It Has To Be This

It Has To Be This

His passion for music was admirable - Hyolyn couldn't find that in anyone else but herself. So by default, she was drawn to the man whose voice was like honey, and talent was unbeatable. Every moment he sang for her, she would lose herself in his voice. Only the music she enjoyed did this same thing to her, but she always found herself indescribably impressed by him.

Jooyoung switched his position in the seat in front of the piano, and looked up at the woman with a waiting smile, "So?"

Hyolyn could only shake her head from side to side in awe for a moment, almost speechless, "You didn't have to ask me for help with this at all, this song is beautiful."

Jooyoung couldn't help but chuckle in both embarrassment and appreciation. It was true that he loved the song he wrote and composed himself, but he needed that reassurance. "Thank you," was all he could muster the chance to say before beginning to put his papers away into his folder he brought around with him. As he did, he hadn't noticed that Hyolyn came from the other side of the piano and sat down next to him in the seat that barely even sat him.

Her fingers try to find the notes that he had played as she pressed down on every key until she finally found what she could remember and began to play the same song Jooyoung had played for her. Albeit slower and choppy, it was the song. Just as impressed as she was for him, Jooyoung could admit that he felt the same for her. He paused with what he was doing and watched her slim fingers as they worked the keys of the piano. He couldn't help but hum along, even holding a note as she tried her best to find the next key until he eventually had his hand on top of hers, guiding her fingers to play the right ones.

Hyolyn began humming along as well, until eventually Jooyoung started to sing his lyrics, only softly as he wasn't sure if she memorized those also or not. And as he wasn't sure, she began to sing the lyrics. At this point, being impressed by her was a mere understatement. Before he knew it, his song became a duet, with Hyolyn harmonizing beautifully. It was a perfect fit for her husky, yet angelic voice, and if his voice was like honey, hers was in no doubt like butter.

As they came to from their session, Hyolyn couldn't help but let out a sigh in awe. Her eyes were off the piano and now at the man sitting next to her. She smiled at him and brought a hand to his leg to squeeze gently in affection and assurance, "This is it... It has to be this one." Jooyoung could only nod in agreement until he eventually looked back at her and finally pulled his hand away from her own. "Your talent is...incredible. Honestly." She beamed brighter at him before standing from the seat and walks to the other end of the studio to grab her bag.

In actuality, she was trying her best to collect herself from the moment. It was hard to put in words how she felt exactly, but she couldn't control her own heart beating. She felt an adrenaline, a feeling she gets when she is motivated, but it wasn't like she wanted to sit down and write some music of her own. It was a feeling she couldn't understand at the moment, but she could compare it to impulsive thoughts.

Looking back at Jooyoung, she noticed that he stayed sat on the seat, his head hung but his fingers on the keyboard of the piano again. Maybe he felt it too, she thought. She hung her bag on her shoulder as she made her way back to him. She places her hand on his shoulder and almost shakes it to get his attention, "Leaving yet?" She simply asks. He nods quickly and stands from the seat finally, reorganizing his folder once again. It was silent between them as Hyolyn waited, and Jooyoung took his time.

He did indeed felt it. There was a shared passion there - a tension he couldn't admit that he felt before. His face turned rosy in an instant as he replayed the moment they shared in his head. Was this going to be a missed opportunity if he didn't act on it now? Or would any action he did at this moment be a reason for missed opportunities in the future? He couldn't wrap his head around an answer, and found himself lost in thought. That was until Hyolyn called for him when he snapped out of it. He held his folder tight in one hand as he turned away from the piano to head to the door with her. He could stay silent, hoping not to do or say anything he know he'll regret.

He pushed the door open for the petite woman he could call his friend, and allowed her out first. He followed her after and looked for the keys to the studio to lock it, as they were the last ones to use it for the night. As he was about to wish her a good night, her hands suddenly cupped his cheeks and pulled him into a sudden kiss. He was surprised, still for just a momemt, before his hands found her waist and returned the kiss when he realized she wasn't pulling away any time soon. Her lips began to move slowly and gently against his own, and he had no other choice but to follow her actions. His heart was pounding; he was right. The tension they shared had led to this, and he didn't hate it one bit.

Before he could possibly move forward with it, Hyolyn finally pulled back and stared at him. "Thanks... this helped ease whatever I was feeling just now." She couldn't help but chuckle from her impulsive action, as she wiped her lips against her wrist. "Sorry if that was so sudden, the music was just so..." Her voice trailed as she tried to find the words.

"Passionate?" Jooyoung finished her sentenced almost out of breath. She could only nod as she stepped back from him. "I thought so too," He admitted. He cleared his throat and looked away in embarrassment.

"Anyway... I'll be heading home now."

She smiled at him innocently and brought a hand up to wave, but Jooyoung grabbed it, and pulled her closer to him again. "Come to my place, tonight." Hyolyn knew where this was going, and she couldn't say she was against the idea. She took his hand into hers as well to link their fingers, giving him a nod in agreement, before they left to head to his apartment.

Chapter 1: Ahh, this was so good. I really like how you were able to describe their voices and set a steamy scene with some . I could picture their whole interaction in my head. This is definitely a hidden gem, author-nim!
