughing at the jokes or remarks the other makes. It felt nice. After having to go through a hectic schedule, finding free time to rewind like this was almost rare. Kazuha made sure to make use of it.

When they had left the restaurant, Kazuha felt bummed out at how fast time flew. She wanted to stay longer inside the restaurant savoring the moment as she knew that the next time she was free was going to be a month later. “Hey, don’t look so sulky there’s still one more place we need to go to.” Chaewon chuckles when she sees how pouty Kazuha was. Chaewon looks around making sure that there weren’t any people nearby before quickly pecking Kazuha’s lips. This stuns the younger as she places a finger on her lips. She slowly looks at Chaewon, her finger still on her lips. “Did.. did.. you..” Kazuha was malfunctioning and this makes Chaewon laugh as she nods her head, beckoning her girlfriend to finish her sentence. “Yes, I did.” Chaewon answers and with that response Kazuha’s face turns even redder than before. “No fair! You did it so suddenly.” Kazuha pouts. “Take it as one of my surprises then.” Chaewon takes a hold of Kazuha’s hand before they start walking. “I’m sure you’ll love the next place.” Chaewon whispers. “It’s the park isn’t it?” Kazuha guesses and this time Chaewon is the one pouting. “Boooo you just ruined the surprise.” Chaewon says disappointingly. “I know this road very well babe, of course I’m bound to realize where we’re heading.”

Chaewon rolls her eyes. “Alright, alright you win.” Kazuha pats Chaewon’s head. “Win? What win? We weren’t competing in the first place, darling.” Chaewon mumbles something but it was inaudible for Kazuha but she had decided to let it slide as they continued their way to the park. It was already past 7 pm, lamp posts were one as they took a stroll around the park. There were people laying on the grass, there were some who sat on benches and some who were also strolling down. It felt calming. Having Chaewon beside her felt soothing, she felt like she could get away from all the responsibilities being dropped on her as she allows herself to relax while holding her girlfriend’s hand tightly. “It’s been awhile since we got to relax like this right?” Kazuha was impressed at how timely Chaewon’s words were. “Your expression was making things obvious as to what you were thinking.” Chaewon explains and Kazuha feels her heart skip a beat as she knew how observant her girlfriend was. “Nothing may beat our home dates, but this,” Kazuha looks around. “It just might be at the same level as our home dates.”

“I’m glad I made you feel that way.” Chaewon felt proud with how successful her plan was in making her girlfriend feel at peace. After minutes of walking, they both had decided to sit down on the grass and this allowed them to admire the stars. With their shoulders touching and hands intertwined, there was nothing more Kazuha could ask for. “Chaewon unnie.” It sounded a lot softer than Kazuha expected as she looked at Chaewon who continued to gaze at the stars. Kazuha’s breath felt as though it was taken as she admired how Chaewon looked. With the moon, stars and faint light of the lamp post, Chaewon still continued to shine brightly in Kazuha’s perspective. She was in love with Chaewon. “Unnie.” She calls out again, this time Chaewon looks at her and Kazuha falls in love even more. The lighting had highlighted Chaewon’s features, how her eyes looked much brighter now that she was facing her, how her moles were scattered around her features just like the stars above them. Chaewon felt like a distant star. “I love you.” She whispers dreamily. “Thank you for today.” She adds, Chaewon couldn’t help but feel tears welling up. “I love you too.” Her voice breaks and this worries Kazuha. “Why are you crying?” Kazuha panics as she quickly grabs tissues from her bag. “I’m just so happy right now.” Chaewon chokes out a cry as Kazuha hugs her. “I’m happy right now too.” She admits, and this makes Chaewon cry even more. “Unnie!” Kazuha starts to panic even more. “I love you so much, Kazuha.”

“I love you too, Chaewon unnie.”

There was nothing more that Kazuha could ask for as having Chaewon beside her was much more than enough.
