The Excited Heart

 

When you have a much awaited trip early morning next day, would you be able to have a sound sleep? No right? It was the same for Elisha. She was excited too that she didn’t even concentrate on her work thinking about the trip. Usually Friday vibes has zero effects on Elisha, that unlike others she used to work from early morning shift extending till night attending the weekend meetings and conferences. But today was different ! The whole day she kept her brain engaged planning the trip and its preparations. You might be thinking where is she traveling to be so excited. Elisha was preparing to visit the ‘City of Love’ Paris and above all it was the Valentines week. What could have added more to her excitement visiting the beautiful city of love during the Valentines week. It was her first trip with friends since she got settled in Milan,Italy. She kept checking her watch to see if its already 4 pm.

“3 pm ? Are you serious? I guess my watcch is wrong” Elisha said to herself. She turned right and asked. “Jessica whats the time now? Is it really 3?”

“Girl its just 3. You have an hour left to leave. I guess you are so excited about our trip tomorrow. I was too, but now that idiot Manager has given me hell lot of work to be completed by this Tuesday. Am not sure how to complete it..Hope it doesn’t spoil my trip” Jessica replied. They were colleagues and she was one among her friends travelling with Elisha tomorrow. Elisha opened Skype in her system and texted Catherine her another friend on second floor working for a different project.

Elisha : “Hey Cathy !

Cathy : “ Hey girl wassup? “

Elisha : “Nothing much just as usual stuff, hell lot of works and meetings and what about you?”

Cathy: “Same here, i am craving for a cappuccino. Do you wanna grab one?”

Elisha : “Good idea. I don’t wanna work anymore today better I grab a cappucino and leave for the day.Lets meet at the cafeteria in 5 mins. How about it?”

Cathy : “Deal”

Elisha locked her system and took her wallet. “Jes am gonna get a cappuccino. How about you ? Do you wanna tag along? Cathy will be down in 5 minutes”

“Bravo Eli I was thinking of running away from my system to cool off, lets go. But what about the guys? Should we call them?” Jessica asked.

“No, Cathy will get them on her way to Cafeteria. She’s the best to nag them else they will keep us waiting if we ask them.Lets start now” Elisha replied.They  got up from their seats and started walking to the lift.

 

Fridays evenings used to be the best to grab a cup of coffee, because you need not stand for an hour on the lengthy queue to grab your coffee and snacks. People leave office early as they might have weekend trips. By the time they reached cafeteris Cathy was there in the counter along with Matt and Joel. Well this is the crazy bunch of friends Elisha belongs to. They belong to different age groups. Matt was the youngest of all but the craziest. Whereas Joel was the eldest and is married. Cathy and Jes belong to same age group and they were colleagues from long back whereas Elisha was the second youngest in the group.

“Girls, listen a cappuccino for Eli and an Americano for Jes am I right?” Cathy asked for confirmation before she made the order. “Exactly there you go Cathy” replied Jes.

Cathy turned to the counter and confirmed “ ok so 3 Cappuccino, 1 Americano piccolo and 1 Caffe Macchiato please”.

They took the order and found a place near the window.Looking outside Elisha said “It seems to be sunny today hope the next two days are the same”.

“Uhh yes girls I was about to say do take your Jackets and umbrella” Joel answered

“UMBRELLA ??? “ 3 voices screamed in a perfect sync

“Oh wait I didn’t knew you guys could scream so perfectly in uniformity” Matt said sarcastically while smiling.

“I agree to that “ Joel continued “But what was that scream for? There’s a forecast that it might rain day after tomorrow so you should carry your rain coats or the umbrella if you don’t wanna get drenched”

“Uhh noooo, we will have to carry the Winter coat and now the umbrella too. And on top of that we have a very minimum baggage allowance too..” Jes replied disappointed

“Guys we are just going for a 2 day trip and whats the big deal in carrying an umbrella with you. Its not that much of an addition to the luggage” Matt as usual good in irritating the girls passed on the comment.

“Dude we are girls , and girls usually has more stuff to pack than you idiots who go around with one Jeans and 2 tees “ Jes banged back.

“Who said its just a jeans , we do carry sufficient no of dresses but not extra like you girls” Matt was not ready to give up..

As the argument was progressing Elisha checked the time and interupted the conversation. “Guys its 4 already . Am leaving for the day I need to stop by some where before I reach the apartment”

“you are leaving already? Uhh no I wanna come too, but I have an important release to be performed after an hour. Its fine I’ll call you once I reach my room” Cathy replied

“Ok so girls just to update we have an early flight to catch tomorrow, you know right its 5:30 am.So go home as soon as possible pack and sleep early. We will come around 3 am and will pick you guys” Joel said.

“3 am? “ Jes started whinning again.

“See Jes it takes 45 mins to the airport and we need to be there by minimum 4:30. So the bus to airport is at 3:30. You have no other options left if you wanna go to Paris” Joel explained.

Usually its him who always coordinate the trips. Maybe because he is a Manager he has a good skill in planning and organising things well. Matt is good in assisting Joel where as the girls have absolutely no knowledge in such things. Its their relaxation time. They just follow the plan and enjoy the trip.

They all started towards their work and Elisha packed her bag and left for the day first.

Elisha stopped by few stores to get things for the trip and then headed back to her room. She took a shower and started to pack her bag for tomorrow. She was so excited that she got confused what to pack and what not to. Suddenly her phone started ringing.

It was her mom.

Elisha picked up the call “Hi Mom how was your day?’

Mom : “It was good Eli and how about you?”

Elisha : “Nothing much Mom as usual and I just left office a bit early as I had some shopping “

Mom : “ Oh yeah its tomorrow right you guys are travelling. I totally forgot . Are you done with the packing?”

Elisha : “No Mom just took a shower and was about to start packing. We have an early morning flight to catch so we need to start pretty early tomorrow”

Mom : “ Oh is it? Then you better hang up and complete the packing. Sleep early so that you don’t feel tired while travelling.”

Elisha : “Sure Mom, where’s dad is he still in Office? Convey my regards to him”

Mom : “Yeah guess he’s on the way, and don’t forget take your coat incase if its cold don’t get sick”

Elisha : “Sure mom don’t worry. Sleep well goodnight”

Mom: “You too my sweet lil girl and have a safe journey. Let me know once you reach there.Bye”

By the time Elisha finished packing Cathy & Jes reached her room.They went out for dinner and came back. She helped Cathy & Jes to pack their stuff and decided to go to bed.

“Lets sleep here tonight” Jes suggested “So that we will all wake up together when the alarm rings. We can wake each others up if anyone didn’t.”

The others nodded and they switched off the lights and went to bed.

It was a deep silence for a few minutes and the Jes started talking “Girls.. you know what?  its Valentines week”

“Oh yeah god I really forgot about it… But whats the big deal we don’t have a valentine” Cathy started giggling saying this

But suddenly Jes asked ”Eli… I’ve never asked you..Do you have a boy friend? “

“Me? Elisha asked

“Yeah you, who else.. I’ve never heard you talk about it” Jes continued “Don’t you have even a crush on anyone?”

“No I don’t “ Elisha replied

“What ? Seriously?? How come that you don’t even have a crush on anyone Eli I have a huge list which is big enough” Cathy replied in surprise. The girls started laughing hearing Cathy’s response.

Both Cathy & Jes turned towards Eli who was in middle and started tickling her while she pretend to be sleepy. They were very curious to know about Eli’s love life if she had one.

“Girls its already 1 am do you wanna stay awake and travel with a zombie eye tomorrow? “ Elisha tried to change the topic. “If not you better go to sleep we just have 1.5 hr left” Elisha closed her eyes pretending to be sleepy after saying this. The girls didn’t have any other option other than to sleep now. Soon after 5 minutes Elisha heard Cathy snoring and Jes having a sound sleep. But for some unknown reason she couldn’t sleep.

She kept her eyes opened. The darkness of the room was reduced by the bedlamps. Elisha kept thinking about what Jes asked her. Her love life was something that none of her friends knew. Elisha didn’t had any bofriends in office nor they haven’t seen anyone calling her often like the boyfriends do. She was a very social person and a happy smiling girl who had a good relation with all.

But it was just Elisha who knew that there was someone whom she has locked deep inside her.It started of with a fangirling moment but ended up in love gradually without her realisation. She had been a hardcore fan of her favourite band SHINee since debut. She loved every one in the band but this one guy caught her attention somehow.Each and everything about him caught her attention.  A lot of changes happened to her since 2008. A girl who never does fangirling had been a hardcore fan of the 5 oppas. But none other than her close shawol friends knew how crazy happy shawol Elisha was. Though she loved all members this particular guy took all her attention often.Her eyes searched for him first everytime she saw them. Gradually she wanted to know more about him. Knowing more about him made her like him more and more. A smile on his face would make her happy, just a glance of him will make her happy. Even now she doesn’t know what exactly is her feelings.. Is it a fan girl moment, a crush or is it a real love… But all she knew is that its him Choi Minho who stole her heart, though its kept locked deep inside without letting anyone know about it. Just thinking all these made her heart flutter and excited that she didn’t knew its already 2:30 am and suddenly the alarm started  to ring knocking her out from her thoughts.
