Lovers Ride

Description

"You should enjoy yourself more, Taeil. Besides today is a big holiday." Sometimes words are enough to reassure someone not to worry about anything. But it's different for Taeil, he somehow had a weird hunch about tonight. He's out in the grand fair where all people enjoy all the entertainment -from simple games to thrilling rides.

"Here's the thing hyung, tonight is fun and games. Don't be a kill joy." Jungwoo tap on the elder's shoulder, smiling.

"I think I will make the best out of this night. You two can leave me, I want to wander around the area Jungwwo and Haechan, please?" Taeil used his ace card -the aegyo to look cute in order for the two to agree with his proposal. Both Jungwoo and Haechan sighed in defeat as the part ways with Taeil.

Taeil placed both hands in his hoodie as he looks around to observe the displays at the fair. He got amused by the prizes on the shooting range stand, a fluffy toy. While walking pass by a few stalls, his eyes were darted in a familiar structure -the ferris wheel.

Without any hesitaton Taeil went to get a ticket for the ride. He held the ticket as the line is quite short after buying it. "I hope I can get an empty cart."

Taeil looks around with his beautiful voice humming a music until...

"Johnny."

Taeil muttered the moment he spots a tall lad wearing an all-black outfit approaching his way in a casual manner. He got back to his senses when
the in-charge of the ride told him to get inside one of the room in the ferris wheel.

"Wait for me!" A familiar tone landed on Taeil's ear as Johnny joins him inside the cart.

No matter what Taeil tried to do he can't deny the fact he's with the person whom he poured his love a year ago...

Johnny. He's the known lad in their community both him and Taeil went into the the same college, having common friends. It wasn't hard for anyone to fell for a sweet person. Especially Johnny who's the talk of the town but among those who's head over heels for him there's Taeil who is secretly crushing his close friend.

One day, Johnny decided to hang out with his friends to a nearby carnival since he missed his hometown and the atmosphere reminded him of home.

"Taeil, would you like to go with me in the ferris wheel? It'll be fun." Johnny insisted, tugging Taeil by the arm.

Taeil wanted to turn down the offer but it's his chance to confess his hidden feelings for Johnny...

"It's been a while since we last seen each other."

An awkward statement broke the silence between them as the ferris wheel got loaded with people in different carts, slowly getting up as it moves.

"It's been a long time since I've seen you, Johnny. I can still remember..." Taeil was about to say something when Johnny cut off his sentence.

"Taeil, you're aware why I didn't..."

"I know. That's why I still remember how I made myself a fool for telling you how I felt for you a year ago. Johnny, it felt like we're in a thrilling ferris wheel ride, the ups and downs but the difference is we kept on going round and round into an endless queue of nothingness." The corner of Taeil's eyes were about to brim with tears but he's holding it just to save himself from what might reoccur again.

Johnny tried to reach for Taeil's hand, to comfort him with his voice concerned. The ride stopped at the top most part of the ferris wheel where the wind is cool, peaceful but their conversation is a little heated.

"I'm sorry if I didn't see you like the way you did for me. I... I didn't have the courage to like you back and I had to leave town for other reasons but you know what Taeil... Each time I was away with you, I pondered on every word you told me. And I want you to know that I'm ready now, Taeil. I'm ready to set things straight and work it out." Johnny's sincere apologies were heartfelt, Taeil knew he's sorry for the treatment he got after confessing; all the cold treatment that broke off their friendship to begin with.

Silence. A long, agonizing silence filled their cart as Taeil let Johnny hold his hand. Both were quiet not wanting to speak of a word. The ride went on for another round, as if letting them think within a small span of time.

When the ride is about to be over, Taeil let out a sharp sigh as he stared at Johnny. "Because of you I learned what it means to ride the ferris wheel, Johnny. I learned that even if the ride ends you can go and try to repeat it again since it picks you up; as if you're in an endless happiness. But this time, I don't want to repeat the same thing. I want to pick myself up from the yesterday's heartbreak..."

And so Taeil hopped off from the ride when it stopped leaving Johnny all alone inside the cart, as the wheel paused so does their directions that seemed to be blocked.
