The sun was beginning to sink towards the horizon, staining the sky with shades of gold and pink as Kai parked his motorbike near the bus station where Lisa had alighted. He watched as she moved, with purposeful strides, into a store that sold camping gear. Suddenly, a child's voice cut through the quietude, "Gyeo Wool!" Kai's head snapped toward the sound, his heart pounding with hope. Instead, he was met with the sight of a young girl chasing her toddler sister, both laughing in innocent delight. When he turned back to Lisa's retreating figure, she had vanished. "Gone, again" he muttered to himself, frustration seeping into his tone.

Meanwhile, Lisa found herself navigating the labyrinthine trails of Bukhansan, heading towards Baegundae peak. Reaching a clearing, she paused to take in the serenity of the twilight hour. The day's last light glowed warmly against the tall trees, casting a dance of shadows on the snow-covered ground. A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she considered the story she had concocted. "A university student," she murmured to herself, her breath creating a misty cloud in the cold air. She couldn't help but shake her head at the lengths she was going to disguise her identity. She was now a silhouette disappearing into the mountains, leaving her past life behind. Her only company was the frosty winter air and the echo of her footsteps against the snow-covered path. Lisa despised the cold, and the evening chill was setting in. It wasn't just the physical discomfort that the cold brought with it. It was the memories, the flashbacks that seemed to accompany it. As a child, Lisa had intermittent flashes of an icy winter, snow crunching underfoot as she ran, her lungs aching from the icy air. A figure, shrouded in darkness, at her side, leading her away from something—or was it someone? Her adoptive parents had dismissed them as mere dreams, figments of an overactive imagination. Yet, she couldn't shake off the feeling that these were fragments of a forgotten past. As these thoughts swirled in her mind, a rustling from the nearby bushes brought her back to reality. Her heart leapt into , preparing for danger, but relaxed when an elderly woman emerged instead, carrying a basket laden with berries.

The woman's eyes were bright with curiosity, and a comforting warmth emanated from her.

"Hello, young lady. Quite a chilly evening for camping, isn't it?" she said, her voice gentle.

Lisa found herself smiling, "It is, but I've always been a bit of an adventurer."

The woman laughed softly, "I see. Adventurers like you often find what they seek, don't they?"

The words hung heavy in the air, resonating with Lisa's deepest thoughts. She couldn't help but feel there was more to what the woman was saying. Before she could respond, the woman held out a handful of berries, "Here, take these. They'll keep you warm."

Lisa accepted them gratefully, "Thank you, I appreciate it."

Chapter 1: This is absolutely beautiful, so descriptive and unique! I'm very interested in this world and to see how events for Kai (and Lisa, obvi) will play out~
