The Color of Promise

COLOR (My Grey World)

Grey. “ That was how the young girl would describe all of her days since her childhood. “ A perfect palette of 100 shades of grey you could say. “ she added to her previous say.

But that was before knowing you… You made my days different, you were different. Whenever I looked at you I could finally see colors.. The blue on your sweatpants, the white on your tank top, the red sneakers, your fairly pale skin, your beautiful brownish eyes that matched your long hair… Everything about you was different from my point of view compared to the others. You changed me, you made me feel special, you made me feel what was living….. And I’m very thankful for everything…

                              // A few months ago //

Eunchae was scrolling through the books on her bedroom’s shelf, there were coming an important exam at her school and she was getting ready for that. To be truly honest, she was more than ready for that said test, all that she does on her day is studying, that has been like that for ages now, Eunchae doesn’t know what is a hobby or if she knows, she never had any interest in any of them.

The 16 years old girl lived by herself in a normal house that once was her grandparent’s house, they left her alone when she was only 11 years old because they thought that it was too stressful to take care of a child. Her parents died when she was 5, they were involved in a robbery attempt at a local restaurant and unfortunately were caught by one of the bullets and they didn’t resisted until the paramedics arrived. Since then she went to live with her grandparents in Seoul but they were too harsh on her, when Eunchae reached 7 years they started charging her housing making the girl do the chores of the house and stuff like that if she wanted to stay there, since she was a little kid she couldn’t say no.

All by herself and left alone with a TON of traumas she immersed herself into reading, it was the only way she found to stop crying when it was dark or when she started to feel hungry, since she was a kid there weren’t any place that would accept her to work there so she had to survive with whatever she could find to eat and also her grandparents would send every month a really small quantity of money so she could barely buy stuff for her everyday care. When she reached 14 years she started to work half-period in some convenience stores or anything that she could find and that she could be accepted.

With the money she received by working she started enrolling in courses to make up for the time she lost away from school, in less than 2 years she was already at the same level of the “normal” students of her age and she the exam the girl was getting ready for is a special exam dedicated to people like her, that had to stop her education for whatever reason they had, so they could get a certificate that would validate her to go back to study at her normal class and not necessarily do everything from where she stopped. Fyi: she’s been out of school since she was 8 years old, her grandparents said she should stop losing time with school because there was too much to do at home.

Eunchae didn’t had anything planned for the long run, she just wanted to finish her studies like everyone else and then engage in some university, she wasn’t sure about what course she should take but it should be anything that would made her mind busy every day and every time so she wouldn’t have time to fell down into her trouble’s hole anymore.

The function f is bijective. Each element x of A is associated with a single element y of B, so that y=x+1. However, as f is bijective, each element y of B is associated with a single element x of A, so that x=y-1; so we have another function g:BA, such that x=y-1 or g(y)=y-1.. “ she was saying while reading one of her mathematics book. Eunchae was so into her studying moment that she almost jumped from her chair when her phone started to ring, it was her alarm saying that she was almost late for her job. “ Oh ! “

It wasn’t the first time, as told before, Eunchae was always studying and sometimes she loses her track of time and gets lost in her own world so she got late to her job a few times, more than her boss would be happy about. He hasn’t fired the girl yet because he knows a little about her harsh past and he was actually the first person that accepted her request for work, he couldn’t let the poor girl alone without any help so he – almost – always turns a blind eye to her getting there late. And also she never got that much late as well, it was always a matter of 5 to 10 minutes, fortunately she lived nearby.

“ I’m so sorry, sajangnim… “ the young girl said while looking down, she was too embarrassed to look at her boss eyes, even if it wasn’t the first time that happened.

“ Don’t worry about it, I’m already used to it. “ he smiled and ruffled her hair making Eunchae getting a little more relaxed. “ Well, it’s up to you know, see you tomorrow! “

She bowed to him as a sign of respect to her boss and they quickly waved goodbye to each other and then she started to do whatever she had to do. Eunchae was the night shift employer so all she had to do was clean the place and re-stock every shelf that needed to re-stock, sometimes she had to redo the price of their items but it was pretty rare, it was always the job of the person that worked on the day shift to do. Usually her nights were pretty chill, since it is a store placed in a residential area it was never crowded with people, only a few students coming back from school or adults coming back from work, hence why she was the only one at the store every night.

Whenever she finished doing her things she would always go back to the counter and would start to read a book and it would always be a mathematics or physics book, those two were always the ones that kept her more entertained at their content but she would also run to hide the said books whenever a client enters the store which just happened.

Dang, I just opened the books.. “ she said to herself while looking at the small group that just arrived and started looking around the store.

YES, I FOUND IT FINALLY!

One of them screamed after lifting a cup of Cup Noodles with strawberry shortcake flavor, she looked extremely happy looking to the – not that visually appealing – meal she was holding in her hands but she was the only one excited with that, her friends weren’t looking like the biggest fans of that type of Cup Noodles. “ Guys I swear, this will be the best thing you’ll ever eat in your entire lives! “

“ I doubt it. “ one of the guys said after rolling his eyes. “ There’s definitely no way that a cake flavored noodle is good. “

“ You’re just judging the book by its cover, as soon as you get rid of the initial denial you’ll find the real treasure that this thing is. “ she kept selling her product but it doesn’t seen like she was getting any progress at it. “ Come on guys, what about yolo? “

“ No way you’re using yolo for that situation! That’s not how it works! “ the other, taller, guy said and the girl sighed.

“… ANYWAY, y’all will eat this with me, that was the promise! “ after saying the last word the 3 of them immediately felt an enormous regret about promising to eat that thing, they thought she was lying about its existence and they wouldn’t find it anywhere but… they found, and they couldn’t be sadder than they’re already are.

Eunchae couldn’t help but pay attention to their dialogue, the girl was being really loud about her craving for the not that common flavor of Cup Noodles and the store isn’t that big that she wouldn’t be able to listen to a normal conversation anyway. She also couldn’t help but feel kinda of jealous, that right there was something that she never had in her entire life, friends. As soon as she left her school she never had the chance to interact with people from her age, imagine making friends, so she always gets a little sad when she sees friends hanging out on the streets or when there’s a loud and excited group like that inside the store.

After a lot of reluctance from her friends they all agreed to eat the strange noodles, after all, a promise is a promise. They bought 4 Cup Noodles and 4 sodas to help it get down through their throats. While the noodles where getting ready the girl between them was really smiley and happy, she truly loved that thing and was genuinely happy that she could show her favorite snack to her friends. Eunchae on the other hand was trying to understand how that thing would even taste, she never saw anyone buying this so she had implanted on her mind that it was awful and no one would ever buy it, but now seeing the girl so excited for it made her think if she should try it any day.

“ Do you want to try it as well, lady? “ the excited one asked while looking at Eunchae judging her favorite food as well.

“ U-Uh? Me? “ she pointed to herself and the other confirmed with her head. “ A-Ah, no! I was just–.. “

“ You were just judging it like my friends here, weren’t you? Don’t bother, those guys always had terrible taste for food! “ the tall guy frowned after her say.

“ Hey, looks who’s talking! You’re the one always eating weird stuff. Don’t try to make innocent people suffer as well, aren’t we enough? “ he said and the girl crossed her arms looking fiercely at him.

“ Suffer? Oh, you’re in for a beat up after we finish eating here. “ she threatened him making the other ones chuckle.

Eunchae found that interaction really interesting, she was the only girl between 3 mans, isn’t common to see that kind of group and it seems that she’s also the most extrovert between them since the girl is always the one talking first, she probably has a really good outgoing personality which is totally the opposite from Eunchae’s personality. After finishing, she gave to each of them their now ready Strawberry ShortCake flavored Cup Noodles and all of them went to the table inside the store next to the entry door and sat there to eat their late night snacks. Two of them were still struggling to even look at the meal while the other one looked more ready to eat it, he said it smelled really good actually.

“ What’s keeping you guys from eating? Let’s go already! Itadakimasu~

They started eating and Eunchae was surprised to see that they weren’t doing funny expressions or saying anything bad about the meal, well, except for the tall guy, he clearly hated that thing. The other two were actually glad that it tasted good, nothing exceptional as the girl has been saying but it didn’t taste bad at all for them, it made her curiosity about it even bigger but she quickly shook her head trying to get rid of this thought, she didn’t had time to try new things now. Seeing that they would stay there for a while and they didn’t look like thieves or something like that the cashier decided to open her book again and start studying a little more since she had nothing to do until they leave.

It’s been 10 minutes since she started studying at the counter and the group was still there, probably they’ve finished eating but were still there relaxing and talking, not that Eunchae have noticed that they already finished their food, she was too into her book as always. “ Exponentiation is the mathematical operation that represents the multiplication of equal factors. That is, we use exponentiation when a number is multiplied by itself several times.. –hey..– So you could say that 8 is the exponentiation of 2³, right? –Hey!“ she got startled by the sudden yell that wasn’t so sudden actually, the girl has been trying to get Eunchae’s attention for almost a whole minute.

“ Gosh, you were really into that book, huh? “ she said quite annoyed and Eunchae quickly apologize for making her wait. “ What is it that made you turn off from the world? “

The girl took the book from Eunchae and started reading what was written there, the cashier really nervous and embarrassed trying to stretch her hand to get the book back but she couldn’t reach the other girl’s hand from behind the counter. When Eunchae decided to leave the counter to get the book the girl started running through the store to escape from the cashier and she couldn’t hold her laughter after seeing how desperate the latter looked while running after her. A soon after one of her friends hold her arm making it impossible for her to escape and Eunchae finally reached her, taking her book back.

“ Hey Beomgyu! I was just having fun! “ she frowned and the guy rolled his eyes.

“ You were the only one having fun, Kazuha. She was clearly bothered about you stealing her book and making her run after you. Please, apologize. “ he said and she whined but as soon as he gave a little more serious look she immediately moved her look down, it seems that she couldn’t argue against him like she did before with the other guy.

“ Okay, okay.. “ Beomgyu released his hand from her arm and the girl went after Eunchae, which was already back at the other side of the counter and was holding her book now with both her hands so Kazuha wouldn’t be able to steal it again. “ Hey, don’t need to be in defensive, I’m not gonna take your book again, I promise. “ after saying that Eunchae relaxed her hands a little but kept a little distant from the girl.

“ I’m sorry for taking your book, I didn’t knew it would annoy you so much… I just thought that you needed a little distraction, you were so into a Mathematics book that I started to think that you were really bored, it was my fault to assume something like that, maybe you’re just really into that subject and I was being rude. “ she made a half bow and after maintained her look down waiting for an answer from the cashier.

Eunchae was quite speechless, the girl had a totally different aura right now when she apologized. Actually there was something that Eunchae had to apologize as well, she assumed that the girl was one of the kind that would bully quiet and nerdy girls like her because she was such an extrovert person and she was surrounded by guys, she kinda stereotyped Kazuha, that’s why she ran so much to take the book back. Seeing how the Beomgyu guy made her apologize so quick shows that there wasn’t any type of relationship like that, they were probably just good friends.

“ N-No, you don’t need to apologize, i-is okay! Really! “ she said so Kazuha could finally look up again. “ I’m the one that should apologize, I thought that you would make fun of me if you read what I was studying, that’s why I started running after you. “

“ Make fun? “ she raised one of her eyebrows and left out a relieved gasp. “ I would never do that, I’m not the type of person that makes fun of someone ‘cuz of their liking's.. Well, I actually thought that you were reading it out of boredom so I kinda judged you after all, sort of contradicting myself, right? “ Kazuha chuckled and Eunchae also gave a quick chuckle.

“ In the end it was only a misunderstanding from each other but I still feel the need to make over my mistake… Oh, I know, what about paying to you a Strawberry Shortcake flavored Cup Noodle? I saw that you were kinda interested about it while we were waiting it to get done. What do you say? “ Eunchae shook her hands and head refusing the idea.

“ Y-You don’t need to, if you pay me something I’ll only feel that I owe you after. “ she said feeling shy about it, but there was something that she wanted to hide about her saying.

Eunchae never received any kind of gift since her parents died, the only thing she received from her grandparents was the small amount of money they would send every month but they would also send with it a message saying that she would have to pay everything back whenever she grew up and started working, then she thinks if someone gives her something she would have to always pay it back after, for that reason she never accepted gifts from her boss, like food or even the small cosmetics that they sell in the store that he once saw Eunchae looking at them but never bought, she can’t afford to buy things like that when all her money goes to her living and studies. The only time the girl bought something to herself was a phone, a really old phone by the way, just to keep her schedule written down and stuff like that, she doesn’t even has a social media.

“ Hong.. Eunchae-ssi? “ Kazuha asked while pointing to the tag on Eunchae’s work uniform. “ Hong Eunchae, I’m not asking for anything in return for you, I just want to pay you something to make up for my initial mistake, there’s nothing wrong with it. Just treat it like a friend buying you a snack or something. “

“ A friend, huh..? “ she murmured and Kazuha noticed it but she decided to not ask anything.

“ Just hold on, lemme find my walle-.. “ she tapped her forehead as soon as mentioned her wallet, the girl remembered she left her wallet at home and they actually bought the Cup Noodles with Beomgyu’s money. “ . “

Eunchae was still thinking about the word Kazuha just used, was she already considering them as friends? Was that easy to make friends all along but Eunchae was just so socially inept that she never tried? Or she was thinking way too much into that phrase and she just used the word friends as an example since she thought that the cashier would understand, after all, everyone should have friends, right?

“ What should I do… ask him for more money? Nah, I’m already in debt with him for today’s meals.. Oh, I know! “ she took her phone from her sweatpants pocket and hand it over to Eunchae’s while she kept her other hand open waiting for the cashier’s phone. “ Let’s exchange numbers, that way I can make contact to know if you’re here and free, so I would come to buy it for you. “

Eunchae immediately stiffened in her place, she looked nervous after seeing the girl’s cellphone, it was one of the latest models that has been launched, she put her hand in her pants pocket and felt the small and old phone she has and thought that she couldn’t show it, she was too embarrassed by it to show, again, she thought that Kazuha would make fun of her and the latter noticed how nervous she came to be by that simple request, Eunchae didn’t notice it but Kazuha was a very perceptive person.

“ Am I being too straightforward? “ she asked rhetorically and right after she picked up a pen and a piece of paper that was over the counter with several “Eunchae” written on it with different types of hand-writing, the girl must love her own name. Kazuha thought it was really cute but she decided to not comment about it, the cashier was too tense already to get more nervous. “ I’m writing down my number here, add it whenever you want and call me when you feel okay about it. Once I promise something I’ll always make sure to fulfill it. “

Before she could even try to think if she should really or not give her number she saw Kazuha already writing her number on the paper and going back to her friends on the table, again she misjudged Kazuha’s character, she knew that Kazuha noticed how nervous she looked and before even asking the reason for the sudden reaction she just wrote it and left there, she looks like a really comprehensive person. But now she’s been thinking what she should do, just because Kazuha promised to pay her something doesn’t mean that Eunchae was thinking that she really should do it, even after the former saying that she wouldn’t owe her anything the cashier was still thinking that it wasn’t necessary, her solution would be to completely ignore that and never call or text Kazuha.

“ And hey, if you keep me waiting too much for your call I’ll just straight up come here again without being invited, you hear me? “ and that made Eunchae’s mind flip all over the place.

Kazuha and her group left at the same time making Eunchae’s unable to even counter what the extrovert one said. She was in absolute breakdown now, she doesn’t have an option anymore, or she calls and Kazuha will gladly come or she ignores it and Kazuha angrily comes, either way, now she would have to be ready to interact with someone that she barely know, actually, that she doesn’t know even a bit, she only knows her name because her friends said it, she doesn’t even know her surname.

Two weeks passed by quickly in Eunchae’s mind, the young girl just did the important exam she was studying so hard for and was now at her job, resting her chin to her right hand’s palm, her elbow on the counter. She was looking at the empty store and thinking about a certain someone that kept showing up on her mind every other day. Even with her exams coming closer she couldn’t help but think that at any time Kazuha would show up at her store because she didn’t had the courage to text or call her after all and she didn’t know how she would act after seeing the other girl, probably she would have to apologize for not calling and hope that Kazuha wouldn’t be greatly angry with her.

You should’ve called her, Eunchae. “ she thought while looking to the empty table. “ Get rid of these thoughts and focus entirely on your studies… I think I even answered something wrong because of this actually. “

The girl shook her head and let out a really long sigh, almost a deep whine, she was annoyed about her own thoughts and how she let it took over her head. “ Okay Eunchae, it’s been two weeks, she prolly forgot it and you have things to do so-.. “

You thought I forgot about my promise? You’re misjudging me again! “ the voice came from the door which just got opened by the person who was tormenting Eunchae’s brain for the last days.

“ KA-KAZUHA?! “ she let out a surprise yell and immediately put her hands over embarrassed, the newcomer couldn’t help but laugh, Eunchae looked so cute when she’s shy.

“ Oh, you remembered my name, at least. “ she walked to the counter and smiled. “ I said it once and I’ll say it again, I never break my promises. “

“ Ah-ha… I-I thought you wouldn’t remember, since I was someone that you met for like, 20 minutes or less. “ Kazuha raised her eyebrows and then frowned.

“ How could you say that? There’s no way I’m forgetting a cute face like yours. “ Eunchae’s cheeks rose instantly after Kazuha’s line and the cashier looked to the side trying to hide her red face. “ Was I too straightforward? Sumimasen~

Eunchae noticed it again, she said in the first time when they were eating something that caught her attention, Kazuha said “itadakimasu” and now she said “Sumimasen”, on the spur of curiosity she asked “ Are you Japanese? “

“ You caught it up with just that word? Is it that weird to see a Korean person to talk in Japanese here? “ she said it kinda annoyed and Eunchae got nervous thinking she said something bad but Kazuha was just playing with her and let out a chuckle to break the cashier’s tension. “ You’re right though, I am indeed Japanese, I thought my name would expose it already. “

Oh, it makes sense now – she thought just now noticing how not Korean her name sounded but she was so out of her right mind between these weeks that she didn’t even noticed it. They both ended letting out a small laugh before starting to look at each other in silence, it was like they were waiting the other to talk first. And it got awkward really fast. Eunchae had nothing to say while Kazuha was thinking that they don’t know each other so, it was really super weird to start any type of conversation. The japanese cleared to break the silence and went to the shelf where the noodles were stocked and she picked up two cups of it, one for her and one for the cashier.

“ Well, time to pay my promise. Boil some water for us please. “ she said while leaving both cups of Strawberry Shortcake Noodles over the counter with the money for the payment and went back to the fridge to get some sodas, the same thing she did on the last time for her friends.

After passing the curiousness from two weeks ago, Eunchae started to think that these really looked weird and couldn’t possibly think that they would taste well but it’s too late to back down now, Kazuha was there already paying for it and letting herself being really clear that she doesn’t accept refuse as an answer. Attending to her client’s request she boiled a jar of water at the microwave and poured into the – now opened – cups of noodle to cook the food before they started putting all the weird seasonings that thing has. Kazuha leaned against the counter while waiting for the noodles to cook and Eunchae was standing there behind the counter in the “natural” pose of a cashier, it was still awkward for her to be acting normal next to the Japanese girl.

“ Okay, let’s break the tension before we eat or it will definitely taste bad. “ she said after resting her face on her palm and looking directly to Eunchae’s eyes who tried firmly to escape the eye contact. “ How old are you, Eunchae-ssi? “

“ I’m 16… w-what about you? “

“ 19, we’re 3 years apart but don’t need to speak formally with me, I hate these kinds of honorifics. “ she said while rolling her eyes, she could tell that Eunchae would start to talk respectfully right after knowing her age.

“ O-Oh… okay, I’ll try… I guess.. “ she said shyly, still looking down avoiding catching the eyesight of the Japanese. “ Actually, there was something that was bothering me, what’s your full name? I feel weird calling you by your first name when we just met… “ the other one grumbled.

“ I just told you that you can talk normally with me, doesn’t need to call me by my surname. Kazuha is just fine. “ she said but Eunchae was embarrassed to do that, it was too much for her. “ Okay… my name is Nakamura Kazuha. “

“ Oh, I see… “ she kept murmuring the name, it was kinda hard to say it fully for her and that made Kazuha smiled.

“ Well.. you just said you’re 16 right? And you’re already working half-period here, saving money for tuition fees? “ Kazuha said and Eunchae shook her head denying it.

“ Not entirely, it’s for that as well but I work because I need to. I live alone so I need to make money. “ she said it and Kazuha gasped surprised.

“ Wow, living alone at that age? That’s unusual. “ Eunchae stiffened after that saying, she shook her head and faked a smile while looking to the noodles that were almost ready.

“ Y-You could say that.. It’s kinda hard but I’m used to it already…. W-Well, our noodles are ready, let’s eat? “ she rapidly changed the topic and left the counter with both pots of noodle in her hands going straight to the table.

Kazuha noticed how quick her expression changed, it was also unusual seeing Eunchae taking the lead and going on with things first, she knew she said something that she should’ve not said but didn’t know exactly what it was so she refrained asking about it and just went with the topic change, after all she was excited to see the younger one reaction to her favorite snack. She grabbed both bottles of soda and two cups that were next to her on the counter and went to the table sitting at Eunchae’s side which was staring at the seasonings that were there to put on the noodle, judging it HARDLY.

“ Are you really sure that these taste well? “ she asked still staring at the little bag with little pieces of strawberry.

“ Don’t judge the book by its cover, wait until you eat so you can review it. “ the girl answered while throwing the remaining water on the pot into one of the cups she just took from the counter and then doing the same for Eunchae’s pot.

“ So, first you put the normal sauce we put in every noodle. “ she said while ripping one of the small blue bag of beef sauce.

“ It is salty tho, won’t it taste really weird with the sweet flavors?–.. “

Kazuha shut Eunchae’s mouth with her point finger and smiled. “ Trust the process, complain after. “ So Eunchae, reluctant, followed her instruction and put the sauce into her cup, mixing it with a pair of hashis just like Kazuha just did.

“ Now that we mixed it, we spread well this whole vanilla flavored mayonnaise over the noodles and put the yogurt flavored cubes and these small sugar bits with the strawberry pieces over it. “ she said while put everything over it and while she was explaining what each of these stuffs in the little bags were Eunchae became more and more concerned about the final taste of this, for what she was thinking, ATROCITY.

After she finished following Kazuha’s instruction both of them started mixing everything with their chopsticks so they could finish preparing their meal. The Japanese was absolutely excited while smelling her food meanwhile the Korean girl was rather surprised by the smell she was feeling after mixing the whole thing, it really smelled good.

“ So, are you ready? “ Kazuha asked while looking to Eunchae who was sighing deeply.

“ I guess…? “

The girl took a small amount with the hashis while Kazuha went for a big bite since she’s already used to the food and then they’ve put it into their mouths at the same time and….. Wow.

“ THIS IS GOOD? “ the cashier screamed while covering to not spill food into Kazuha’s face.

“ I told you to not judge the book by its cover! “

She couldn’t explain it but there was something in that mix of salt sauce and sweet stuff that was just hitting the right spot at , that was indeed a big surprise to her. Kazuha was just smiling extremely happily watching the young one absolutely devouring the meal she paid for her, her favorite meal. They ate the whole thing in a blink of an eye, both of them were delighted.

“ This was amazing… But it feels like something you eat just once in a while. “ she said and Kazuha agreed.

“ That’s true, it’s not an everyday meal. I try to eat once in a week, sometimes twice but really rarely. “ Eunchae smiled and then looked at the now empty cup of noodle, she started to think about the whole promise thing Kazuha did with her and started to feel sad.

“ Well, you just fulfilled your promise with me.. I guess it is time to say goodbye now, right? “ she said quite sadly.

Eunchae didn’t want to admit but she liked being with Kazuha, they spent what… 40 minutes together? If you combine both their first meeting and now but that was a really special moment for the Korean girl. She didn’t have any friends so she never had any type of interaction like this with anyone, she always ate alone by herself at home or here at the counter, she never had a conversation longer than 1 minute with anyone, not even her boss that cared a lot about her, this moment where she could experience new stuff, laugh a little and smile brightly about something, those things never happened in her entire life. It was also kinda one of the motives for her to delay the encounter with Kazuha as much as possible, she didn’t want to make it happen too soon, deep down she wanted to meet the girl again but she was afraid that their next meeting would be the final one since for her, Kazuha was there only to fulfill the promise about paying her food.

“ Hah. “ she gasped and then started cackling loudly making Eunchae become confused.

“ W-What is so funny?? “

“ What the hell are you talking about girl? “ the Japanese stopped laughing and ruffled Eunchae’s hair. “ Why would we say goodbye to each other? Aren’t we friends? “

“ F-F-Friends?! “

This. This word. This damned word. She said it. She said what Eunchae always wanted to hear from someone. She always thought that would be hard for her to make a friend, knowing how quiet and reserved she was, there was no way anyone would like to be friends with her. And then Kazuha just flat out said that they were friends all of sudden and broke every thing that Eunchae previously thought about the girl. How someone like her, funny, quite loud, expressive, excited and bright could ever want to have a friend like her? There was nothing on Eunchae that would make people want to be next to her more than once.

“ A-Are you joking w-with me or b-being for real? W-We are f-friends? “ she asked stuttering a little, still in complete shock. Kazuha was rather surprised by how shocked the girl looked.

“ Hm.. yeah? Why wouldn’t we be? You already have my phone number, I came to her job at the night just so we could have a meal together… we were already friends, didn’t you notice it? “

It was at that time that the girl felt something inside of her changing, she could hear the sound of one of her mental barriers breaking. The fear of staying alone for the rest of her life just got completely obliterated by Kazuha’s word. She couldn’t hide anymore her excitement over this and hugged the older one which was mad confused about the whole reaction of the younger girl. She didn’t care that she was looking weird at that moment, she needed to express her gratitude to Kazuha, her friend… Her first friend. The first time that in her eyes, the world didn’t looked completely grey for her.

Chapter 1: This is so cute! Thank you so much for this :)
