Mina walked into the coffee shop a bit panicked. She was gonna meet her friends who were trying to set her up on another blind date and even tho they had good intentions she was just tired of the effort she puts in for it to just be a waste.

 

Mina had talked to her friends and told them to stop but they couldn’t understand why, now it was making Mina look for other options to get them off her back, especially with their wedding coming up and them pushing for that plus one. She needs to come up with a plan soon before Sana and Momo get here.

 

“Hey Mina-ssi, what can I get you today?” The barista asked 

 

A girlfriend- wouldn’t it be great to find a place and order a girlfriend then again there would probably be so many things wrong with that.

 

“Uh, we don’t… I don’t… we only have drinks and pastries.” The pale girl was flustered, making Mina realize She said that out loud.

 

“I’ll just have an iced americano and a waffle please.” Now would be a good time for the earth to open up and swallow her. I won't be able to come back here and I liked this cafe because it's nice and homey. Mina thought.

 

“Take a seat and I’ll bring your order once it’s ready.”

 

Mina just nodded and walked towards an empty table. Going back to her thoughts and the conversation that was soon to happen she could sense her friends were close to the café place. It was a special talent she acquired after knowing her friends for so long also, the text that Sana sent her letting her know they were 5 minutes away just proved her correct. She could tell them she already had a girlfriend but then they were gonna want to meet her. Maybe that it’s a long-distance thing then she can say they broke up would they buy it. What if she asked a friend to be her fake girlfriend.

 

She was out of time when she heard her best friend's voice “Mitang!” and that made her realize that her coffee had already been served. She had been too deep in her thoughts that she failed to notice when the barista dropped it off.

 

“Momoring! Satang!” She got up to her friends. It had been a while since the last time they met due to their work.

 

“Sorry we are late, someone over here woke up late” Sana nudged Momo making the older woman whine.

 

“Whatever, how are you Mitang? How’s work?” Momo asked.

 

“I’ve been good, working a lot but it’s fine since I’ll be taking my vacation time for the wedding I’m excited to see my parents and Ray since it’s been a while how about you? How’s it going at the studio and the school?” Yes, distract them, Mina thought to herself. they loved talking about their jobs she knew they would tell her everything and anything about it. Hopefully prolonging or even forgetting why they were there.

 

“Everything is good the kids a great a few little buggers but the rest are angels I love them and most of them have great taste with the gifts they bring me too, they are always so excited and ready to learn”

Sana was telling her with the biggest smile on her face Mina knew she loved being a teacher but it always showed the most when she was either teaching or talking about her kids. 

 

“That’s great Sana, how about you Mo”

 

“It’s great, been busy with dance routines and has more students, teachers too, which speaking of-“ oh no Momo had that face Mina didn’t like that face she was hoping this would distract them but alas it backfired she didn’t think it would come this soon.

 

“There’s is a new teacher, she’s single, gay, and ready to date.” She finished with a lift of her eyebrows and a proud smirk for her rhyme.

 

“Come on guys I told you no more blind dates.” 

 

“Trust me on this one she is your type and she’s hot.”

 

“If it doesn’t work out at least you can have some hot fun at least”

 

“Sana!” Mina called at her friend's suggestions.

 

“If it works out she can be your plus one for the wedding. She is free this weekend so you can meet her for dinner.” Momo continued 

 

Mina didn’t want to go and she had plans this weekend that involved not leaving her house and playing video games all day. before Mina could make up her mind started going on its own.

 

“I already have plans this weekend with my girl-girlfriend.” 

 

That left the two stunned trying to process what the younger woman just said.

 

“What! Why? Why didn’t you tell us?!”

 

“ Who is she?”

 

The responses came simultaneously but were soon cut off by the young barista.

 

“Unnie sorry about the delay on your food. We had some troubles in the kitchen but here’s your waffle.” The shorter girl placed the plate in front of her, cutting the interrogation short.

 

Buying Mina some time to think.

 

“Her.” Mina pointed at the barista who was looking confused and scared as 2 pairs of eyes looked at her at Mina’s words. Mina was instantly regretting it, how could she bring Dahyun into her mess plus they weren’t close they barely became friends but she was also the best(only) choice 

 

“Me?”

 

“Her?”

 

“Dahyun?”

 

Sana said, making all eyes turn to her as she recognized the pale woman.

 

“Unnie! You finally came!”

 

“Wait, you know each other?!”

 

Mina didn’t think this through,she was sure it was late to backtrack now tho, she was surprised at Sana calling Dahyun’s name she didn’t think they would end up knowing each other.

 

Sana and Dahyun knowing each other could potentially destroy her plan now.

What if they were close, what if Dahyun was dating someone and Sana knew oh god Mina didn’t even know if Dahyun was single this was bad. 

 

“Yes, we met at the school when she picked up Tzuyu.”

 

Oh no Dahyun has a child she’s probably married of course she is, after all, she is sweet, funny, pretty, and makes great coffee this was bad, she was never going to hear the end of this.

 

“So Dahyunie is your girlfriend?” Sana asked with a gleeful look and that worried Mina.

 

“I am?”

 

Dahyun was confused for the nth time today but she caught on fast as she looked at Mina and with the slip up from earlier she knew she had to play along even if just for Mina’s sake as she looked so panicked.

 

“I mean yes I am!, sorry I didn’t think she had told you yet.”

 

“Babe I thought you were gonna wait till you introduced me properly,” Dahyun said with a bright smile 

 

How was Dahyun this good at this? She could feel the redness on her face at Dahyun’s pet name, She gave Mina a small nod of encouragement for her to talk, wait so does that mean she’s single maybe she’s a single mom, Mina looked towards her friends who were looking at her expectantly 

 

“I-I was that was my plan but there was a- um change of plan? But you are here now so uh Satang Momoring, meet Dahyunie, my girlfriend.”

 

Mina couldn’t believe this was happening; she was sure this must be a dream of some sort.

 

“Dahyun, these are my best friends Sana and Momo.”

 

“Nice to finally meet you.”

 

Mina knew that her friends were gonna ask many questions especially since there had been no mention of a girlfriend before and she had to get her story straight with Dahyun before the official interrogation started.

 

“Let me finish up here and I’ll be back, in the meantime order anything you want, it's on the house I’ll send someone to take your orders.” She said walking away as she was called by one of the employees Mina was glad but she also needed to talk to her.

 

So she gave it a few minutes before excusing herself.

 

She made her way towards the restroom making a detour as she found Dahyun in the back.

 

“Can we talk?”

 

“Are you breaking up with me already?’

 

“What?”

 

“I'm kidding, come on.” Dahyun led them through a door and they were now on a balcony with some flowers and trees, a pretty nice view. Mina never imagined this place could be here. It looked like it was a work in progress and honestly, she could see herself sitting out here with a coffee and a book.

 

“I should be opening this place to the public soon. I just need to work on the garden and some of the furniture.” Dahyun said as she looked at Mina’s face of wonder.

 

“It looks amazing so far. I can't wait to come once it's finished it would be a nice place to hang out.”

 

“Thanks!” 

 

How does one start a conversation like this without looking so desperate even tho Mina knows she is past that point so what is there to lose, 

 

“So I'm sorry, about dragging you into my mess you don't have to do it I’ll talk to them, I just panicked and you just happened to show up at that time, and I didn’t think you knew Sana.”

 

“Hey hey Mina breath, I’m not sure why you need a fake girlfriend but if it helps you I’ll do it, plus this could benefit me too,” Dahyun assured Mina.

 

“I just it bothers me that they keep wanting to set me up on blind dates all because they think I’m lonely or that I need to move on from my ex,” Mina went on a small rant.

 

“Are you?”

 

“what? lonely or over my ex.”

 

“Both?” Dahyun then realize what she asked and how that is totally not her business after a few more seconds of silence Dahyun hurried to apologize.

 

“Sorry you don't have to answer that, but I'll do it if you want me to. I'll be your girlfriend.”

 

“You don’t have to, I can figure something out.”

 

“I’m sure you can, but why should you when you have a willing participant right here.”Dahyun just had to give her that convincing smile but it took a big amount of stress off of her.

 

“You don’t think I'm crazy? This is crazy?”

 

“If you think you are crazy doesn’t that make me crazier for accepting to be your girlfriend.” Dahyun gave her a reassuring smile and that comforted her somehow.

 

“I think I should get back before they come looking for me, we should just get our stories straight.”

 

“There is nothing straight about this but okay, we'll say we met here at the cafe, that you fell for my charm and funny jokes and we just hit it off since,” Dahyun said with a big smirk and a wink for full dramatic effect.

 

Mina couldn’t believe this girl. she just shook her head with a small smile. They shared some quick information about each other before they had to part ways for now.

 

“ oh, just the last question, how close are you to Sana?”

 

“Oh, she’s Tzuyu's teacher. We've met a few times when I had to pick her up. We talked briefly a few times but she doesn’t know much about me.”

 

Once Mina heard the name once again, but it was like Dahyun read her mind.

 

“Tzuyu is my niece by the way.”

 

“Okay, I should get back to them”

 

“I’ll finish some things with the crew and then I’ll be all yours”

 

“I mean like to come and talk to your friends and yeah that.” Mina couldn’t lie, she liked watching a flustered Dahyun.

 

“Thank you Dahyun.”

 

Mina went back to the table, a bit more ready to face her friends. She had to put her acting skills to good use now.

 

“Did you order something already?”

 

“Yes, we did.”

 

“I know you have questions and I prefer you ask them now before Dahyun comes.”

 

“Why didn’t you tell us?”

 

“Dahyun and I are pretty new, we decided to take things slowly but I was gonna tell you once we were ready.”

 

“But I still set you up on a date a few months back with Seulgi”

 

“Yeah, but from the beginning, it was clear for both of us that it wasn’t gonna work out. She has someone and I was just starting with Dahyun.”

 

Mina hated lying to her friends and family so she opted but just stretching out details, it didn’t count as lying technically right?

 

So far Momo and Sana were taking everything fine the most concerning thing for them was that she didn’t tell them but they seem to accept all the information given.

 

Dahyun seemed to have a sense for when Mina needed help, as she waltzed to their table with another girl as they were holding drinks and many pastries.

 

“Did they order all of this?” Mina asked Dahyun but Dahyun had no chance to respond as Mina remembered her waffle which was nowhere to be found.

 

“Momo did you eat my waffle?” Momo wasn’t looking at Mina in the eyes the whole time until now giving an incredulous look.

 

“Why would you assume it was me and not Sana?”

 

“Hey!”

 

“Just saying it could have been you and not me”

 

They started to bicker and Mina couldn’t believe her friends and that’s when she remembered the other girl that was looking at them with amusement in her eyes.

 

“Sorry about them, I’ll pay for everything.”

 

“Don’t worry about it plus I offered.”

 

“Will you join us now Dahyunie?” For some reason, Mina didn’t like how Sana called for Dahyun but she chose to ignore the feeling.

 

“Yes, If that’s okay with you all.”

 

“Of course it is Dahyun-ah.”

 

Mina scurried to pull the chair next to her for Dahyun, ignoring the looks from her friends across the table that were making her blush.

 

“I hope you like the pastries and drinks. I got this one for you, I’m kinda glad I did since your waffle disappeared.” Dahyun said with a teasing smile pushing a plate of mint chocolate chip cake towards Mina who was surprised since that was her favorite flavor on almost everything.

 

“Since I know Sana unnie already how about you tell me more about yourself Momo-ssi are you also from Japan?” Normally Momo wasn’t good at talking to new people but something about this girl made her feel comfortable. It had nothing to do with the fact that she showed up with a bunch of treats and if the waffle was anything to go by this might be her new favorite place.

 

“Please you don’t have to be formal with me, yes I am. I moved here for school and now I run a dance studio, teach dance classes or work on choreographies for different companies here and there. I also enjoy food a lot and I heard the desserts are delicious here and I gotta say it’s true.”

 

“And how would you know If you haven’t tried any of them yet Momoring,” Mina asked with suspicion in her voice.

 

“Fine I ate your waffle and it was delicious, what did you expect from me when you just left it there so lonely and delicious looking.” 

 

Dahyun continued to be amused by the bickering women.

 

“Anyways, like I said Dahyun, the food is amazing, I think I will be a regular here. I would marry the owner if I wasn’t getting married already just to get the perks you know.” 

 

That caused some comments from the other occupants of the table and Dahyun couldn’t help but laugh

 

“Hey!”

“Momo!”

 

Momo just gave a sheepish look towards them.

 

“Sorry, Satang but you can’t bake how about if we both marry them.” Sana couldn’t believe this was the love of her life.

 

“Fine by me but I don’t think the owner’s girlfriend would like that but we can ask her” Sana turned towards Mina with a teasing smile.

 

“So Mina, what do you think about Momo’s marriage proposal?” Dahyun asked.

 

“Why would Mina kno- wait.”

 

“I have no issue with it, but If Sana is okay with it”

 

Dahyun’s smile dropped at Mina’s words; that's not what she was expecting.

 

“You would be willing to let this funny and charming person and not to mention the perks of dating a cafe owner go?”

 

“I’m sure if you marry both of them I would still get the coffee benefits.”

 

Oh, Mina was enjoying this. The look of betrayal and disbelief on Dahyun’s face was priceless and it was taking everything in her not to laugh.most of all she enjoyed how they all became comfortable and just felt like they all had been friends since forever.

 

“Since my girlfriend has no issues with it, I guess I can accept your proposal.”

 

“Sorry Dahyun but as delicious as the food is, I wouldn’t dare steal Minari’s girlfriend, girl code and all -“ Momo made a gesture for Dahyun to get closer to whisper “also I’m scared of her.”

 

Mina rolled her eyes at the failed attempt of a whisper and defamation of character, but when she turned she found a pouting Dahyun.

 

Sana had been quiet just observing her friends and her fiancé, as annoying as she was, she couldn’t help the smile at how the younger girl and Momo had felt at ease with each other instantly and how Mina had been looking happy.

 

They continued talking, sharing some more about each other and sharing stories about their youth until it was time for Sana and Momo to leave.

 

Mina had forgotten about the whole fake dating as everything felt so natural she was relieved from the pressure of her friends finding out and everything going downhill but everything was fine. They were almost done with this for today. Sana and Momo were just bidding their farewells. Mina could see the light when suddenly a small voice came followed by a tiny body thrown at Dahyun’s legs.

 

“Hyunnie!”

 

“TzuTzu!”

 

Dahyun bent down to pick up the little girl.

 

“Look who’s here, it’s Ms. Sana”

 

“Ms. Sana!!” The excited child screamed causing the few customers to turn their way.

 

“Hey Tzu, you came to visit your auntie?”

 

“Yes! Did you come to visit her too? Did you try all her food? She makes the most delicious cookies and cake!”

 

“I came to try them because I remembered you telling me about it and I just had to try them out too.”

 

“Did you like them?”

 

“I did, we all did.”

 

That’s when the girl noticed the other women. Before Tzuyu could ask questions Dahyun directed her attention toward her sister that was making her way toward the small group 

 

“Hey Hyo, you guys are here early.”

 

“Yes, sorry Nayeon got the reservation time mixed up and we have to be there earlier, are you still good to babysit? hey Sana”

 

“Hello!”

 

“Sorry, Jihyo this is Momo, Sana’s fiancé and this is Mina-“ that’s when she realized the situation that was about to happen she noticed Sana and Momo looking at her, and she quickly gave Mina an apologetic look.

 

“My my girlfriend. Mina, this is my sister Jihyo.”

 

“I’m sorry what?” Jihyo had been caught off guard she wasn’t sure she heard that right.

 

“What?”

 

“Girlfriend?”

 

“Yes, that’s me nice to meet you,” Mina responded, making Jihyo turn towards her, making her shy away closer to Dahyun. On the other side Sana and Momo, even though they could relate to the feeling, couldn't help but find this funny as an awkward silence took place between the newly introduced couple and Jihyo.

 

“Are you gonna be my auntie now?” all the adults turned to the tiny voice with hopeful eyes, everyone still grasping at what the child had said. 

 

No one knew what to reply to the little girl, so after an awkward silence Sana spoke up.

 

“Alright well, its time for us to leave as we have wedding duties, it was nice seeing everyone,” Sana said 

 

“Nice meeting you all, lets get dinner next time Dahyun our treat,Mitang call you later?” Momo said making a phone motions towards Mina the later just nodding and waving at the couple as they exited the building.

 

Jihyo got a message and as much as she wanted to question her sister about her girlfriend Nayeon was waiting, “it was nice to meet you im sorry i cant stay longer but how about you both come by for dinner at our house some time this week.”

 

They didn't have a chance to respond properly as the older woman was already making her exit in a hurry to tell her wife about the newfound information about her sister's love life, “i'll text Hyun to set it up, Dahyun you got some explaining to do,have fun, by love.” Dahyun was sure how her sister could go from friendly to scary to loving all in a span of seconds.

 

“Bye, mommy!” Little Tzuyu’s tiny but loud voice was heard throughout the cafe. Yeah, she was definitely Jihyo's daughter.

 

“Are you gonna hang out with us too?” Tzuyu asked Mina with the biggest puppy eyes, surprising Dahyun as she normally was a shy child.

 

Mina did not have the heart to break the girl’s hope and from what she heard Dahyun will be babysitting so she could tag along Momo and Sana already thought she had plans with Dahyun she could at least seal the deal with this.

 

“If Dahyun is okay with it sure, I don't want to crash your time together.”

 

“Can she Hyunnie?” Tzuyu now gives the puppy eyes toward Dahyun.

 

“Noo!..  I mean you wouldn't be I just don't want you to change your plans or feel obligated that’s all,”

 flushed face Dahyun replied.

 

“Alright then it’s settled I’ll tag along with you two,”

 

“Yay!! Can we go to the arcade?”

 

“Are you okay with that?” Dahyun checked in with Mina as she didn't want her to feel uncomfortable.

 

“It's your night I'm just tagging along I’m okay anywhere you want to go.”

 

“Alright then let's head to the arcade,” Dahyun said.

 

“Yay!!” Tzuyu moved on to grab Mina’s hand and pulled her towards the exit, this time taking both women by surprise but they just went along with it.

 

They all spent a few hours in the arcade with the small girl jumping from game to game just excited to be there until it was time to go. They decided to grab some dinner before heading back to Dahyun's apartment.

 

They were waiting for their food as they opted for take-out from a place close to Dahyun’s apartment when Dahyun saw a familiar face walking toward her in the restaurant, 

 

“Hey Mina, remember when I said that this situation would also benefit me.”

 

Mina was a bit confused as she had been entertaining the child when Dahyun called for her, Mina was still trying to understand what Dahyun said when she heard a deep voice calling for the pale woman.

 

“Hey, Dahyun-ah, lucky of  me for running into you here,”  

 

“Hi,sunbae, funny running into you here,” Dahyun said in an awkward voice.

 

“maybe it was meant to be, how about we grab some dinner since we are both here.” the guy said with what he thought was a flirty smile but to Dahyun and anyone else, it looked creepy and annoying.

 

“No thank you, already have plans wi-.” Dahun politely declined like all the other times he had been asking her out and she had rejected him before he cut her off.

 

“Thats what you say everytime, why wont you ever accept my offer to go on a date Dahyun?” the man asked with an exasperated look.

 

The buzzer that lets them know their food was ready, vibrated in Mina’s hand just in time so she could pull the shorter aways from this man.

 

“Because she is taken, now i will ask this kindly only  once leave my girlfriend alone” Mina responded with a harsh but low tone paired with a smile on her face as she pulled Dahyun towards her and interlaced their hands and turned towards the shorter woman with the most sweet look “love our food is ready and Tzu is tired let's head out.”

 

Dahyun was still surprised by the whole situation, how Mina managed to scare a man twice her size, how her low voice sounded so attractive and especially at the pet name she used for her. She was in a trance as they walked out of the restaurant with food in hand until she heard Tzuyu speak.

 

“Hyunnie, can we watch the secret life of pets when we get home?” Right they were going home that’s when she realized they had been walking without any guidance luckily they were heading the right way 

 

“We definitely can if Mina is okay with watching it.”

 

Mina now had two sets of eyes looking at her expectantly.

 

“Are you guys kidding? That's my favorite movie.”
