Foreword

The alarm started to sound. Sana’s eyes barely making it to open. The sky still dark, it was way too early in the morning like always. Her body trying to move in an attempt to get off the bed but failing, it felt heavy, heavy as a thousand rocks but managed to get up eventually before the alarm sounded again. Her hair messy and her eyes way too tired to be considered actually open as she walked lazily to the bathroom.

She got into the shower and flinched at the suddenly cold water, relaxing when her body got used to it. She stood there feeling how the cold soothed her skin before actually cleaning herself. After the shower she prepared a very simple breakfast, just some toasts with strawberry jelly and a glass of milk. Someone would thought with the kind of money she gained at work and the look of her apartment she would have a better or actually “fancy” breakfast. She started getting ready for real when the sun was just barely coming out and leaving her apartment to go to work just when it set.

When she got to the bulding where she worked she took the elevator, there was barely people. It was way too early for everyone to arrive yet. Her thoughts keeping her on zombie mode until she heard heels running quickly towards her, she saw a tall woman with short hair, very nice deep green suit. Sana quickly stopped the door of the elevator so she could get in. –Thank you- the tall new woman said trying to catch her breath. A little bit of sweat visible on her cheeks with a hint of a blush. –No problem-. Sana said suddenly with the biggest smile in the world, leaving the shocked the woman on her side.

The ride was a bit silent for a few seconds, and it was quite long since it was almost the last floor of the building. After all a magazine that famous, meant it had lots of people working, which meant there were a lot of floors and departments to fill.

-I’m Yoo Jeonyeon-. The woman said extending friendly her hand. Sana raised an eyebrow and then smiled at her again. –Oh! Our new CEO! Nice to meet you and welcome to your new home- Sana said in a very calming voice, something that apparently the new boss needed to calm her nerves of her first day. –Thanks- Jeonyeon exhaled with relief that at least one of her employees seemed nice and not threatened by her. –So what are you here so early? Just the cleaning team and the receptionist are here at this hour as far as I know-. Jeongyeon tried to do little bit of small talk. –I’m used to it, also I have a lot of work to do-. –Delayed articles?-. Jeongyeon didn’t mean to be nosy, she just was truly curious. –No, I never delay or postpone my works. I just have a lot to do always-. Jeongyeon was now really curious about this woman. She just said that, but not in an “I’m tired of it” way. She just… mentioned it, like it was no big deal.

The bell of the elevator finally sounded, letting them know that they already arrived to their floor. Jeongyeon letting Sana go out first and stopping when she saw how different from the other floors this one was. Sana noticed the fear on her eyes, so she just decided to help. –They didn’t give you the upper tour, did they? - Sana asked sweetly and Jeongyeon shook her head, a blush now of embarrassment on her cheeks. –I really don’t have the time actually to show you around the maze, but that big kind of house on your left? That’s your office boss-. Jeonyeon’s mouth opening wide open. –All of that!?-, -Yeap, and my work place is far away going down the hallway on the right, if you need any help my number on the phone office is number 12-. Sana was quickly on her way to work when Jeongyeon stopped her with a question. –Why did you call this floor “the maze”?-. Sana smiled before answering, -Because everyone new always get lost, plus it’s huge. Good luck on your first day, boss! - Sana said while giggling, disappearing when she took a turn on the hallway. Jeongyeon smiled and felt her shoulders relax after that fact and the charming smile. “What a curious girl”- she thought.

The hours passed and it was already lunch time, but unfortunately for Jeongyeon it only meant to eat a crappy dry sandwich that she bought on a convenience store near the building while memorizing all the new employees she got to take care of and to organize and say the final says for the next cover of the magazine. Meanwhile her new assistant was standing there by the door without her noticing. –Ahem…- it was enough for Jeongyeon to look up of her desk with cheeks full of food making her assistant suppress a laugh. –Oh, sorry! I was really focused right now-. –Don’t worry, I was just wondering if you needed help with something else boss-. –Mmm, no, no, but thanks, I know you got something personal right now, you can go without problem um…-, - Tzuyu, Chou Tzuyu-, -Yeah! That! I’m so sorry, I promise I will get your name right!-. –Don’t worry, Miss Yoo-. Tzuyu said with a smile on her face and ready to leave. –Wait! I have a question! What can you tell me about… Miss Minatozaki Sana? - Jeongyeon said while reading her file. Tzuyu gulping little. –Um… on the professional way or…?-. –No, I can see she is the best here, like, with people, how is she? Is she nice?-.

Tzuyu started avoiding Jeongyeon gaze for the first time in the last hours making Jeongyeon suspicious. –Tzuyu… what are you hiding? - Tzuyu sighed and eventually got closer to the desk. –She is… the… player, of the building-. Jeonyeon eyes went wide. She just met the girl in the morning and she seemed like a sweet girl, that couldn’t be right. –Player? Like in…?-, -Like in she… has been “involved” with everyone…- Tzuyu said with bright cheeks, her fingers twitching. –Oh… does that includes you? - The question making Tzuyu’s face turn completely red as she nodded in embarrassment. Jeongyeon sighed in disappointment. She couldn’t believe someone that got so early to work and worked so hard could be the actual -girl of the building, not only the floor, the whole ing building.

Tzuyu noticed how her boss expression changed to a somewhat sad face so she decided to say more and not only the surface. –Well, yeah, she is like that… ually, but she is also a very sweet person, she always helps everyone even when she is swimming with work, and she is the only one that remembers everyone’s birthday, even the cleaning team. She is also a very cheerful person, even when you want to get mad at her for that, you can’t, no one really can’t, and that includes me. We are not friends exactly but still manages to know when I don’t feel quite well. So yeah, just, get to know her, I’m doing that and she has the potential to be a good friend is you ask me-.

Jeongyeon snorted a little at her choice of words. –Potential?-, -Yeah, I tend to analyze a lot, you’ll get used to it boss-. Jeongyeon smiled at her thanked. –Also you might really want to befriend her, she is kind of everywhere since she work so hard, after all she earned the unofficial place of right hand of the boss-. Jeongyeon mouth went a little open and gulped. –Thanks, that’s good to know… You can go now, thank you-. Tzuyu nodded and went away. Leaving a very confused Jeongyeon on her seat.

It was late for office hours, everyone already left except Jeongyeon who was still going crazy with her new work. She sighed and decided to splash some water on her face to wake up before finishing and going home. Only on her to the bathroom finding an office still with the lights on, she walked a bit further to see behind the piles of work a very exhausted looking Sana. Her eyes almost closed while still writing god knows what on her work. Jeongyeon doubt it for a few seconds but decided to knock on the glass walls of her office, making her look around quickly and smile as big as in the morning. Jeongyeon then entered looking at the other desk with another huge pile of work, only it has a sign that said finished work. Sana didn’t attempt to move, she only moved a pile of papers and magazines to the side so she could see her face.

-Hey, aren’t you going home?-. Jeongyeon asked a bit worried now that she got closer to her. She seemed a bit paler that in the morning when they met, she even seemed dizzy, and her eyes looked puffed and a bit red like if she has been crying. –Oh… um… not yet, I still have to correct some designs for the magazine and sign some papers for the next and apparently have to remind the whole floor that blue navy was already done 3 months ago and now we need a very bright yellow and … anyway… not yet-. She sighed at the end but still gave her the biggest smile she could give. Jeongyeon could tell something wasn’t right and it wasn’t the season’s colors.

-Give me those, I’ll do it-, Jeongyeon said softly, and Sana gave her a panicked look. –B-but I haven’t finished. I… Did I do something wrong?-. –What? No, I just want to help you a bit, after all you are doing thing I should be doing, let me help you-. Sana blinked her eyes in disbelief but at the end of some confusing seconds she nodded and handed her some of the papers. –Now go home, Sana. You seem tired-. Sana nodded and rubbed her eyes in a very little kid way. Jeongyeon’s heart melting at the sight of the beautiful woman.

Sana got up of her chair and walked barely five steps away from her desk before falling hard on the ground unconscious. Jeongyeon throwing the papers away and holding her head gently on her trembling hands. –SANA! SANA WAKE UP! - She screamed in fear while getting not response from the younger girl. –HELP! SOMEBODY HELP ME!-.
