Description
why take the stairs?
With 130 floors, above ground parking, and a variety of facilities, the Nature, culture and technology (NCT) building of seoul boasts premium living at a reduced cost. There is no penthouse privilegE here, instead we offer a three tiered communal garden with space for growing flowers, herbs and potted vegetables. Personal sized Washer-dryers are permitted, but large-load laundry can be done in laundry rooms on every tenth floor. the 11th and 12th floors are dedicated to daycare, crèche, and babysitting services; while the 13th to 17th offer tutoring, study groups, and home-office spaces. Floor 18 consists of music and recording rooms, as well as instrument and equipment rental; while on floor 19 you can find meditation, yoga, a mini spa, and wellbeing groups.
Feat. mari and friends
This story will be a non-idol AU, centered around "mari hartley" and her 3-6 friends. Mari moves into the Nature, culture, and technology building (nct), apartment 'b' on the 127th floor. She often has her friends over to her place as she's quite a homebody (not hikikomori THOUGH). after her friends' eLevATOR encounteRs, they find more reasons to visit. Mari is the only one from the friend group living in the ncT apartment building, but That doesn't mean she'll be the only one living in the building throughout the story (you can always mention if YOUR chara is thinking of moving out of tHEir family home, is sick of living in a dorm, is the type to move in with a boyfriend really fast, etc).

Here come the obligATory do's and don'Ts...
☆ Do be polite and respect OTHER writers and their creations; don't be rude, crude or offensive.
♤ Do put as much info as you can about your character; don't go too far into their backstory and history if its not important. this is more of a casual fic.
♡ Do include languages (and music tastes if you want), but don't turn it into an idol app. i don't want to see any idol trainees or aspiring actresses.
◇ Do add things that i didn't (like expanding family and/or friends) if it actually helps explain your CHARACTer; doN't make them be related to a celeb or use idols/top actors as friend/family faceclaims.
♧ do try to be unique, but don't make it hard to believe. for example: a student from Malaysia who decided to move to South Korea to study and got their webtoon picked up, that's great. But a half-brazilian, half-icelandic catwalk model who met mari in the airport is too much of a stretch.
♤ do include all facts that i have (likes, skills, occupation, etc); don't leave out how your character *might* have met mari. I may need to refer to it, or i may tweak it (with your permission and collaboration).
♡ do submit multiple charas if you want to and managed to get inspired. don't let it affect quality; You probably won't get more than one chosen.
◇ do add a translation for anything you include in another language (for example a french nickname, a Vietnamese phrase, etc); don't feel pressured to add in anYthING other than romanised script (like Hangeul, hanja, kanji, traditional, or simplified Chinese characters, hiragana, katakana, or Thai script). If you want to and can, that's up to you.
♧ do ask if you want/need more info on mari and/or the nct building; don't feel like you need to research seoul to get things right like real places to go and fields of study in local universities. I'm not from Korea, never been to Seoul, I'm just making a fun fic.
☆ do have fun, and don't stress about it. I might cameo all applicants (since i doubt I'll get tons).
♤ Do create a new character if you can, don't worry if you only haVE time to rework an old character. But please don't Use a character that has been chosen for another fic.
☆ DO PUT YOUR FAVE NCT127 SONG AS A PASSWORD, DON'T FORGET TO ADD your charACTER'S "theme song" AS A SECOND PASSWORD. Nct songs not REQUIRED, Bonus points if the song is from: Boys24, Produce 101 (seasons 1 Or 2), Idol Producer, The Unit, or Mix9.
♡ DO DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER'S LOOKS AS BEST YOU CAN, DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO ADD A FACECLAIM. IF YOU DO ADD ONE PLEASE DON'T PICK THOSE THAT ARE OVERUSED, OR OUT OF THE AGE-GROUP OF YOUR CHARA (ALL CHARACTERS WILL BE 20-30 YEARS OLD) YOU CAN EVEN USE A FREE A.I PROGRAM TO MAKE A FACECLAIM IF YOU WANT.

i will pick a minimum of 3 CHARACTERS (not including Mari) if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll pick one for each member. If i add any other nct members to the story they will mainly be cameos (sorry to the Taeyong, and mark fans, but i based this fic on the Elevator track video - i have another fic that features them but I'm gonna see how this one goes, before going ahead with that). Anyway... let's move on to the list of potential storylines. Here They are:

REMEMBER that the first time your character sees him is in the Elevator (his "solo scene"). She doesn't know his name, if he lives in the building or anything else. she notiCes whatever item he is carrying (or how he's dressed when it comes to Yuta and doyOUNG). Johnny fans can choose whether or not he's dancing with the pizza, and Doyoung fans can decide what floor he gets on/off and when the Elevator gets crowded. For example: he and your character get on the Elevator from the lobby, exchange a few glances as more and more people join. by the time it reaches 127 he's stuck in the back and she barely manages to get off at THE RIGHT FLOOR. Drop a comment or message me if you need any guidance. Please note: I will not reveal the guys' occupations, interests, or anything much about them until i start the story. I also won't stARt to revEal their apartment spots until i decide to upload teaser chapters. The guys may not all live on 127 or even in the building.

☆ not required storylines, just ranDom ones I came up with that you can use for your app or ignore and create your own. (you can use any format/layout so long as its clear to read, looks appealing, easy to navIgaTE, and you have permission to use it.)
○ Mari's "sis/sis-in-law" - a close friend to mari's family. Could be a friend of her brother or maybe even her brother's ex (they could have been like 10 years old when "dated" for a week), but they are still really good friends.

● "study buddies" - a friend and classmATE of mari. Maybe interested in architectural engineering.

○ music lovers unite! - met at noraebang. Maybe they work there too. Maybe there was some singing competition to get exclusive idol merch.

● "han Goo go, up so yo" - it should be 한국어 없어요 (han-gug-eo eobs-eo-yo) and even then 한국어 말하지 않아요 (hangugeo malhaji anhayo) might be more accurate. Regardless, this friend of Mari is trying to explain that theY don't speak Korean. Maybe mari stayed with their family when she was in Hong-Kong.
