Exotopia

Description

A bit of sci-fi, a bit of dystopia, a bit of romance, a bit of growing up, and a bit of genderbending... All coming together in this looong story that has been sitting in my PC for way too long.

Yixing is a young girl who lives a double life in a futuristic world full of technology, where an Algorithm rules everything and everyone, bringing peace and stability. But is everything as nice as it seems? The Philosophical Movement, guided by its leader Kris, is the only place where Yixing really feels at home, and following its ideals the girl wishes to destroy the system she's living in (and maybe even herself).

On top of that, she needs to learn how to get along with Sehun, with whom she has a disastrous relationship - always on the verge of fighting. How will it end?

ALERT! The story will be updated as regularly as possible, but before you throw yourself into this adventure, I must warn you that I still haven't finished writing it (although I have written a lot of chapters already). As you might have inferred from the description, there are (mostly slight) mentions of suicide, death, family fights, and other dark stuff. Please, if you feel uncomfortable with or triggered by any of these topics, don't read it or at least be prepared.

Foreword

“Everyone believes in something. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as they have a strong faith that could serve as a shelter. You know what else everyone does in different ways but with the same function?” Yixing shook her head as a response.

“Thinking. Everyone thinks, everyone has thoughts in their mind. What’s different is how and what they think. And do you know what else thinks?”

“Animals? Plants?” the girl guessed, not really understanding what Sehun was hinting at. She wasn’t even sure that was a lesson, if she had to be honest.

“Machines. Machines can think, Yixing. What they can’t do is thinking like a human being. They are different, they live in a life that's not made of flesh, of blood, of time passing by. Their thoughts are rational, logical, mostly methodical. Their mind is different, their creator is known and able to end or modify their existence in a split second.”
