A month had passed since Minju and Chaewon officially became a couple, their group also grew in numbers, much to Minju’s displeasure. The poor girl couldn’t focus on Chaewon, but also had to deal with a bunch of gays, who were not only noisy, but also dumb in their own way.

“Heyy Chaewonnie, how’s it going with Minju?” Yena asked as she and Yujin proceeded to take their seats opposite the couple.

“Who allowed you to call her Chaewonnie, that’s a nickname only I can call her by, make another nickname for her, you duck.” Minju spat with jealousy, Chaewon once again blushed as she scooted nearer to her girlfriend. But of course the duck was oblivious to Minju’s anger as she wiggled her eyebrows and started to spew her daily nonsense towards the triggered Minju, irritating the girl even more. When Minju glared daggers at her, Yena immediately turned her attention to Chaewon.

“So Chaewonnie, was there anything interesting that happened with Minju over the past month? Is she a good girlfriend?” Yena snickered while Yujin could only shake her head as she prepared herself for Minju’s wrath.

“Call her Chaewonnie once more and this plastic fork will find your way into your nonexistent brain, this is the last warning.” The seething girl disdainfully said.

“O-oh that sounds kinda stupid, a plastic fork can’t do that much damage to me.” The dumbo replied.

“Trust me, when it comes to Minju, she can make anything happen, even things you’ve never thought possible. I’ve seen all sorts of things which made people run in fear.” Yuri interjected as she made her way to sit beside Minju.

And yes, Yuri had already forgiven Minju. It didn’t take much effort, for as soon as Minju explained the situation, once the word “girlfriend” escaped her lips, the very much planned and scripted apology written by the one and only Kim Chaewon went down the drain as Yuri squealed like a little kid. She started jumping up and down with joy while screaming to the entire universe that the Kim Minju with high standards was no longer single. However, once Minju threatened her friend with her very much see through secret of having a crush on Yena, the hamster was immediately silenced, as a blush arose on her cheeks.

“Oo, I see that my elaborate script touched Yuri’s heart and you guys are all okay now.” Chaewon whispered to Minju.

“Trust me, I didn’t even need the script, but that’s a good thing because I didn’t memorise it and would have flunked that apology. You were all I needed.” The younger girl smirked as she turned her attention to the one sitting beside her.

They continued staring at each other until a fry flew past between them. Laughters erupted from the table as Minju’s eyes expressed her burning desire to kill Yena, to which the latter immediately avoided her gaze. She turned towards Yuri as she muttered “How did you fall for such a childish person, my my, I worry for you my dear friend.”

Yuri was about to wage a war when Yujin finally spoke, “Geez, Unnie, respect the singles here, we’re all jealous about your relationship.”

“Says the one that doesn’t even dare to speak to her crush, it’s not that hard. Just go to her and engage in simple talk.” Yena tried to comfort the youngest, but failed because of her choice of words, which resulted in the pouty and sulking Yujin.

“Oh, would you look at the time, Chaewon and I have to go, see you later, and a friendly reminder, don’t be scaredy-cats and talk to your crushes. Who knows, they might like you back.” With that, Minju pulled the confused Chaewon away from the group.

“Min, we don’t have anymore classes today, are you feeling okay?” Chae said as she placed her palm on Minju’s forehead, checking if she was feverish.

“I’m feeling fine, don’t worry, I just wanted to ask you something, let’s go to the rooftop!” The latter responded as she took Chaewon’s hand and intertwined their fingers together.

Both of them positioned themselves comfortably once they reached their destination and faced each other. Minju could tell from her girlfriend’s expression that she was both curious and afraid of the question she was about to pose. Trying to get Chaewon to stop panicking, she then smiled warmly, her expression giving off the vibe of calmness and warmth to the former.

As the golden rays of light shined down upon Minju, Chaewon couldn’t help but think that she was together with a real-life angel as she felt herself becoming more relaxed.

“It’s not a serious question, but rather something that I’ve always been curious about.” Minju paused, scanning for any fear or doubt on the other’s face, when she found none, she continued.

“What do you think love is Chae?” That question made Chaewon falter and unsure of how to answer. Forgetting that Minju was an ace in school, she responded with “True love is a durable fire, in the mind ever burning. Never sick, never old, never dead, from itself never turning.”

“I literally read his book during literature, you just quoted from ‘Walsinghame’ by Sir Walter Raleigh.” Minju deadpanned. Chaewon smiled nervously as she fiddled with her fingers.

“Come on, you can be honest with me, I won’t judge you.” The younger assured her as she drew circles on Chaewon’s back, giving her a sense of comfort.

“W-well alright then, please don’t be offended.” She looked up as Minju nodded slightly, still giving her the warmest smile.

“Well, to be honest, I’m not one to believe in love, sure I have a crush on you, but it’s not as deep as love you know? I’ve seen those around me being in pain and suffering from having to break up, and I guess this kind of made me think that love is all a hearsay, and unless you’re Cupid, love is not really in my dictionary. To sum it up, liking and loving people are of different universes, the feelings and commitment involved has a huge contrast as well. I can only hope to experience love one day, and I hope I get to experience it with you Minju.” Chaewon’s eyes filled with tears but she held it in. She took a glance at Minju and thought that she saw her smile faltering for a second, but pushed it away thinking it may be a fragment of her imagination.

“Well, what about you? What do you consider as love?” She tried changing the depressing mood that surrounded them, which thankfully worked because Minju brightened up.

She looked up at the sky with a dreamy expression, “Love is a feeling that nothing can compare to. Love is the feeling of looking at your other half while having your breath taken away, even if they may just be in casual clothes. Love is being able to imagine a long future with the one you’re with. Love is having simple dates, yet feeling that it’s the best day of your life. Love is being able to be vulnerable with one another and comforting one another. Love is also being able to commit to their partner, and not finding it a burden, because we’re half of each other. That, is what love is to me.”

Chaewon was shocked at the detailed explaination that was just mentioned, and at a loss for words. “I’m sorry Minju, but i’ve never felt those things before..” She said in a low voice, her head lowering from both shame and fear, thinking that Minju might mock her. But she was even more at a lost at the following words that came out from .

“Chaewon, give me 5 dates, I promise that you’ll fall in love with me.” Those words were spoken with so much determination and certainty that Chaewon immediately believed her.

“Moreover, I am the Kim Minju, I can make anyone and everyone fall for me.” She added, while flipping her hair. The duo burst out laughing at their antics.

Minju stood up and offered her hand to Chaewon, “Let’s go home, I’ll walk you there, it’s been a long day.” The image engraved in Chaewon’s brain at the very moment of Minju was of an angel giving hope to those in despair, offering their hand providing security and assurance to everyone. At the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but overthink Minju’s speech of it being a long day, and hoped that she didn’t hurt her girlfriend’s feelings. With a sigh and a heavy heart, Chaewon let herself wallow in pity, as she made her way back together with Minju.

~

“Thank you for walking me home Min-ah, I really appreciate it.”

“Don’t sweat it, I live nearby as well, and I just wanted to make sure you get home safely.” Minju said while standing at Chaewon’s porch,  she then gave her a tight hug, “I’ll see you tomorrow then!” She cheerfully added, as if she wasn’t affected by Chaewon’s words earlier.

“Of course, text me once you’re home as well! Have a good night’s rest Min-min.” The latter responded as she pecked Minju’s cheeks and returned the hug, which resulted in them being a blushing mess.

After reluctant farewells, Minju made her way back home as she prayed that Chaewon would somehow fall in love with her after 5 days.

Date 1

“Chaeee, let’s go on a date after school today! Where do you want to go, any preferences?” Minju asked as soon as she made eye contact with her girlfriend in the hallway.

“Well, there’s this newly released movie that I’ve been dying to watch, it’s called La La Land, do you know that movie?” Chaewon replied. She was then met with her girlfriend’s gasp, which caused her to send a questioning look to the girl.

“Omo, I really wanted to watch that movie as well, I love musicals but I’ve never got to drag anyone over to the theatre, but now I’ll drag you to every other musicals that get released in the movies.”  Minju said, “I’ll meet you at the theatre at 3pm then? I need to help Yuri clean the classroom because she got detention for coming late to class. I didn’t even do anything wrong, yet I’m being dragged to do this. Didn’t she already forgive me?”

Chaewon could only laugh at Minju’s adorable whines as she carassed her head to calm the very much noisy Minju.

“Okay, I’ll see you later babe.” The words unconsciously slipped from the older’s lips as she slapped her palm to . Minju almost fainted upon hearing those words, feeling ecstatic and she just stared at Chaewon with wide eyes, frozen like a statue.

It was only when Chaewon left the class and when she was violently shook by Yuri that her spirit returned to her. “Why do I even know this clown, I question myself at times.” Yuri thought as she sat down and prepared for her lessons while Minju was still staring into thin air.

“Yah, Kim Minju, get yourself together, you can’t fail any lessons just because of the word babe, you loser.” Her best friend smacked Minju hard on the shoulder, which finally got her back to earth.

“Babe, hehe, babe.” Minju repeated to herself and giggled. Yuri could only roll her eyes as she controlled herself from hitting Minju with her thick English textbook.

The whole day passed with Minju being unattentive and Yuri was sick and tired of it. “You know what, get your whipped out of here, I asked for your help to clean the classroom not rub an already sparkling clean whiteboard over and over again.”

Once Yuri blinked, she found herself in an empty classroom, without any sight of her friend. “Tsk, I didn't even get a goodbye, I’ve got such a whipped friend. What a loser.” She spoke to herself and continued sweeping the floor.

~

Minju’s phone dinged with a text as she read it

“Hi Min! I’m at the theatre waiting for you!”

And of course Minju just had to do it.

“Hi babe, I’ll be there in a minute, see you soon ;).”

She didn’t receive a response so she assumed that Chaewon either passed out due to shock, like she almost did, or the most feasible option, Chaewon just didn’t check her notifications. Minju hoped it was the first choice though.

She finally reached the theatre when she saw Chaewon dressed in an oversized hoodie, which made Minju internally scream because of her cuteness. She then approached her and tapped the girl on the shoulder.

“Oh my gad!” Chaewon shrieked as she turned her neck at lightning speed, she would’ve snapped it if she whirled behind a little faster.

“Hi! I’ve missed you..” Minju beamed at Chaewon as she dove in for a hug, clinging onto her like a koala.

“Oh my, get off me you clingy person, we just saw each other not too long ago.” Chaewon said, her actions however, said otherwise, as her arms found its way to wrap around Minju’s waist.

“OH MY GAD WE’RE GONNA BE LATE FOR THE MOVIE, PLEASE TELL ME THAT YOU BOUGHT THE TICKETS!” Minju suddenly yelled.

“I thought you would’ve gotten them in advance since you asked me out!” Chaewon said as she tilted her head in confusion.

Sadly, Minju had no time to admire her bursting cuteness as she piled some money on Chaewon’s hand and pushed her towards the snacks counter while Minju sprinted towards the ticketing booth. They were lucky that they weren’t late for the movie.

The lights dimmed as the duo settled into their assigned seats. After a tons of commercials that got Minju almost crying from desperation, her soon to be favourite movie began.

A look in somebody's eyes

To light up the skies

To open the world and send it reeling

A voice that says, I'll be here

And you'll be alright

City of stars rang throughout the theatre as Minju turned her head to the left, admiring Chaewon. “Oh, if only I could tell you that I love you.” She thought to herself and sighed internally.

However, once she felt Chaewon placing her hand over hers, she felt every single worry and anxiety fade as she stared at the intertwined fingers and relaxed in her seat, enjoying the rest of the movie.

“That movie was on another level! Everything was so incredible!” Chaewon gushed once they exited the gates of the theatre.

“Not as incredible as you though.” The younger smirked as she received a slap from the other.

“Come on, let’s grab dinner from a nearby place and I’ll walk you home, it’s getting dark.” Minju said as she grabbed Chae’s hand and dragged her to the nearby eatery.

“We’ll get two sets of Bibimbap please, thank you!” Minju said, handing over the menu back to the waiter who was continuously staring at her.

“Ahem, do you mind? Only I can admire this beauty, scram you loser.” Chaewon spat as she threw the waiter a glare, which was efficient as he scampered away from the pair.

“Ohh, my baby is jealous! Don’t be, I’m all yours.” Came the mischievous reply.

“B-baby?!” Chaewon spluttered as she turned beet red, almost tipping her chair in the process.

“Well it’s only fair since you called me babe this morning.” Minju said with a straight face.

And once again, Kim Chaewon malfunctioned like her girlfriend, as she stared at her food that arrived, not moving an inch.

“You better eat up or I’ll leave you here alone.” Minju threatened, which worked as Chaewon picked up the spoon. “Babe.” She added on.

The clanging of the spoon was then heard as it fell to the ground. The sneaky girl just laughed at the reaction of her blushing girlfriend as she continued eating her food.

It was not long after that Chaewon got dragged out of the restaurant, leaving her uneaten bibimbap behind.

“Where should we go for our date tomorrow?”

“Well, I wouldn’t mind visiting the amusement park!” Chaewon gained back her senses as she excitedly looked at Minju.

“Sure! I’ll wait for you after classes, so we can take a bus there together!” The latter responded back with that warm smile of hers.

The walk back felt like it was over within 10 minutes as they basked in each other’s presence.

“I’ll see you tomorrow then baby!” Minju said as she kissed Chae’s cheeks and gave her a bear hug.

“See you!” She responded as she shooed Minju home.

That night, Chaewon felt her breath being taken away as she watched the street lamps cast a bright light upon Minju angelic features, and mayhaps her heart beat a little faster on that special day.

Date 2

“Chaewon! There’s someone here for you!” Her mom’s voice rang throughout the house as Chaewon was about to grab her school bag. She made her way over to the door and gave her mom a quick kiss on the cheek.

“Min-min!” She exclaimed as she clung on to her. Minju chuckled as she ruffled Chaewon’s hair and they made their way to school.

“It’s the disgusting pair of lovebirds back in action.” Yena faked gagged once she saw the couple entering the gates. Yujin just laughed as she rolled her eyes at the older’s antics.

“Oh, go find your Yuri you big loser.” The latter replied, which caused a faint blush to arise on Yena’s cheek as she gasped at her friend.

“And you should find Wonyoung you even bigger loser.” Yena countered back, which caused them both to start bickering. The couple walked past them unbothered as they paid no attention to the fighting duo.

“I’ll see you during recess later, take care!” Chaewon said as she pecked her lover’s cheek and rushed to her respective classroom.

Minju smiled to herself as she made her way into her class, only to find Yuri standing there with crossed arms and a pout.

“You owe me chocolates for not being of help yesterday.” She said as she glared at Minju and made her way back to her seat. On the other hand, Minju was too much in her own world that her brain didn’t register Yuri’s words, hence she merely nodded her head.

Classes passed once again in a flash as Minju dashed to the canteen, excited to meet Chaewon. But to her dismay, the lunch table was crowded with the usual bunch of noisy people, she sighed as she trudged her feet towards their direction.

“Here comes Pepe the frog!” Her best friend pointed out as all heads turned towards the dejected girl.

Chaewon noticed the expression Minju had as she got up from her seat and dragged the latter away to buy some snacks, giving them some alone time.

“Hey, come on, don’t be sulky. We’ll still have a date after this, let’s just have some fun with them for awhile, it won’t hurt right?” Chaewon said as she poked Minju’s puffed up cheeks. At the same time, she grabbed a chocolate bar to cheer up the pouting girl, proving to be effective as her eyes brighten with happiness.

~

“Oh, chocolate, that must be mine! Thanks Minju!” Yuri said as she snatched the bar out of Minju’s hands before she even had the time to sit down.

“I don’t remember saying that I would buy it for you though..” She muttered.

“I bought it for her, hands off it you girlie, ask Yena-Unnie to buy you some.” The chocolate was confiscated from her and returned to Minju, who smiled appreciatively towards her girlfriend. Just then, Yena dashed away to the snack bar without looking back, leaving everyone confused with her actions.

After 5 minutes, the said girl returned. “H-here, I got all the chocolates I could find since I wasn’t sure which one you liked..” The duck lipped girl said, placing the bag on the table.

“Urgh finally, someone made a move, I was getting sick of this whole “I’m not making a move” agenda!” Chaewon exclaimed as she gave her Unnie a thumbs up. Yuri just stared at Yena with heart eyes.

“Oh wells, I’m halfway there to reaching my goal, at least I had the courage to speak to her, unlike someone.” Yena teased.

Yujin immediately yanked Yena’s ponytail as the victim cried out in pain and proceeded to retaliate. “Another daily occurrence” as Minju termed it. They were all a mess, but Minju loved them nonetheless. Although in the end, Yena left the scene with a creamed face while Yujin left with apple juice smeared all over her clothes.

After lunch was another bunch of super boring classes that Minju could grasp within a second. If there was one thing she couldn’t do, it was teaching Jo Yuri. That girl made her doubt her fantastic teaching countless of times. There were times where she even wanted to leave Yuri because of her dumbness, and just let her suffer with her questions, but thought twice for she didn’t want an angry duck on the loose.

“Yuri, for the nth time, flashbulb memories are memories that are remembered because of its vividness.” Minju said exasperatingly.

“But why name it that term? When bulbs fuse, no light is produced, using this analogy, wouldn’t it make more sense that your memories disappear due to the intensity?” The girl questioned back.

Minju wanted to smack her head on the table and pass out than deal with Yuri’s never ending questions. Thank goodness that was the last class of the day, she swore she would’ve gone crazy if they had literature next. The girl asked so many questions to the point that Minju even wondered if she read the assigned book.

As she clung on to her last thread of patience, the bell rang and she ran out of the class as if her life depended on it, leaving poor Yuri alone again.

“Oh my gad, thank God you’re here, let’s go. I do not want to talk to Yuri any longer, or I’ll throw her out of the damn window.” Minju said as she grabbed the older’s hand and sped walked towards the exit.

Chaewon already knew that Yuri was someone who had half a brain cell, similar to Yena, so she didn’t even bother asking Minju why she behaved like that.

The duo reached the bus stop as they waited patiently, both were excited to visit the amusement park to destress. Luck was on their side as the bus arrived within a minute and they made their way to the back of the vehicle and settled down.

Chaewon started to trace circles on Minju’s arm as she willed herself not to fall asleep. “You can rest on my shoulders and close your eyes for awhile, I’ll wake you up when we reach.” Chaewon looked up and saw Minju giving her a reassuring smile as she laid her head on her shoulders and dozed off. Minju then intertwined their fingers as she observed the scenery outside.

~

“Chaewonnie, wake up, we’ve reached.”

Chaewon let on an adorable whine which caused Minju to scream internally, she couldn’t help but squeeze Chaewon’s cheek, which roused the sleepy girl.

“The park isn’t as crowded today, we can take our time with the rides, which do you want to go on first?” Minju asked as they stepped out of the bus.

“Well, we could ride the roller coaster first, then eat, shop and end with a ride on the ferries wheel.” The older responded. She was met with a nod.

“She really knows how to plan a perfect date, such a well prepared girlfriend I have.” Minju gushed to herself.

To their surprise, the famous roller coaster ride was unpopulated, and they managed to get on the ride without having to queue. They fastened the bars, as the ride began its ascent.

Being scared was an understatement, Minju was terrified. She visibly paled as the cart neared the highest point, her right hand was clutching onto Chaewon’s arm as her left gripped the handles with so much force that her knuckles turned white.

The ride plummeted at such speed that she was unable to even let out a scream, leaving hanging open. Beside her, Chaewon was enjoying the ride so much, Minju even thought she heard her laughing.

The ride ended with Minju’s limbs still intact, she wobbled out of the cart, sweating and swearing under her breath. “Have you gone insane? How did you even laugh on such a ride?” She looked at Chaewon with wide eyes as she held onto the railings, afraid that her legs might give way at anytime.

Chaewon just chuckled while she offered Minju her hand and they walked out of the horrific place that Minju hated. The former actually wanted to try another roller coaster ride that she had been waiting for, but upon glancing at her girlfriend’s face, she decided to forfeit it. She could always come with Yena another time.

They went to the gift shop next, where Chaewon immediately spotted this extremely cute tiger plushie, to which she picked u
