Description
There’s this sort of clubhouse we always hung out around. We always pretended it was kind of an escape hatch from reality of some sort. It was pretty crappy when you looked at it. I think it got that way because its interior sort of showcased whatever I was feeling, and I’ve been feeling pretty dull and run down for a while.
It was supposed to look like that though, from the outside at least. It was to ward off any outsiders from coming in and trashing this haven we had created together. The room was underground and you had to come through this sort of messed up subway staircase. We thought it was supposed to be remodeled and tunneled to connect to the other subways but no one ever actually removed the caution tape around it.
Why she would ever have decided to step foot into that alleyway of dust and crap, I don’t know. But she got me to help her clean it up so we could use it whenever we needed the space. It did come in handy whenever she had a dance competition but no studio. And it also made for a perfect private recreation center for whenever it was raining or snowing outside.
We had renovated the inside several times, just to match the new season or give ourselves something to do whenever we had no other activities to take up our time. No doubt it was the most enjoyable pastime I had ever experienced.
Sometimes we would just end up playing around instead of remodeling the room. We’d both end up smeared in paint, newspaper scraps stuck to our clothing, and maybe just kissing on top of the wallpaper we were supposed to put up. There definitely a couple times when there was a more “abstract” concept to the new room. Those were the days.
Since she’s not here to share this haven with me anymore, I never really got the urge to fix it up again. It’s as if I’ll tear down her last memories with the wallpaper and paper cranes hanging from the ceiling. I have yet to tell anyone about this place and the guys are always wondering where I keep escaping off to. It’ll only be a matter of time before they find me here, clutching the last picture we took together.
Foreword
This story is an entry for the J&E. Infinite Story Writing Contest.
Prompt: Nothing's Over the Music Video
I'm the type of writer who goes for more of the fun and enjoyable development, but these prompts all seem to imply they'd like more of an emotional journey to come with them. I'll do my best to integrate that into my writing for this story. Since this is going to be a chaptered fic, I'll be focusing more on this story for the time being since the deadline is coming soon.
I think it's only appropriate to cast Sungyeol as the main for this one. I've never written about him before because his kind of choding humor comes from himself and I don't think I'd be able to recreate it on my own, but I'll give it a try.
Thank you for coming to check out the thread!
I also have an on going fic about SHINee's Jonghyun and a One-shot thread if anyone is interested.
