Irene's POV

I slept more deeply than usual.

I have never slept as well as I did today. When I opened my eyes, I realized that this was not my usual familiar top bunk bed. There was no bell, no roommate's noisy voice, no panic; just a fresh scent, a very familiar smell that surrounded me and sparked my curiosity to find out what it was.

So I braced myself and looked around me. The bedding was a low-saturation gray and brown, and a bright pink bottle of perfume sat at the foot of the bed, which I picked up, convinced that it was the eponymous "Joy" perfume I had given to Park Soo-young on her birthday.

So this is Joy's bed. I got out of bed and went into the washroom, and the moment I looked in the mirror, I desperately tried to resist the urge to scream out.

I became her face intact.

What is this? I immediately remembered the bite of strawberry cake that she fed me yesterday with the coaxing of Yeri and Seulgi.

Park Soo-young, what the hell are you doing?

Joy's POV

When I fed strawberry cake into Irene's mouth yesterday, my heart trembled. Among the four people present, she was the only one who didn't know exactly what was in it. Maybe she would think it was a quirky prank as usual, but what she didn't know was that it would be the start of a ritual.

The first step to unlocking my curse.

I was so confident in my ability to make the perfect potion that I didn't think there was any chance of failure. I had already been to her room many times, so I didn't get too attached to it, and after a brief cleanup, I went to class as Irene.

I found a seat in the front row of the classroom and sat down casually, putting my bag on the next table. When some students came to ask, I told them with a smile that I was sorry, but this place was occupied, and they left disappointed.

Irene didn't appear in the classroom with Seulgi until the bell rang. I caught a glimpse of Irene's surprised look at me, but I just shrugged and gestured for her to sit here, ignoring Kang's awkward situation where she had no seat.

What? I'm Bae Joohyun now, not Joy, Kang Seulgi's best friend.

Irene obviously had a lot of questions for me, but I hadn't figured out how to explain it to her yet, but luckily the professor of the magic potion class started reading out the materials needed for the class, so I was able to have a legitimate reason to ignore her.

Irene is now very stupid. She is a Ravenclaw who only knows how to read by rote. Her inquisitive mind and thoughtful brain do not add half a point to her hands-on ability. Oh, but she is quite good at writing lab reports, but the process is just a mess.

I quickly finished my class assignment for this lesson, and when I saw how she had to fight with the equipment, I couldn't resist the opportunity to annoy her, so I tried to get in her ear and talk. When I stood up I accidentally touched the brass weighing scale to the ground, making a loud noise that attracted the attention of the professor and the class.

I think Irene now will be more angry.

She is a person who wants to avoid public attention as much as possible, but at the same time is a person who has an inner desire to win over others and has a small mind to compete.

Seulgi once asked me, "Aren't you afraid of being hated by Joohyun for doing these things?

Was I afraid? I also asked myself inwardly that I was not afraid at all until I learned that I had to go through the ritual to lift the curse. Although unnie didn't like what I was doing to her, she was also indulging me, and a part of her heart allowed me to do so. I was able to distinguish between a moment of patience and really not caring; I was also able to distinguish between true disgust and helpless tolerance.

Maybe. But I'm really not sure if Joohyun unnie really likes me. The kind of like that can kiss and hug.
