Yesung sighed as he plopped himself down into his seat. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes for a moment, relaxing himself. Finally, they were going to perform in front of fans for the first time in more than a year. Even though they were only going to perform in front of a handful of front liners, Yesung was grateful for the opportunity to show his gratitude to fans and those who were putting themselves at risk to protect everyone else.

“Ah, the weather is so nice today! Perfect weather for a concert today, isn’t it, Yesungie?” Yesung turned to his side and looked upon his leader, looking slightly tired but happy to be there. Leeteuk’s fringe was a mop covering half of his face, his eyebags barely visible under his hair but still present as always. Yesung internally sighed, his hyung never really got enough rest as he never slept early and always had days filled with schedules that required him to rise early.

“Yes, the weather’s quite nice right now,” Yesung noted, “But it could still rain later in the day, Teukie hyung.” Leeteuk just pouted at Yesung behind his mask though the other could tell exactly what the elder was doing with the furrowing of his eyebrows.

“Don’t be so pessimistic, Sungie! But, I did check the hourly weather forecast for Busan and the precipitation percentages are projected to be pretty low so we probably don’t need to worry about bad weather.” Yesung nodded. No matter how ditzy Leeteuk appeared to be sometimes, the man actually was always very well prepared and covered all bases usually before the other members had the time to echo “Oeyo!” after Leeteuk. There was really no other member who could be better suited for the role of leader other than Leeteuk.

“Thanks for checking, hyung. That’s one less thing for us to worry about for our set later,” Yesung expressed his gratitude and Leeteuk just beamed back at him, crow’s feet forming at the corner of the other’s eyes. Yesung loved these smiles from Leeteuk, they were always genuine.

After taking their customary pictures with each other and of the plane to update to their SNS accounts, they settled into their seats, waiting for the plane to take off. Yesung uncoiled the flimsy earphones that the airline provided and plugged them into his seat as he started to browse the in-flight entertainment system. Being wrapped up in identifying which movies he had yet to watch (which was few since the entertainment system wasn’t that updated and featured blockbusters from half a year ago), he didn’t realize that the plane had already taken off until he felt pressure build up in his ears. He quickly yawned to pop that bubble of pressure.

“Smooth takeoff,” he commented to Leeteuk, who just nodded in agreement before leaning over to Yesung’s side, resting his chin on the other’s shoulder as he peered over. Leeteuk scanned the contents on Yesung’s screen before humming softly.

“There isn’t really a big selection of movies, huh?”

“Well,” Yesung reasoned, “The flight isn’t even long enough for one to watch a full movie. We’re lucky that this flight even bothered to have in-flight entertainment.” Leeteuk gave a small “Mmm” in agreement before his hand outstretched and tapped at the screen for a few moments until something caught his interest. Yesung read the title on the screen, ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’. He’d seen a few trailers but never had the chance to watch the movie.

“Wanna watch this one? I saw a poster of it outside my house and it seems interesting,” Leeteuk suggested as he rubbed at his eyes in a manner that Yesung could only describe as adorable.

“Sure,” Yesung replied as he tugged off the right side of his earpiece, the airplane’s white noise from the engines filling his ears eagerly. He passed the earpiece to Leeteuk and the other quickly popped the ear bud while pressing play.

“Did you know, Sungie, that the name Godzilla is a portmanteau of the words gorilla and whale in Japanese? Its Japanese name is Gojira which blends ‘gorira’ and ‘kujira’.” Leeteuk shared as the opening scene started.

“That’s interesting, but what actually is Godzilla’s species?” Leeteuk fell into silent contemplation as the scene grew ominous.

“I honestly don’t know? It looks like a dinosaur to me,” Leeteuk shrugged his shoulders. Yesung just chuckled.

“Well, it’s a kaiju so it’s just a monster, I guess,” Yesung answered as they directed half of their attention to the screen. Nothing interesting was really happening so far. Leeteuk rested his head on Yesung’s shoulder to better see the screen from his angle and Yesung boosted the level of brightness for the other’s benefit. They watched the movie in relative silence other than the occasional comment or gasp of shock whenever one of the monsters appeared on the tiny screen.

This reminded Yesung of all the times the two would review performances after their show, how Yesung would watch on his tiny iPhone screen their Sorry Sorry performances and would share it with Leeteuk. They’d sit squished together at the back of their car, on the way back to the dorm from a schedule, shoulders pressed against each other as they shared his earphones and ran through the performance. Yesung knew that when they got home, Leeteuk would watch the video on repeat till the wee hours in the morning to find any mistakes in the choreography or any points to commend the members for during their breakfast review the next day. Yesung just wanted to give Leeteuk a slight head start before they got back so that Leeteuk could hopefully rest at a slightly earlier hour.

Wrapped up in his nostalgia, he only noticed something was off at the first fight scene when there was practically zero reaction from his companion. From his position, he gently turned his face to gaze upon Leeteuk, who’s eyes were closed, face blank of any emotions, expression relaxed and serene. Yesung bemoaned the fact that they all had to wear masks as even though Leeteuk was sleeping, his dimple would always appear even if his whole face was relaxed. The slightest indentation in Leeteuk’s left cheek that indicated his dimple made Yesung have to physically hold himself back from poking it through the mask in fear of accidentally waking the other up. Yesung just sighed and shook his head softly at his leader. The poor
