"I found you, my love, after years of searching"

2019 a year in which the world had evolved a bit too quickly.

2019 a year in which the world was slowly dying.

2019 a year in which Nayeon was, too, dying.

2019 a year she had finally found her soulmate.

Foreword

Nayeon walked around the cemetery, the November wind blew on her long black dress. She didn't like visiting the cemetery, she found it spooky. However, she had to pay her respects to her husband who had recently passed away.

The girl loved him, not romantically, but more as a father figure. You see, her own father didn't do his job correctly and only hurt her.

It was the first time she had visited him after the funeral, her hands were shaking. It felt weird knowing she was all alone now, she was used to having him around. Although, she had her kids and grandchildren, Nayeon felt weird. As if her heart was empty, or maybe, that it was beating relentlessly all these years without finding peace.

"Hey," she said and eyed the gravestone. She crouched and placed a single rose on whilst sighing.

Nayeon didn't really like technology, it had evolved pretty quickly and it was terrifying. In the span of forty-five years everything had changed dramatically and it soon felt like the world would give in, that it would die. It was okay though, the woman knew she wouldn't live for a lot more too.

"I think I told you not to mess around with those cables," Nayeon talked "We're here because of a ridiculous game." she scoffed.

Her husband died of electrocution when trying to fix the television in their home. It didn't takw much for a man in his seventies to pass away because of that. He was weak and had started not liking his life, just the typical feelings the elderly tend to have.

Nayeon raised a brow as the first rain drops started falling. She didn't want to leave just yet, but she knew the rain would get really bad in a while.

She stood up and smiled at the picture of her hushand, it was taken on the night of their wedding. Nayeon hated that night, she badly wanted to escape and run away, be free like her friend would always say she had to be.

"Goodbye." Nayeon murmured and took off. She hadn't brought an umbrella with her, it was only the third of November, why would she?

Walking slowly, she decided to take another route to find the exit. She had been needing some extra time alone for a long now since her children never left her alone anymore.

Nayeon felt the smile on her face grow bigger when she saw familiar names on the gravestones. At least they were all happy and together, she thought. None of her friends were alive anymore. However, she didn't grieve, she was truly happy that they were all in a better place now.

The woman furrowed her eyebrows as she walked past graves she had never seen before. She was supposed to turn left but didn't and the cemetery was really, really big. Nayeon hadn't been in this side of the lot before, it was the side were the graves looked sad and miserable. The ones that no one took care of, the ones that people, usually from not so wealthy backgrounds, were buried in.

She scanned each and every name on the gravestones until her legs halted to a stop. The rain got a little stronger and she swore it must've been the raindrops that were blurring her vision, making her unable to see clearly because, she definitely did not see the name she thought she did.

Kneeling down, with her black dress making contact with the damp soil, Nayeon grazed her fingers on top of the half faded letters on the gravestone. She felt her heart drop to her stomach and her brain slowly shutting down.

'Here lies Yoo Jeongyeon, a good daughter and friend' it wrote and Nayeon pushed herself up. 'Born 1957 Died 1975'

It must've been that she was getting old and that her eyesight was going bad. It must've been her brain that's been messing with her. Nayeon didn't want to believe anything she saw, she wanted to run off and leave this behind. It was all a trick her mind was setting up, she was going crazy.

And as much as she wanted to leave, she couldn't. Her knees buckled again and she fell on the soil, her hands once again grazing the tombstone. She felt like crying, but tears didn't come out. She felt like screaming loudly, but her voice was gone.

"So, here you are." Nayeon mumbled. The relentless beating of her heart got unbearable. It was so intense, she wanted to rip open her chest and take her heart out and break it. Break it into million, tiny pieces that she would later take and throw into the river, into the lake, or even the deep blue of the ocean.

The rain got dangerously hard and the first thunders started falling. Nayeon, in regular surcumstances, would've screamed and cried in fear. However, she didn't. She let herself break down while looking at her friend's photograph. Nayeon thought she looked amazing and wondered how beautiful she must've been if she was still alive.

The first tears started to run down her cheeks. It has been a while since she last cried. Her body was shivering because of the cold and her dress was ruined. Nayeon didn't care, she dug her hands in the soil and sobbed a little louder. Maybe, this was the way of communicating with Jeongyeon again, feeling her soft skin for one last time.

"I found you, my love, after years of searching." Nayeon smiled, burying her hands deep inside the soil and digging, whimpering and groaning.

Every emotion she had towards the blonde girl was now poured out into the ground, all the tears she had kept to shed when she would finally see her again, mixed with those of the sky. Because, the sky was crying today too. It was probably fate, Nayeon thought.

Her eyes widened as she clutched what she assumed was a piece of paper and dug dipper until she could finally pick it out. It was an old piece of paper and the writing on it was barely readable. Nayeon wondered how long had this been there and who it belonged to, it wasn't her place to read it.

Either way, she did. It was a letter, written today, forty-four years ago. Nayeon squinted her eyes, trying to make out the letters on the old piece of paper as the beating of her heart intensified, although she thought that a wasn't possible.

"November 3rd 1975

Hello Nayeon-ah,"

The woman smiled, only one person ever called her that.

Although, you will never receive this letter I still wrote it. Well, not exactly wrote it..

I love you too, Nayeon. With all my heart and soul. I always did and still do."

Another tear fell from the woman's eye, landing on the old paper and staining it. The beating of her heart slowed down. Those were the words that she looked for all those years, the words that would bring her peace.

"Please do not mind my friend Chaeyoung, she was just overwhelmed. The accident was not her fault, it was simply bad timing.

I can tell why you do not recall of the event, you were just getting out of the Room. I know about it, I talked with your father. I could gladly fill you in with the details, if you'd like me to."

Nayeon nodded even though she knew Jeongyeon wasn't there to see her.

"I was on my way to Suwon, running away from my feelings. The road wasn't really busy so I thought of going really fast, for the thrill of it. Sadly, when a car appeared in front of me I couldn't stop in time, causing a massive car crash. The car's passengers, who so happened to be my friends Chaeyoung and Mina, were also leaving Gimje together and were heading to Seoul. Hopefully they are all fine now.

The pain that rushed through my body wasn't as bad as the one I felt in my heart when I made the decision to leave you behind, I'm truly sorry about that."

"Please, don't apologize." the woman mumbled, the smile on her face morphing into a frown.

"I expected you to come to my funeral, but judging from your letters you didn't know. It's okay though, I will always watch you from up here and make sure you're doing just fine."

Nayeon wished she could come, she wished she could say one last goodbye. They hadn't even exchanged the words they wanted to before they parted ways, and the brunette always felt guilty about it.

"I always watched. I watched you write these letters, getting married, moving to a bigger house with your husband and even if the pain in my chest will never go away I'm glad that you're doing alright.

Your husband seems like a nice guy, I feel relieved now, knowing that he makes you smile. Please never forget about me and our little adventures, I had a lot of fun with you."

"He was, love," Nayeon chuckled "Albeit, no one can compete with you." her chest tightened, sweat started to form on her forehead and palms.

"I will alway love you, Im Nayeon, my beautiful angel.

Love,
Yoo Jeongyeon"

"I love you." the girl breathed out, her grip on the paper loosening as the pain in her chest becoming more intense, her body went numb.

Nayeon's breathing was getting heavier and her hands were shaking, her eyes threatened to close under the harsh raindrops. She had a hard time understanding what was happening, but she leaned against Jeongyeon's tombstone either way.

Her eyelids were heavy and she closed her eyes, she needed some rest. She couldn't see well and her head was killing her.

"Mina, honey!" a trembling voice sounded and two figures hovered above Nayeon.

"Is this..?"

"Nayeon-ssi!" Chaeyoung fell to her knees and shook the older's body. However, she didn't respond as fell open.

"What is going on?" Mina questioned, her white hair messily falling in front of her eyes.

"I think she just had a ."
