Foreword

Kim Yuna.

She debuted as the youngest of a girl group, Sparrow, in 1992 and was devastated to hear of the company going under in 2002 shortly after her groups 10 year anniversary. This, sadly, meant that her group had to disband and they were never able to reconnect after moving back to their hometowns. For another 4 years, she would work a common job where she was eternally grateful that fans would come and support her, but she knew she wanted to do more. In the fifth year of her working there, she was surprised to see some foreigners come in and ask if she was the Kim Yuna from Sparrow. Upon her admission, she was more surprised that they were so excited to see her. At that moment, she felt the pull of becoming a celebrity again, but not just any celebrity, a teacher. She began to save more money with a new goal in mind, creating her own entertainment company.

When she got home, she started to write in her idea book, drafting names and goals, what her trainee program would look like, and more. It took over a year of drafts and saving money, but finally, she had it. She named it MVCN, an acronym of Movement Central, which was perfect for what she wanted out of the company. MVCN was to be an influential company with groundbreaking artist concepts and a focus on catchy dance moves and strong vocals. She set out to gain copyrights and trademarks and contacted the friends she had made from her previous career. Before she knew it, she had a little recording studio, producer, choreographer, and every person she needed to start the company. She was only missing one thing, the building. It didn't take long, even though there were many rejections, offers, and the works, but finally after multiple viewings, rejections, and offers, she found her perfect building.

On December 15, 2008, MVCN Entertainment was born and with it, social media pages were created. Yuna herself recreated some of Sparrow's songs and released the EP, which was titled "Red and Blue". Even though she wasn't expecting it, the album ended up charting and a profit was made off of the sales, quite a bit over the break even point. With this momentum going, she decided to post that her company was recruiting after she had a concert at Jamsil Stadium, which sold out in under 30 minutes. When she saw the blue balloons fill the stadium, she knew she was going to spread this energy to a new person and help to fulfill someone's dreams. It didn't take long after her concert to receive over 100 applications to be a trainee.

She picked 20 people to start the trainee program after watching auditions and holding interviews. Meanwhile, a manager that was a close friend of hers was sent to New York for a vacation where he saw another young woman who was performing for a small crowd. She was American, but singing entirely in Korean, was soft spoken, and was the perfect chance to make the international group Yuna had been discussing for the better half of the year. He gave her his card and contacted Yuna to let her know he had found another young girl to be a trainee. She expressed excitement while on the phone with him, excitedly ranting about finding a possible new talent in an upcoming actress that she was watching.

She made a few phone calls.

A month later, she was watching the trainees and one caught her eye. She took the trainee to the side and told her she was going to debut, which thrilled the trainee. It only took another 2 weeks for the American girl to arrive and when she did, she auditioned properly, showing off her talents to the CEO. With a smile, Yuna prepared to announce the trainee and American girl would debut together as a duo. Just then, the actress had returned her call, accepting the offer to join her agency. This surprised her, but soon a smile came to her face as she corrected herself to the duo.

They would become a trio.

And they were going to make MVCN famous.
