It's been a few years since she left on a late summer night. She is the next big thing and everything's been going well in her career. Not her first choice - acting - but who sticks with the decisions they make in their teens anyway?

Foreword

“Seulgi, you’re here! There are a few people whom I’d like you to meet, though I gather that you already know some of them, right?” 

“Sajangnim?”

Though, she knows exactly what they’re here for.

Honestly, she has almost forgotten all about it, filed it away as one of those insane, ludicrous suggestions that her boss hatches from time to time. His bouts of whimsy have lessened with time, what with age or with his staff having a better hand on tampering his ideas, but sometimes, he still manages to blindside her.

“Seulgi, well, all of you know Seulgi. And Seulgi, you know them, right? They were just telling me that you would have trained with Irene and Yeri here. Have you met Joy and Wendy before?”

“I, wait. Yes, and no. Can I… step out for a moment?”

Before he replies, she shuts the door in front of her, sinking to the floor.

so yes i'm writing a two(?) part idol/actress au // canon divergence things mainly because i saw pyre tweet about it // i started writing this when the nylon shoot was announced // @ SM where is my subunit... 

 

i also spent an ungodly amount of time agonising over what to name this fic but i gave up... please yeet random fic names at me here or on twitter for future uses thank you very much :")

Chapter 1: Oh my god i really love the setting and this story is beyond amazing so far.
I hope you'll update this author sshi since it's such an amazing plot and I'm intrigued by the story line, can't wait for future chapters!

Chapter 1: this is making me crazy (ಥ益ಥ) oh my god. like idk if i've said this before (and if i did i'm (not) sorry) but i wANNA WRITE LIKE YOU WHEN I GROW UP. your characterization and dialogue are always so *CHEF'S KISS* and the way you built up the tension throughout the chapter, culminating in that "why did you leave"... i'm love so much. like it's all in the details you know. the subtle hints of regret and resentment but also of longing. when seulgi mentioned yeri having grown up and joohyun just (°⍸°) or when joohyun made seulgi stop cracking her knuckles as she accepted the premiere invitation (இ‸இ) or when rv got into the schedule drenched by the rain and seulgi immediately went to soothe joohyun bc she remembers joohyun doesn'tlike rain and cold (ಥдಥ) AND THE "DO YOU NOT THINK OF ME AS YOUR UNNIE ANYMORE" i just. and the flashbacks (specially that one that starts with seulgi reflecting about the book) uuuggghhh ’canon’ fic just hits different doesn't it lmao (i always say this but it feels weird saying canon in the context of rpf. everytime)

also i love this sort of "non-linear" narrative and you're doing it so well here UGH I LOVE SO MUCH BLESS YOU.

ah i missed reading so much and i'm happy this was one of the first things i came to when picking it back up. thank you so much for sharing this with us. as always great job and @SM WHERE THE SUBUNIT NEWS AT

Chapter 1: Or perhaps, it would just reaffirm that she’s 90 percent cuddly bear human, 10 percent “unnieohmygodyouaresoCOOL”. <-- I know I got a sneak peek of this excerpt but this line still has the power to amuse me

One of the film’s sound engineers is a huge Red Velvet fan – he brought it up, in passing, to his bosses. (He is to blame!) <-- omg is the movie Trolls

Just before she disappears behind the door, she murmurs, “If you don’t mind, just Joohyun will be okay. Take care.” <-- idk what it is but this line hit different

If she ever decided to flop about the room like a dying fish, Seulgi might be fooled into thinking that was a deliberately crafted set of move. <-- the mental image of Joohyun flopping around the room like a dying fish is amusing af

Her manager has been teasing her about her recent obsession, but she’s been going through the SM songs on the Superstar app. Why not? It’s fun. <-- omg I haven't played in forever maybe I should again

Joohyun and Joy preferred softer bread. Preferably shokupan, really. Technically, so did Yerim, but loath was she to admit that she didn't appreciate rye as much as the average European in her imagination. <-- is this your bread obsession showing or do RV actually like bread

“Yeah, you. Are there other Seulgis in the room?" “Dunno. We can ask. Okay. That was lame.” <-- Seulgi hitting us with the dad jokes hahaha I approve

Bought the tracks and saved them to all her phones. <-- Seulgi you babo hahaha, but also how many phones does she have?? is this why she can toss her phone aside without any care for it hahaha

Joohyun responds by grabbing Seulgi’s hands. “Stop cracking your knuckles. We’ll be glad to.” <-- SIGHS am I an idiot for squealing over them actually touching HAHA

(Think: an awkwardly gangly Seulgi ambling up to Joohyun, a broad smile and somewhat red cheeks). <-- this is the cutest mental image

sighs the Pining in this fic is like ;; I hope we get some resolution in the next chapter haha, I especially want to know if Joohyun knows about Seulgi's feelings...though I suspect she does. Thank you for this Less Morose fic, can't wait for more hehe :)))))
