The last thing Joohyun saw was a truck approaching their car while she and her mom screamed in fear and panic while her dad tried to avoid collision but failed.

It was the last scene she witnessed before opening her eyes again only to see the dark.

The black color she hated on clothes,

The ink of a marker that fills the whole page of a book,

The shade of scary nights where she needs to turn the lights on.

The darkness she never wished to find, found her.

“I’m sorry for what happened to you and your family” her silence was interrupted by a voice.

It was a few days after the incident and a day after she was moved to her new hospital room.

Ah, must be a nurse she thought

“Sorry, I kind of asked the nurse about you since you don’t. . . talk?”

Confused. She’s very confused.

And before she could even ask, the voice talked again

“I’m your roommate, by the way. My name is Seulgi. Hello, what’s your name?”

Roommate? But. . .it was quiet yesterday. . .was she not here when I moved in?

“ahhh, I wasn’t really feeling well the day before and not in the mood to talk so, I didn’t get to introduce myself to you immediately. Sorry”

Joohyun was embarrassed when she realized and a simple “oh” was the thing she said.

She heard a giggle, which obviously was from the other girl in their room

“So? What’s your name?”

“I—uhm, I’m Joohyun” she answered, a little bit shy

“Nice to meet you, Joohyun! Finally, it’s been so long since I’ve got myself some company. It gets boring in here, all alone”

She can sense a mixture of gladness and sadness from it,

How long has she been in here exactly? she thought

“How old are you?” Seulgi asked

“30”

She gasps “What?? you look younger than 30! And you’re older than me?! Wow. God must have had favorites”

What a silly roommate.

It made Joohyun chuckle a little bit.

Seulgi noticed that Joohyun had a hard time eating her meal, so she got up from her own hospital bed and sat on Joohyun’s.

“Aigoo unnie you’re gonna get it all over you. Here let me help”

She grabbed the spoon from the older girl’s grip and scooped an ample amount of food and offered it to her
