2 days after tomorrow will be Bae Joohyun’s 30th birthday and as the sweetest girlfriend, Seulgi wanted to do something special for her lover. However, she couldn’t think of any way that could possibly be surprising to the other girl.

Sitting in the corner of her favorite coffee shop drinking her 2nd glass of latte for the day, Seulgi glanced over the list of things she had considered.

Buy her a necklace

Flowers

Take her to Jeju

Go on a drive to the beach.

Throw her a surprise party

“aaaaaaaargh” she groaned in frustration

Just in time for her third order of latte to arrive, the waiter -which Seulgi’s childhood friend is- noticed her troubled face

“what’s wrong with you?” he asked

“its Joohyun’s birthday soon and I still don’t know what to do” Seulgi answered

Sehun, the waiter, took the paper from seulgi’s grip and took a glance

“I don’t know what you’re stressing about, these things are pretty good already” he raised his eyebrow

“not really”

“how so? Enlighten me”

Seulgi let out a deep sigh “Well, I can’t just buy her a necklace because I would look like a beggar if Damiani send her tons of jewelry. And for sure every brand she endorses will send her the prettiest bouquets. I can’t take her for a trip because of her busy schedule, it gets in the way. I would love to take her to the beach but she doesn’t really trust my driving skills. Plus, I don’t have a car. wait, should I go buy a car? oh yeah right, I can’t. I’m still paying for the apartment I bought. That left me with the surprise birthday party but then I don’t know how”

“wow. That’s…”

“yeah” she casually said

“stupid. You’re so stupid” Sehun finished his sentence

“Hey! I’m offended!” she protested and playfully smack him in the gut

“The gifts from you, Bae joohyun’s girlfriend -the love of her life-, will never compare to the things the companies provide for her because believe me, they don’t contain emotions. They do it because they are obligated to send greetings to their artists. Stated in their contract. While you, stupid human being, do it because you love her. Unless you don’t” he shrugged

Seulgi had open, speechless for what her friend told her

“wow”

“yeah, wow. Sometimes I do wonder how you managed to get a girl too good for you. Irene’s way too good for you” he harshly

“you know what, if you just weren’t my friend, I would have complained to your manager how clumsy you are. You spilled coffee on my shirt!” she bickered.

Sehun felt bad so he ran to his locker to get one of his extra shirts, his Friday uniform to be exact.

“here, change to this, its only Tuesday today so you can borrow it” she rolled her eyes but accepted anyways.

They shared glances and they suddenly burst out into laughter.

They have a weird kind of friendship.

Seulgi was annoyed to herself, she was preoccupied with the birthday planning that she didn’t noticed her girlfriend’s message. So, she replied right away when she read it.

Good thing Joohyun is always understanding, she couldn’t keep mad at Seulgi for a long time so they easily solved the issue and Seul promised to always check her phone from then onwards.

The next day, she texted Joy if she had suggestion and as expected from the y dynamite, she had nothing but naughty opinion

Kim Yerim was unreachable. That kid was probably cursing some random player as she play games in her computer.

The next thing Seulgi knew, she was already at the grocery market to buy ingredients.

“she didn’t say what seaweed so I guess this will do” her cart contained foods that Seungwan had listed in the recipe.

And she might or might not grabbed a few, about five, cans of pringles along and continued buying the essentials

“flour. Do I just get any flour?” she picked whatever white powder she saw in the baking aisle; she picked a pack of unlabeled type of flour -but seems to be flour to her-. Or she thought

“fresh Carrots for the carrot cake!”

She passed by the preserved canned goods and spotted a big can of pickled carrots and she smiled big.

“aha! Now I don’t need to go the vegetables section, I don’t wanna see those yucky veggies.” She patted herself at the back for doing a good job.

She bought balloons and birthday candles as well.

On her way back to her apartment, she saw a jewelry store along the road and thought about what Sehun said. She finally decided to get Irene one.

She looked at each piece the store has but couldn’t quite find anything unique to her taste so she asked the employee

“do you do personalized pendants?”

she almost jumped for joy when the manager seated with her and ask for the specific details she wanted to be put on.

She’s off to a good start.

She had to hide her groceries and party essentials to the guest room and locked the door because Irene will come over. Her girlfriend promised to make time for her today and make up for the past days she’s been busy.

“Hey”

Seulgi almost cursed in surprise when she saw Joohyun standing behind her as she locked the door to the guest room.

“you scared me” she placed her palm on top of her chest as if she had a heart attack
