“Just once. Just this once.” She’d beg her grandmother with tears practically streaming from her eyes. What was she asking for? Permission to attend the town’s annual midnight dance. It was only the most anticipated event at the end of the year, where all the residents, well most of them, gathered to celebrate the year’s harvest. But this year’s celebration was different for Yoona. This year she’d been asked out by a boy she really liked. “I will not permit you to walk out that door and stay late all hours of the night. You have to wake up early to help us gather the last of the apples before you go to school.” her grandmother mother said.
Yoona’s shoulders deflated in defeat as she watched her grandmother head back into the kitchen. She didn’t have permission to leave out the front door…but her grandmother never mentioned anything about the window.
Hi everyone! This will be my very first story under a new name. My previous stories were under the username- invaderhoneybee. It's a long and heartbreaking story as to what happened to my old account...I had stories there that from like 2013 or something, my first terrible writings. But oh well, we're starting over and hopefully everything works out fine :)
Foreword
Kang Yoona/18- Her grandparents own and run the orchard farm in town and probably the only bakery/ general store within a 50 mile radius. Originally from wealthy parents in the city but sent to live in the countryside with her grandparents due to the ongoing scandal with her parents and their wealth. Struggling to find her footing in her new environment
Im Changkyun/19- Son of the local dairy farmer, often helps out Yoona’s grandparents for extra pocket change. Rather quiet but attentive to those around him. Spends his spare time reading or practicing his carpentry skills.
Kim Ari/18- Close friend of Yoona’s
Lee Jooheon/ 24- Yoona’s cousin, runs the general store while his mom and sister manage the bakery part of the establishment. Pretty much the heir to the family business since “he’s the only one that went to college and knows how to do things”… according to his grandfather. Wanted to have a job in the city but life just doesn’t work out that way.
Lee Hara/15- Jooheon’s younger sister, loves to bake and embroidery. If you can’t find her anywhere, she’s probably tucked away in a corner working on an embroidery design for a pillow case. Wears glasses that look too big for her tiny face. Nicknamed Little Bird because of her whistling while she cleans the baking stations
Grandma and Grandpa: Well respected people in their community, prime examples of the “Work hard till you make it” mentality. Stern but loving with their family, have taken in their estranged granddaughter Yoona, while her parents do damage control in their high society lives.
Chae Hyungwon/18- Yoona’s secret boyfriend back in the city, son of famous director and model. Makes promises he can’t keep. Liked Yoona because she always found ways to get them out of trouble.
The Parents- Practically nonexistent, come and go as they please
