The warm steam of the sauna enveloped the two women, their bodies relaxed and their muscles loose. They had been enjoying a bachelorette spa day, but the mood had turned somber as Karina began to confide to Yeji about her broken heart.

"I just don't understand," Karina said, her voice heavy with emotion. "I thought she was my soulmate. She is my soulmate!"

Karina hides her face behind her palms, "Our connection was so intense, like nothing I've ever experienced before."

Yeji nodded sympathetically, knowing all too well the pain of a broken heart. "I'm so sorry, Karina."

"You deserve someone who will treat you right, not someone who would just leave you without a word," Yeji angrily spat.

"I know," Karina sighed, tears streaming down her cheeks. "But it's just so hard to let go. I keep replaying our first meeting in my head, trying to figure out what went wrong."

Yeji reached over and placed a comforting hand on her friend's shoulder. "Maybe now's not the right time for the two of you."

Karina sniffled and wiped her tears, taking in Yeji's words. "When will it be right?"

"I don't know, but it'll be worth it, right?" Yeji smiled, squeezing Karina's shoulder.

The two women sat in silence for a few moments, the only sound coming from the gentle hiss of the sauna. Finally, Yeji spoke up.

"Your soulmate better hide her face from me though or else I'm gonna smack her stupid ."

Karina beamed with pride at her friend's antics. "You're dumb."

"Excuse me?!" Yeji says, offended, before throwing a towel at her best friend. "At least my soulmate didn't leave me the first time she saw me!"

"Hey!"

"Oops! Too early?" Yeji says apologetically.

"You're lucky it's your wedding soon or else I would've smacked your face," Karina jokingly threatens.

"Speaking of, the two girls your soulmate came with… do you want to talk to them?" Yeji proposed. "I'll help you approach them, I know their room number afterall."

"I'll think about it."

"Do you even know her name?"

"What?"

"Your soulmate's name, do you know?"

Karina shook her head in response which earned a sympathetic look from her best friend.

"You could always ask Ryujin's friends, you know…"

"I don't know if I should," Karina intertwined her hands together, remembering the painful look from her soulmate. "I think she made it clear that I should stay away from her…. for now at least."

"What else did she say?"

Karina frowns at the memory, "She said that I'm gonna break her heart."

"So?" Yeji asks.

Karina glares at her friend while Yeji immediately fumbles at her explanation, "I mean, Ryujin broke my heart once or twice. It's every couples' right of passage. What's the big deal?"

"I don't know," Karina sighs. "She looks so defeated after saying those words."

Yeji was creatively looking for any explanation. "Do you think she's a clairvoyant of some sort?" She asks. "Maybe she saw your future together and saw how it'll end up?"

"That's unfair."

"What is?"

"That she'll leave me without trying," the forlorn woman says with dismay.

The wedding was beautiful. The sun was shining, the flowers were in full bloom, and Yeji looked stunning in her white dress.

The guests were laughing, the music was playing, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. But for the maid of honor, it was all a blur.

Karina couldn't help but think of her soulmate who left her. The pain was still fresh in her heart, and no amount of champagne or small talk could make her forget about it.

As she stood by the altar, holding the bride's bouquet, she felt a tear roll down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away, hoping no one noticed.

"I give you this ring as a symbol of my love; and with all that I am and all that I have, I honor you, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

Karina watched as her best friend exchanged vows with her wife-to-be, and she tried to push the thoughts of her own lost love out of her mind.

But once the couple kissed in front of the altar and made their way out of the church, hand in hand, it felt like a dagger in her heart. Karina wondered if her soulmate would be able to love her like that.

The reception was in full swing, and the maid of honor put on a brave face as she mingled with the guests.

"Everybody, once again, a round of applause for Mrs. and Mrs. Hwang!"

Karina smiled, laughed, and danced, but all the while, her mind was elsewhere. She kept replaying the last conversation she had with her soulmate, wondering what she could have done differently to make her stay.

As the night wore on, the guests began to leave, and the maid of honor said her goodbyes. Karina hugged the bride tightly, congratulating Yeji once again, but as soon as she was alone, the tears began to flow.

She made her way back to her hotel room, her heart heavy with regret and sadness. Karina couldn't shake off the feeling that she had let her soulmate slip through her fingers.

The wedding may have been a success, but for the maid of honor, it was a painful reminder of what she had lost.

Karina closed her eyes and tried to push the thoughts away, hoping to succumb to sleep as soon as possible until a loud knock came to her door.

The maid of honor stood up, went to the mirror to fix her composure and made her way to the door. "Who is it?" she says, slowly peeking through.

Mumbled voices came from the other side of the door.

Karina opened the door all the way through, "You're here," she breathed out.

Winter winced, "I am. I… I couldn't.."

Insecurities sinked in and the maid of honor tried to fix her dress, her hair, her everything. "You couldn't what?" she asked.

Her soulmate avoided her gaze, "I couldn't stop myself."

'I couldn't stay away.' Is what Winter meant.

"You owe me an explanation," Karina declares.

"R-right," Winter stuttered. "Can we talk? Are you free right now?"

Karina stepped back, insecure about her appearance. "Give me a second, I'll change my clothes."

"You're already perfect," Winter muttered under her breath.

The maid of honor stopped in her tracks. She looked back and saw her soulmate standing awkwardly at the door.

In fear that her soulmate will leave her again, Karina walked back. "Come in, I'll be quick."

As Winter stepped in, Karina's heart began to flutter with anticipation. She's wearing a cozy flannel, the fabric hugging her curves in all the right places.

But it's not just the fabric that has Karina captivated; it's the way her soulmate wears it - with an effortless grace that makes her even more irresistible.

As her soulmate draws closer, the scent of her perfume envelops Karina. It's a delicate fragrance that perfectly complements her natural beauty. The sweet scent of pear and the subtle floral notes of freesia dance around her, and Karina feels as though she's walking in a dream.

Karina shook the thoughts away and instead immediately grabbed her change of comfortable clothes before locking herself in the bathroom.

She tries to calm the hammering noise from her beating heart but to no avail, it keeps going. Karina swiftly put on her new set of clothes and tried to brush off the smell of whiskey off .

On the other side of the door, Winter is a mess waiting to happen. Her hands won't stop shaking even if she tries to intertwine it together.

Winter's eyes won't also stop gazing at the door like a miserable puppy. She felt like if she focused on the offending fixture real hard, her other half would come out.

When Karina suddenly opened the door, the other tried her best to look at anything but her. "Do you have a place in mind?" Karina asked.

"Do you want to eat?"

"I already did."

Winter winced at her poor attempt, "If that's the case we can—"

"Did you?" Karina asked, stepping in front of Winter like a deja vu.

"D-did I what?" Winter stuttered.

"Did you eat dinner?"

Winter can only shake her head in response.

"Then we'll eat." Karina declared before walking to the door and opening it for the other girl. "Lead the way."

As they walked towards the parking lot, Karina couldn't help but watch her soulmate's every move. Her heart raced with each step she took, and she yearned to reach out and touch the other girl's hand.

Karina took a step closer, but Winter didn't seem to notice. She hesitated, wondering if her soulmate felt the same way.

Did she want to hold her hand as much as Karina wanted to hold hers?

Her soulmate seemed nervous, fidgeting with her keys as they walked. Karina wondered if she was ruining everything. She didn't want to push too hard or come on too strong, but she couldn't help the way she felt.

Karina's mind raced as she tried to think of a way to show her soulmate how she felt. Should she just reach out and take her hand? Or should she wait for a sign?

Before she could decide her move, Winter opened a door for the passenger seat. "Here," she offered before making a space so Karina could sit inside.

After making her way to the seat, Winter followed suit and started the car. "I'
