P R E C I O U S [ writing contest ]

Hello, guys!

I know I've put this off for so long, but I'm finally here ready to announce the results!

As third runner-up,

summerchild with The Orchestra of Summer

I can, in all honesty, say this was the most unique piece I got, in terms of writng style. The writer's craft was beautifully translated and put forth, I've never read a story with a style like this one, so it was very fresh and a very lovely read, indeed. It was very endearing the way courage was put forth here, I must admit the promt weaved in very well with the story. All in all, a wonderfully delivered piece!

As second runner-up,

candyredhearts with Atonement

This was a very deep piece, with a very strong, quiet love between both individuals. It had a haunting after-effect, the way the author so lucidly described the double suicide at the end. The different relationships intertwined in this piece was heartfelt, there was quite a bit of reading between the lines where character relationships were concerned, but I enjoyed that, it made the characters so real and 4D, it was an extremely engaging journey from start to end. Wonderfully written, as always.

As first runner-up,

Scheherazade with Beautiful

This was, without doubt, utterly gorgeous, incredibly melancholic, extremely sweet, and underneath all, really, really, beautiful. I loved how, the author was able to play with the idea of the cycle of youth and old age. What really shone through here was the simple kind of adoration and love the main character has for his grandmother, as well as the chilling essence of his grandmother reminiscing her youth. Every single bit of the story was so, so beautiful, it left a bittersweet after-tone, and it's one of those stories that you can't help but hold dear to your heart.

And taking the top spot,

Tinywings with 年少無知 (Youthful Ignorance)

This was, in all honesty, the only story that made me cry. It had such emotion and impact on me, I was literally stunned at the end of it. It just gave me this twang when I finished it, it was honestly that amazing. It's a wonderful blend of friendship, lost hopes and cherished memories. I think it affected me so much because, I too, have drifted from friends I thought would never leave. I'm sure many of you have experienced something like that as well; wanting to hold on to a moment so badly, but it slips through your fingers, and friends come and go. This story had a very simple theme, but the messages weaved into it really made me think, it was utterly breathtaking and beautiful, definitely one of my personal favourites now!

Top 10

1) Tinywings - 年少無知 (Youthful Ignorance)

2) Scheherazade - Beautiful

3) candyredhearts - Atonement

4) summerchild - The Orchestra of Summer

5) SAPPHiREDDREAMs - Counting Stars

I enjoyed the delivery here, something I don't see too often. What bugged me a little bit was Kyuhyun's attitude - while his thoughts were certainly childish, the way in which he reacted and associated with the outside world did not really resemble that of an autistic child. But to see him grow and love, that was endearing, I admit.

6) kirakirashahida - Then, Now

A piece I enjoyed throughly. It takes some figuring out the chronological order of things, but once you do, the plot just sweeps you off her feet. The writing style here was simple and engaging, and, like I said, it was such an enjoyable read.

7) thewormcloud (theblackcat1236) - Stockholm Syndrome

I've never read anything like this before, it was engaging, chilling, and quite heart-wrenching, really. The way Amber just disintegrated and went through such a complete reversal was  ... sad. Just, really, sad. The ending was quite a surprise, actually, and characterization here was incredibly strong.

8) forgettheworld - Letting Go

A very simple daughter-mother story, but sometimes it's the simple stories that manage to tug at your heartstrings, and this one did do it for me. The delivery was a little short off smooth, I felt, but it was still a lovely piece, definitely.

9) keena-choding - Hole In Your Face

This story was peppered with the ugly side of a relationship, and really showcased to you how odd human nature can truly be. I wouldn't say it was too unique a piece, but it was still a good story, in all essence.

10) Fake_D - Rooftop Memoir

Again, not the most unique of stories, but stories like this always manage to draw you into a fantasy and have you wonder how nice it would be to love and be loved, and in this case the love between the characters was quite strong indeed.

. . .

So that's it, guys!

I'm so sorry for the delay, but there had been some complications so I had to prolong this a bit longer (okay, very much longer)

I'll be contacting you guys on the prizes, and once again thank you for all the lovely submissions you guys have put in, I had so much fun reading them! I would like to stress that this is by no means a professional writing competition, and the results are based entirely on my own opinion. So if you didn't win, that doesn't mean that you aren't a good writer! One mans meat is another man's poison, after all. Never, ever give up on writing, if it's something that you are truly passionate about.

There will possibly be another contest sprouting up soon, but till then, bye!

Thank you, once again, from the bottom of my heart!

Love,

Jess

I am utterly happy to know you enjoyed the fanfic so much, and that you really felt what I wanted to convey. It was not the most spectacular story, that I am sure of, but that it still touched you, I am very very happy :')
