Prologue

I'm Yours

A loud beeping sound was heard in the background and Sora peeled her eyes open to see bright light shine through her window blinds. She turned around in the bed to see on her desk her phone, which seemed to be going off. Groaning, she sat up, brushing her black curly hair away from her face in irritation and grabbed for her phone blindly.

“Hello?” she asked, not even bothering to check who called her but was going to give them a piece of her mind for waking her up so early. Wait what time is it even? She glanced at the clock to see the time and realized it was almost near noon.

“Did I wake you love? I’m sorry.” Taeyong? She heard a gentle voice reply back and looked at the phone screen to confirm that it really was her husband who was supposed to be at work. Sora yawned before replying back, also forcing herself to get out from the warm blankets.

“No, no thank you for waking me up. I should have been up earlier.” Sora stood up and stretched before she headed to the bathroom to freshen up for the day. She sluggishly made her way towards the door to the sink and opened the taps to wash her face.

“You can sleep in whenever you want love, there isn’t a time you should be up. You work too hard anyways with taking care of the house and the kids. I really would like to hire another maid and a butler to take care of the stuff around the house, but you refuse it.” She could hear him pout through the phone and rolled her eyes, but she did have a small smile on her face.

“Because I don’t like being home and doing nothing.” She replied back and turned the phone on to the speaker before placing it down next to the sink. She grabbed her spring like hair and pulled away from her face while she looked for her hair tie. Why is it that whenever I need a hair tie, I can never find one? She soon saw a stretched out one in the corner of the sink and grabbed it in exasperation.

“But you’re not doing nothing, you’re taking care of the kids.” Taeyong replied back and Sora heard some papers being shuffled in the background.

“The kids take after you though. They try their hardest to make my life easier, but they end up making a bigger mess.” She and she laughed when she heard his yell come through the phone. She started to brush her teeth when she heard her husband heave a sigh.

“Well can you blame us for loving you so much?” Sora hummed into the phone, which helped Taeyong understand she couldn’t speak and continued to talk. “Anyways I had called because I needed a favor from you.” Sora spit out the paste in and cleaned it out quickly so she could talk to her husband again.

“What’s wrong?” She asked and turned the faucet on again to wash her face. She noticed in the mirror how much her mocha skin seemed to have become darker under her eyes and she sighed quietly to herself. Why haven’t I had any ideas for those new dresses yet?

“I left in a hurry this morning and forgot to grab my laptop. There is a file on my laptop that I need for the day. Would you be able to send that file to my email?” Sora patted her face dry with the towel and hurried over to the laptop that was in her husband’s study. She opened it and turned it on, only to realize she didn’t know the password.

“What’s the password to get into your laptop Tae?” She asked but raised her eyebrows when she heard a squeak come through the phone.

“Uhh, it’s kind of long so write it down somewhere first.” Taeyong replied back hesitantly, and Sora looked around the desk to find anything she could write with and write on. Finding a sticky note and pen, she quickly grabbed both and turned towards her phone.

“All right I’m ready.” It went silent on the other side and she got worried. “Tae?”

“Ok it’s S-O-R-A-I-S-A-C-U-T-I-E-A-N-D-A-N-Y-O-N-E-W-H-O-D-O-E-S-N-T-T-H-I-N-K-S-O-C-A-N-F-I-G-H-T-M-E.” Sora quickly wrote everything down and glanced at the paper in wonder.

“That is a long passwo….”Sora kept staring at the paper and recognized the first four letters were her name. She quickly wrote down the password again without spaces and stared at the password before she started laughing. “Tae..what?” She was laughing so hard that tears started to form in her eyes.

“You are cute ok? And I will fight anyone who doesn’t think so humph!” Taeyong muttered into the phone and Sora was trying to control her laughter enough to where she could function again but shook her head at her husband’s silliness.

“Yeah yeah, you goof. All right I’m in now. Where is the file?”

“Look for a file that says ‘project budget and data 2021. It should be in the desktop.” Sora looked around the screen until she found the folder she was looking for.

“Found it. You want me to just send this to you through my email?” Sora asked while opening up her email on the laptop.

“Yeah that would be great.” Taeyong said and Sora attached the file to her email before sending it.

“Anything else?” She asked when she heard the door to the study open and she looked up. Jeno poked his head in, followed by Jaemin and Sora smiled at the sight of her twin treasures. “Hey guys. Why didn’t you wake me up this morning?” Jeno waddled over to her with big eyes. Jaemin followed behind with his hands clasped in front of him and he was looking down.

“We’re sorry mommy. We only wanted you to get some sleep.” Jeno mumbled and Jaemin nodded his head, backing his brother up.

“See, I told you the boys and I just care about you.” Taeyong said over the phone and Jaemin jumped up when he heard his father’s voice.

“Daddy! Daddy will come home early so we can play?” Jaemin yelled into the phone and scampered onto Sora’s lap, kneeing her in the legs at the same time, causing her to wince.

“Jaemin! You’re hurting mommy!” Jeno whined to his brother and Sora quickly patted Jeno on the head to calm him down before pulling him up to her lap too.

“I’m sorry mommy.” Jaemin looked back at Sora with puppy eyes and she couldn’t help but smother him into her arms.

“Aww it’s ok baby. Mommy’s ok.” There was a sudden yell on the other side of the phone and the three looked over at the device.

“I ASKED FOR THIS TO BE DONE BY YOU NOT THE INTERN! DO YOU THINK IT IS THE INTERNS JOB TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MUCH INFORMATION ON THESE KIND OF THINGS! IF YOU YOURSELF CANNOT DO THIS PROJECT THEN I WILL GIVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE! HOW DARE YOU GIVE YOUR JOB TO SOMEONE ELSE TO FINISH AND THEN TAKE THE CREDIT? EITHER GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER OR YOU ARE FIRED!” Sora blinked before turning towards the boys and helping them off her lap.

“Why don’t you guys go back to the living room and watch some tv. I will be right there, and we can bake some brownies, sound good?” The twins nodded and ran out the room, shutting the door behind them. Sora then took the phone off of speaker and held it up to her ear.

“Tae?” She didn’t get any response and got worried, so she called out his name again. “Taeyong?” She heard a sigh this time and she relaxed when she heard her husband’s voice.

“I’m here. I’m fine. I’m just fed up with people who think they can do whatever they want because they have a higher job position than others.” He sighed again and Sora couldn’t help but feel bad. She knew how badly Taeyong wanted honest workers, but it was so hard to find people with the experience and the work ethics in this horrible world.

“I’m sorry Tae.” She whispered but she heard a chuckle from him instead.

“You don’t have to feel sorry about this love. I should consider myself lucky that I still have such a great team to work with. Even if a few of them are idiots.” Sora smiled at this but didn’t go much into the topic.

“Did you get the email?” she asked, and she heard a few clicks before she heard him hum in agreement.

“Yes, I got it. That’s all I wanted darling. Sorry I woke you up again.” Taeyong apologized but Sora shook her head.

“Don’t be sorry. If you hadn’t called me then I would have been still sleeping.” She left the study room and walked towards the living room where the children were. A few maids who were cleaning the hallway paused and bowed when they spotted her but she just nodded at them and waved at them to keep working.

“Are you still having a hard time with those dress designs for the spring fashion show in Paris next month?" Taeyong asked, already knowing why his wife wasn’t getting the amount of rest she needed. Sora hummed and paused at the end of the hallway where the living room was connected to. “You will get some ideas soon. How about this? We can drop the kids off with either Anna or Hana and you and I can go on a quick trip to Europe next week to help you find some inspiration, how does that sound?” Sora peeked into the living room and saw the twins fully engrossed into the tv before replying.

“Next week? Don’t you have that important meeting with the CEO of the Seo company?”

“I’m sure Johnny wouldn’t mind discussing the details over that meeting over some dinner this weekend when Hana and him come over.” Oh that’s right. Johnny took over the CEO position already.

“If we can do that then that would be great.” Sora replied and she heard Taeyong calling his secretary to come to the office.

“All right let’s do that then. We can talk more about this when I get home tonight, okay?” Taeyong asked and Sora nodded her head.

“Okay. Thank you Tae.” She whispered and she smiled when she heard her husband’s next words.

“I’ll do anything for you, you know. I love you.” Sora blushed and she placed a hand over her chest where her heart was. She could feel it pounding heavily and she tried to calm herself down. “I’ll talk to you soon okay?”

“Okay. I love you too Tae.” Sora repeated the words back before hanging up the phone. She quickly hurried back towards her bathroom to finish getting ready for the day and walked back towards the living room to the kids. After serving them an afternoon snack, Sora was in the kitchen preparing lunch with the help from the maids when she thought about the statement Taeyong made earlier about doing anything for her. She could feel the fire in her cheeks but she couldn’t help but smile at the thought of the man she married. He was always calm and collected when around other people, but when it is just them two, he becomes a cheesy goofball. He always has pick up lines ready to use on her when she becomes upset and just becomes a shoulder to cry on when she needs someone to just be her comfort. Her thoughts were soon distracted by her two children who wanted to help her with baking brownies for dessert later. The day quickly passed with her and the twins baking the brownies and she had sent them off to get cleaned off from the flour battle they had earlier. As she was wiping away the counter top, she heard the door open and she saw her husband walk in through the door. His suit coat was hanging off his arm and the sleeves on his shirt were rolled up showing his forearms. He reached for the tie that was around his neck and tugged at it and heaved a sigh when the tie showed no signs of becoming loose.

“You’re only going to make it tighter.” Sora commented and walked closer to where her husband was, who was smiling from ear to ear when he saw her. “How was your day?” she asked while reaching up to remove the tie, her slender fingers undoing the knot that had formed in the tie. She glanced up at his face and noticed how messy his hair had become. It’s even gotten longer. His cheeks became slightly hollow and the bags under his eyes became more prominent. He had become paler, which she didn’t think could be more possible.

“Well you already heard the fiasco that happened earlier. I used that as a reason to have all of the employees come to the meeting room and talk to them about respecting other people. Then I had a meeting with the shareholders about the company finances. All in all it was a very, very long day.” He huffed out before leaning down to rest his head on Sora’s shoulder. She was finally able to undo the tie and left it alone on his neck before reaching up to pat Taeyong’s cheeks. I can feel his cheekbones. Sora grew more worried about her husband and his face.

“Why don’t you go take a shower hmm? We can eat something when you’re done and then go to bed.” Sora asked when she felt his arms wrap around her and tugged her closer before burying his face into her neck.

“Can’ t I just go straight to bed?” He mumbled and she brushed his hair away from his face.

“Taking a shower will help you feel a bit better. And you have to eat something Tae, please.” She begged him and she heard him sigh before he lifted his head to look down at her. He smiled at her before lifting his hand to her cheek.

“All right. Anything for you.” He consented and Sora smiled back and held the hand that was her cheek and he leaned down to kiss her forehead. He leaned even more down and she leaned up to kiss him, which ended up being more of a peck when they heard the sound of tiny feet running towards them causing them to pull apart.

“Daddy!” The twins screamed and Taeyong let Sora go before bending down to catch the twins in his arms before standing up.

“Hey guys! Did you miss me?” Taeyong asked and Jeno wrapped his arms around his father’s neck while Jaemin nodded and opened his arms wide.

“I missed you this much daddy!” Sora laughed and kissed Jaemin on the cheek. Jeno pulled his face away from his father’s and held Taeyong’s face in his tiny fingers, making sure he had his father’s attention.

“Daddy, will you play with us today?” Taeyong nodded with a smile before bending down to place the kids on the floor again.

“Of course! But first, daddy needs to go take a shower.” Jaemin went behind Taeyong when he heard that and started to push Taeyong with all of his might.

“Then hurry daddy! Stop standing around all day.” Sora wanted to tell the kids to not bother their father for the day but Taeyong caught her eye and shook his head at her so she kept quiet. Taeyong then laughed and pretended to slow down, which caused Jaemin to let out a sound of protest.

“Jeno! Come help me!” Jaemin shouted and Jeno quickly ran to help his brother. Without a warning, Taeyong took off in a sprint, causing the kids to stumble before they started to run after their father while laughing. Sora stared the three boys that just ran away and she couldn’t help but shake her head with fondness. She returned to the kitchen only to see the maids putting everything away and finishing up with cleaning.

“Thank you.”Sora said and the maids smiled and bowed to her before resuming to finish cleaning. Sora walked into the kids room to see them pulling out their pajamas while animatedly talking to each other about what all they could play with their father. She walked into the room and watched them help each other with their clothing and brush each other's hair. She had suggested on a movie night so they can have the brownie and ice cream while watching the movie, which the kids happily agreed to. Seeing that everything in this room was under control, Sora headed over to her room and saw Taeyong standing in front of the mirror wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants, a towel hanging around his neck. Sora walked closer and saw that he was staring at the picture she had stuck on the mirror earlier that day. It was the day of their wedding and they were standing in front of the altar staring at each other. The photo was edited to make it seem as if the background was blurred away and it was just them.

“I found it earlier today when I was going through a box in the attic.” Sora said and Taeyong turned around to look at her. He didn’t say anything for a few seconds before he reached out and pulled her closer to him and held her tightly in his arms. Sora wrapped her arms around him as she laid her head against his shoulder.

“I love you.” he said. It was gentle and quiet but those three words held a lot of power between these two. To Taeyong, Sora was his best friend, his confidant, and someone that knew him inside and out. To Sora, Taeyong was someone she relied on, her comfort, and as cheesy as it sounds, someone who holds her heart. They both needed each other and they both were happy to have found each other. Sora had pulled away and held Taeyong’s face in her hands before leaning up to kiss him. His grip around her tightened and they pulled away before he rested his forehead against hers.

“I love you too.” She whispered back and they both stood there in each other’s embrace, basking in each other's presence.
