Description

At age 32, Joohyun is ~~still waiting for a promotion, five years and counting~~ at the height of her career, ~~in the process of getting over her last break-up with a man her parents wanted her to marry~~ satisfied with the state of her love life, and ~~wondering if this is all life really has to offer~~ living each day to its fullest. That is, until her best friend's younger brother comes back from studying abroad, and shows her that there might be more to finding happiness than she'd originally thought.

A/N: Ok, originally planned to write a Vrene fic but then I saw this video ??? and this ??? and Johnny posted an IG story about how Irene bought him lunch during Kick It promotions and now I have Irene x Johnny tunnel vision, sorry @ all other Irene ships oop. Also cute height difference! Thank you for coming to my crackship TED Talk!!1! I'm just going through a NCTVelvet moment!!!

But in all seriousness, this is not intended to just be a story about a romantic relationship -- I'm planning on delving into subjects such as ism in the workplace, societal (double) standards for women, and how does someone navigate that entire minefield and find happiness? But it won't be super bleak and serious all the time (I think...) I'm also thinking this will be a shorter fic (at most 10 chapters) but with longer chapters.

I hope you will stick around for this story <3 :)

And yes I'm glad you mentioned feminism in this story. Super unique and rare.

i only logged in to see if i could revive one of my many abandoned wips but then i saw this?? LOVE irene and ur writing and i'm very intrigued by johnny so i'm excited for this! i'm interested in how ur going to tackle the issues u mention, especially since things like the pressure to get married by a certain age and ism are still so prevalent in asian societies but aren't as talked about in fics!

i don't rly log on that regularly anymore but just wanted u to know that when i do, i'll definitely be checking back for this story ♡ good luck with the contest! i know you'll do well :)
