unedited and i started to write this quickly while at work and i actually finished it?? happy valentines! happy wenseul month! happy wenseul day!

"okay seul, what are you sulking about?" fifteen-year-old joohyun finally paused her reading and turned to her five-year-old cousin, seulgi who had been building legos and had been sighing for the last ten minutes.

the high schooler was sent here since her parents is spending their 10th wedding anniversary on a cruise and the kangs could use some help in the household since both her aunt and uncle are busy with their restaurant while her other cousin, junmyeon is as helpful as a male high schooler that leaves her younger cousin, seulgi without company most of the time.

between being alone in the house and spending her break with her arguably favorite cousin, it was a no-brainer for joohyun.

joohyun tilted her head a bit when seulgi failed to respond and when she's about to touch the pre-schooler's shoulder when she suddenly heard a sob.

"wha--"

seulgi finally turned to her with her eyes shining with tears. "unnie," the kid whined, "unnie, wannie.." she tried to say while her sobs made it hard to speak, "ddeulgi think wannie is mad at ddeulgi...!" then the floodgates broke and her adorable little cousin sobbed on her shirt.

joohyun's heart broke a little seeing her little cousin cry so hard with snot and all but knowing how seulgi and her best friend, wannie were, she was sure that this was some kinda an adorable misunderstanding so she couldn't help but find her cousin a little more adorable.

nonetheless, she tried to comfort her cousin by her wild mane shushing and cooing her.

unbeknownst to the cousins, in the household next door, almost the same thing is transpiring with seungwan, the wannie seulgi was crying about and her babysitter, twelve-year-old sooyoung.

"alright, i'll bite, what are you fuming about you little spawn?" sooyoung asked, sounding a bit bored and annoyed having to put down her manga and also of the fact that it's valentine's day and instead of stalking seeing her high schooler crush she's here babysitting.

"what,"

sooyoung gave a deadpan look but the little devil responded in kind and there had been a short hostile staring contest before the babysitter broke it off sighing annoyedly.

"you had been grunting for the last ten minutes i thought you turned into a rabid dog," sooyoung smirked when the devil's spawn's frown deepened. when the child didn't answer and only sat on the sofa, still frowning sooyoung finally felt the teasing mood dissipate. "hey, kid," she called softly, "seriously, is everything alright?" she asked, "you know i'll try to help you i can, right?"

there is a vulnerable look on seungwan's face that makes sooyoung's heart soften. her charge may normally behave like a spawn of satan at times, but seungwan is honestly quite a sweet kid. it's just that she has her own way of getting attention since her parents are not always at home to give it to her.

the frown on seungwan's face deepened and sooyoung could see how her eyes started to shine in tears. "u-unnie," the child sobbed.

sooyoung felt a little choked seeing her usually mischievous charge looking so much like a..child. she couldn't help but move and cradle seungwan, "what is it? are you hurt?"

when seungwan's tearful eyes looked up at her sooyoung felt her heart break a little, "ddeulgi.." the child started, and at the mention of the name, sooyoung felt a little relieved, now sure that it's probably not something serious if it involves the bear-like kid next door. "..my ddeulgi got a new best friend...!"

joohyun is still trying to comfort seulgi who somehow calmed down to soft sniffles when the doorbell rings so she reluctantly leaves her dongseng to answer the door. as soon as she opens the door, she was greeted by a somehow familiar-looking girl at the door, carrying a small child whose back is on her, joohyun knows by the child's coconut hair seulgi's wannie.

there was a surprised look on the girl in front of her, "h-hey!" the girl greeted, smiling awkwardly, her cheeks pink probably because of the effort to carry the child in her arms, "im sooyoung, seungwan's babysitter, is seulgi home?" there's an unsure and resigned smile that joohyun understood immediately. it seems like seulgi is not the only one feeling bad about the misunderstanding that led to this fight.

wordlessly, she leads the pair to the living area where a slumped seulgi is still sniffling albeit softly. when joohyun and the newcomers arrived, her cousin tried to sit upright. the older girl with seilgi's wannie settled the girl she was carrying next to seulgi.

joohyun and probably sooyoung expected them to be all over each other (like what the both of them witnessed before albeit in different times) but there was a palpable awkwardness in the air and the two kids remained quiet. she was about to open to speak and help the kids to settle whatever misunderstanding they had but sooyoung impatiently beat her to it.

"alright little shi--" 

"--language please!" joohyun cut her off.

"--sheeps," sooyoung segway-ed looking at joohyun apologetically, "what happened here?" she asked using her index finger to motion between them.

there was a moment of silence and joohyun was about to speak again when both girls started crying..loudly.

"ddeulgi has a new best friend!"

"wannie is mad at ddeulgi!"

the two kids exclaimed amid tears and snot. then turned to each other before exclaiming at the same time: "that's not true! you're my best friend!"

trying hard not to chuckle in amusement, joohyun could already see how this was gonna end so she facilitated the two hardheaded and sensitive kids to talk.

"okay, kids, listen. i'm pretty sure both of you are on the same page. you're each others' best friend, right?" both nodded, "but your feelings are hurt, and i'm sure that there had been a thing that the two of you failed to understand with each other..why don't we talk about this,"

the kids are in-sync answering:

"okay unnie,"

"yes, unnie,"

the older girl smiled. "okay let's start with ddeulgi, why do you think wannie is mad at you?"

seulgi sniffed before answering, "wannie left to go home even if ddeulgi is not yet finished with my story about the valentines' day in preschool,"

although living in the same neighborhood, seulgi and seungwan are not going to the same preschool since seungwan's parents insist she go to a more exclusive private preschool.

turning their attention to seungwan, sooyoung gently asked, "and why did you leave ddeulgi alone? isn't it rude to leave while someone is talking?"

sooyoung might call seungwan the devil spawn with how mischievous she could be but she knows seungwan is not a rude kid, especially with seulgi.

"d-ddeulgi got some kisses from jackson! i'm her best friend she should only get kisses from me!"

this made sooyoung blink, she turned to the older girl who looked as surprised as she is. but before either of the older girl say anything, they hear seulgi gasp.

"b-but i took them because i wanted to share them with you,"

now this made the two older girls and seungwan frown.

"wait hold up," sooyoung interrupted, "you wanted to share jackson's kisses with seungwan?"

seulgi eagerly nods and pulled something from her pocket.

the older girls' mind were in sync thinking the same thing, ahh, those kind of kisses.

"oh," seungwan said, anticlimactic, "you meant chocolates," she clarified, feeling a little silly.

"of course!" seulgi confirmed before blinking, "eww! did wannie think ddeulgi got kiss-kiss from jackson?" seungwan blushed looking anywhere but at her best friend, "ddeulgi gets kisses fro wannie only, wannie gets kisses from ddeulgi too..because we are best friends! not jackson, not sejeong!" seulgi finished kissing seungwan on the cheek.

like it was some kind of knee-jerk reaction, seungwan kissed seulgi's cheek when the other girl turned her face. "wannie is sorry ddeulgi,"

although both joohyun and sooyoung had been watching the two kids when they play, this is the first time they are learning how affectionate the two are with each other--not that this is such an unexpected thing seeing how clingy and needy both kids are with each other.

and in no time, seulgi and seungwan was in their own little world again, ignoring the older girls.
