Sometime during the two peaceful centuries of Korean isolation under the Joseon rule, Do Kyungsoo is a recognised artist living in the mountains, choosing solitude and art over the promising future of a teacher in the nearby town as his father wished. He enjoys his secluded life, coming down to the town only to sell his art and buy necessities at the market. His quiet life comes to an end when he once meets his business-driven friend Byun Baekhyun, who pushes a "helper for the house" on him. Now forced to live with the young man, Kyungsoo has to learn how to deal with people again; and slowly starts realising that sharing his life with someone else might not be so bad.
