Happy with You

More Than Friends

Minho's eyelids parted with the brightness of the morning sun that beamed in through his large bedroom window. He felt his senses come back to him one by one, feeling and seeing Taemin beside him.

Taemin was wrapped in his arms, and they were subtly spooning under the covers. Even though normally, Minho would blush and pull away, he felt strangely comfortable in this position. It felt so natural, even though it really wasn't at all. But nevertheless, Minho seized the moment, and buried his face near Taemin's sweet-smelling hair. To Minho's surprise, Taemin squirmed, before he turned to face Minho and parted his jaws, yawning right in his face. Minho scrunched his nose up.

"Blech." Minho stuck out his tongue.

"What?" Taemin asked, eyes widened by Minho's odd expression.

"Morning breath."

Taemin clamped his jaws shut, covering his mouth with a hand as he apologized timidly. "S-sorry."

"It's okay."

And then there was silence. It wasn't absolute silence though, Minho soon discovered. It allowed him to just stop and listen. The birds were singing outside, a tune that Minho usually found obnoxious, but today, couldn't help but enjoy. He just felt so inexplicably happy and energetic, not a single problem on his mind. He felt free.

His eyes travelled to the awoken figure beside him, who squirmed and wiggled, stretching under the blankets. 'Is it because of you?' Minho wondered as he watched Taemin.

Silly, but plausible, maybe the reason Minho was so happy, was simply because Taemin was right there beside him.

Taemin's chocolate eyes began travelling to the side, before meeting Minho's. Taemin simply smiled, before turning his head back to the ceiling.

"So, what do you think we should do today, hyung?" Taemin asked quietly.

"We could call up the others.." Minho suggested. "We could all go to that café down the street. I hear they have good cake."

"Cake for breakfast?" Taemin was ecstatic at the mere thought. "I'm sold. Let's get up."

The duo clambered out of the bed one by one. Minho was a bit shocked to see Taemin's 'outfit' from last night once again. Paired with his y bed hair, Minho had found a new determination to get Taemin fully clothed as soon as possible.

"What am I gonna wea-"

"Sweater, pants." Minho decided for him, plucking Taemin's favourite sweater from the ground as well as a pair of pants he'd forgotten there in the past. "You can change in the bathroom."

Taemin stared the the clothes as Minho piled them into his open arms, somewhat surprised by his quickness. Minho looked at Taemin. Then at the clothes. Then Taemin. Back to the clothes.

"Okay?"

"Neh!" Taemin squeaked as he came out of his daze, heading to the bathroom to change.

Taemin, having had left to change, left Minho alone in the room. Minho dressed quickly in a random blue tee shirt he found on the ground and black jeans. By that time, Taemin had returned.

"All done hyung." Taemin said, much to Minho's relief, fully clothed.

"Alri-" Minho began, only to be cut off as his phone began to ring obnoxiously. He didn't much feel like answering it, so he ignored it at first.

"Hyung, your phone is ringing." Exclaimed Taemin. Well, now he had no choice but to answer it. Minho sighed as he pulled out his phone and pushed the 'talk' button.

"Hello, Choi Minho speaking."

"Yoooooo~" A long string of jibberish followed the person's voice. It didn't take long for Minho to figure out who it was.

" Key, are you drunk?" Minho raised an eyebrow.

"No I'm-" The voice was cut off, followed by some white noise and rustling. Another person spoke this time.

" Sorry, Key's messing with my phone." Jonghyun's voice sighed. "I have no idea why he's being so hyper."

"Um...That's okay." A confused Minho responded. "So I was wondering if you guys wanted to come to the café for breakfast?..."

"Sure! That sounds grea...." There was some whispering from the other line, Jonghyun never finishing his sentence.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"A-actually, I'm a little tied up. But the five of us go to the café all the time. Why don't you go with Taemin You know. By yourselves. Together."

Minho, frustrated by all the background noise and Jonghyun's weird hesitating, simply grunted something that sounded like a 'sure' before hanging up.

"Change of plans." Minho announced. "Looks like it's just gonna be you and me."

"What?" Taemin looked disappointed. "Why?"

"I don't know. They said they were tied up. By what, I'm not sure." Minho looked down at Taemin's sad expression. "How come? Do you not want to go with me?"

Taemin looked embarrassed. "O-of course I do hyung. It's just that we always hang out with the others on the weekends. I don't get why they're so busy now."

"I must admit, it is suspicious." Minho realized. "But whatever. We'll just let them be. Ready to go?"

"Yup!"

With that, Taemin and Minho made their way downstairs, where they put on their shoes and walked out the door, beginning their journey down the sidewalk.

"It's really nice out." Taemin observed. Minho looked up at the sky. White fluffy clouds drifted across the deep blue sky, as warm winds ruffled his hair. The sun shined brightly, and Minho could see that spring was slowly turning into summer, little by little.

"It is." Minho agreed as he listened to the birds chirp. Their feet thudded against the pavement as they walked in synch like a two person marching band. When Minho looked over at Taemin, he found Taemin looking at the ground, making quite the effort to match Minho's steps perfectly. Minho smiled and pretended not to notice as they continued to walk. Taemin sighed happily.

"It feels like it's been a long time since the two of us went out somewhere together." Murmured Taemin.

"You're right." Minho said. "I missed doing things like this. I like spending time with you."

"I like spending time with you too hyung." Taemin grinned as he looked up at Minho. Minho felt his heart beat faster as he looked back up at the sky.

'If only you knew how much you mean to me.'

Taemin and Minho arrived at the café moments later. Minho smiled at Taemin, quietly saying "we're here" before pushing through the glassy doors.

The bell above the door jingled as Minho and Taemin made their way inside. "It smells nice, hyung." Taemin observed. Minho sniffed the air. It smelled just like a café should. Coffee beans and pastries. It made Minho's mouth water. Suddenly a perky waitress came to greet them. She had short blonde hair, Minho almost couldn't tell if she was a girl or not, until he spotted her name-tag. Amber was a girl's name. An American one, but a girl's name nonetheless.

"Hello." She greeted.

"Hi." Minho looked over at Taemin. "Table for two please."

"Right this way." Minho and Taemin followed as the waitress led them to a small table beside a window, two seats on either side. As they sat down, the waitress laid down two menus in front of them.

"I'll be back to take your order in a bit." The waitress bowed slightly before scurrying off, leaving Minho and Taemin alone once more.

Taemin unfolded his menu, his lips as his eyes scanned all the choices.

"Hyung, everything looks so good!" Taemin exclaimed. "What are you getting?"

Minho smiled at Taemin's adorableness, "I don't know. I'm not that hungry, I might just have a coffee."

"Are you sure? You need to eat too, hyung."

"I'll be fine."

Taemin looked at Minho for a while, but Minho's gaze was unwavering.

"You know I'm going to make you eat something, hyung. You need to stay big and strong for your soccer games."

"Well what if I don't play soccer? Then can I miss a meal?" Minho laughed.

"No." Taemin murmured almost inaudibly. "I'd still be worried about you hyung...You know if anything ever happened to you..."

Minho watched Taemin as the smaller boy looked at the floor, a blush spreading over Taemin's cheeks as he fidgeted. How could anyone be so adorable?

"Taemin..." Minho reached a hand across the table and grabbed Taemin's hand. Half by impulse and half by instinct, Taemin laced their fingers together. Taemin's heart warmed. He had always loved how his small hand fit so perfectly in Minho's big one.

"You know I'll always be here for you, right?"

"I know hyung." Taemin smiled sweetly. "That's what friends are for."

Butterflies rose in Minho's stomach as Taemin squeezed his hand, but he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that he'd been called that stupid terrible word yet again. Would Taemin ever see him as more than just a friend?

"No, Taemin." Minho objected gently. "This isn't how I act towards my friends."

Taemin looked crestfallen. His hand limped and slipped away and into his lap. "What do you mean hyung?"

"I'm saying I act differently towards you because you're...You're just special to me. Different." Minho half-sighed. This would've been the perfect time to confess, but it was too late now. The damage had been done.

"...Oh." Taemin said quietly, playing with his own hands under the table. Minho felt guilty, but before he could say anything, the waitress was back.

"Alright, so what can I get you two?"

"I'll have a coffee." Minho decided, nodding towards Taemin. The waitress snatched a pen out from behind her ear and scribbled it down in her tiny notebook.

"One...Coffee. And you, miss?" Minho nearly choked on his saliva. 'Miss?!'

"Um.." Taemin had started to turn red, but he didn't say a thing. "I-I'll have a slice of banana cream pie and a croissant."

"Gotcha." The waitress scribbled down some writing on her notepad again and walked away, Minho raising an eyebrow. Pie and a crossant? Taemin was a heavy eater, yes, but he knew how big the portions were here. Not even Taemin ate that much at breakfast time.

"That's a lot of food for you." Minho pointed out. "You sure you can eat it all?"

"I ordered the croissant for you, you pabo." Taemin giggled.

"Taemin, I told you I wasn't hungry!" Minho scolded.

Taemin lowered his gaze to the ground, looking like a sad child that had just been yelled at. "..Sorry hyung...I was just looking out for you. I'll pay for it if you want."

Minho resisted the urge to punch himself in the face. What was with him today that was turning him into such a jerk? He never snapped at Taemin, much less said anything to ever make him sad. The guilt rising up in the pit of his stomach was attacking his conscience like a pack of hungry dogs attacking a steak.

"No. I'm sorry Taemin. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that."

Taemin lifted his head at the apology, but he still seemed a little taken aback. The rest of the breakfast was silent, even as the waitress returned and they began to eat. Taemin prepared to give the croissant back to the waitress, but Minho gave him a slight smile and took it instead, taking a bite. His not hungry stomach received each bite grudgingly, but Minho ate it all, just for Taemin. When the breakfast was done and paid for (by Minho, he'd insisted), Taemin flicked open his phone and gasped.

"Oh, hyung! Key says I have to go to his house alone right away. Do you think you'll be okay getting back home by yourself?"

Minho, saddened by the fact their day together had been cut so short, nodded. "Of course. Will you be okay getting to Key's?"

"I'll be fine." Taemin assured him, shrugging on his jacket, holding his arms out for their regular goodbye hug. Minho walked up and embraced Taemin, chin resting on his shoulder.

"Take care." Taemin said quietly, patting Minho's back. "I love you."

"I love you too." Minho responded on impulse. Then he realized what he'd just said. He felt Taemin tense in his arms, probably blushing as he pulled away and mumbled awkwardly.

"Y-yeah." Taemin stuttered. "See you around!" Minho watched as Taemin stumbled away, nearly tripping on his own feet as he left the restaurant. As soon as he was gone, Minho's heart fluttered and he felt he had to sit down for a minute.

' I love you?! '

A/N

Well this is actually my second time posting this, because this chapter happened to get deleted in the great AFF crash of 2012.

Yes. I'm going to call it that. Slap that on a timeline, because it was probably one of the most devastating things to ever happen to kpop fans around the world. I'm so, so sorry for all the stories that have been lost, and hopefully they will be restored.

But as I've mentioned earlier, I save all my stuff on my laptop anyway, so we're good here.

I sure am reliable. And by reliable, I mean paranoid.

I save all my things in about 6543456 different places.

But yeah. You could delete my whole story if you wanted to and I'd be all "I ain't even mad." Come at me, AFF. Come at me.

But on a happier note, most of AFF was saved, and we're supposed to be getting some new features soon so that's nice. Also I wrote a lot while AFF was down. Like, a lot. Like a book worth of text. So love me, because my updates should be more regular now.

Bye all! Comments are love! And for those of you that lost things, stay strong!
