I'll admit, the last thing I want to be in my final year of Hogwarts is Head Girl. 

My life is simple; I go to class, do my homework, get decent enough grades, have amazing times with my friends, kick on the Quidditch pitch...

I don't need responsibility when my life is perfect and all warm and fuzzy. Hell, I'd already scored a ministry internship even without the Head Girl position. 

Unfortunately the Headmistress has different intentions, I thought as I stared down at the yellow and black badge enclosed in the letter.

"Miss Hei Ran Choi, 

We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to be this year's Head Girl of Hufflepuff House. This badge should be displayed on your school robes at all times. Your new dorm room is on the 6th floor beside the statue of Arctis the Weird. The password is 'grufflepunk'. Your duties begin at the start of term, September 1st at 11:00 am, aboard the Hogwarts Express. Please be in uniform and ready for a meeting on the train. Congratulations!"

I rolled my eyes. Excellent. My family was going wild in the next room, shouting in excitement and pouring out toasts. Since my parents attended, being Head Girl or Boy of a House had become less of a big deal. There used to be only two in the entire school. Now, after the war, enrollment was at an all time high and the system changed to two per Hogwarts House. It was still an impressive position to be awarded, though I wasn't sure why I had been chosen. 

I perked up. Hey, new, giant, special dorm, though! Private bathroom, and I get to dock points. It's not all bad...

...But I wonder who's Head Boy...? 

An owl holding a red envelope knocked on the window. I groaned, recognizing the Lu family's Great Grey immediately. This dork... 

As soon as I let the bird in, he dropped the letter and shot back out the window, not even allowing enough time for me to pet him. The Howler started to smoke and I cringed, knowing that whatever this was, it was going to be as...energetic... as my . 

"HEI RAN! GUESS WHAT??? I'M HEAD BOY, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I WONDER WHO'S HEAD GIRL... MAYBE IT'S EVELYNNE, SHE'S REALLY HOT! OOH, OR MAYBE HANI! THAT'D BE GOOD BECAUSE SHE'S BEEN REALLY NICE TO ME LATELY.... NO NO NO NO, WAIT! I HOPE IT'S YURI! SHE'S SWEET BUT HER BODY IS ING AMAZING HAVE YOU SEEN HER -"

My family poked their heads through the living room door at the commotion and I winced at my best friend's enthusiastic ranting. 

"-HONESTLY THEY'RE LIKE BOWLING BALLS; IT'S SO ATTRACTIVE AND Y. ANYWAY, HEAD BOY! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? THIS IS GREAT! I CAN GIVE DETENTIONS AND TAKE POINTS FROM OTHER HOUSES! THIS YEAR THE PRANKS ARE GOING TO BE EPIC! WRITE ME BACK, LOVE YOU BYE!" 

The Howler fluttered to the ground and all of us stared in stunned silence as our house was no longer filled with Lu Han's screeching voice. I smacked a head to my forehead as my younger sister started to giggle. She always found Lu Han funny, no matter what he did. Even when he switched her wand with a fake one for a whole school day, she still just giggled and let him be. 

I blame his stupid Veela genes... Nobody ever gets mad at him for anything.  Except me. 

"Well," my mom said, clearly fighting to keep a smile off her face, "sounds like you're in for an interesting year."
