I know this series has ended 20 years ago and nobody will probably even read this as many people have moved on from DIF4 but the ending of DIF4 always made me bitter and angry at how the writers have decided to end it. 

Recently, I have been rewatching DIF4 and the last episode actually made me feel like the writers were planning for a DIF5. It's no surprise if they do as DIF 1-3 was a set with the same characters. Furthermore with the popularity of DIF4, I'm sure they intended to continue with the DIF4 characters to DIF5. There are a few things I noticed:

1. In the hospital scene where Chin Chin was saved, Kwan told Fei firmly that there are more important things than love in life. And that Fei has to do right by Chin Chin as he has owed her too much. (Obviously, Fei wanted to be together with Kwan and Kwan had to quickly remind him of that fact)

2. In Kwan's apartment, Fei told Kwan that he wanted her to be the woman who have his apartment key. Again, Kwan had to remind him that it wasn't right. Fei then hugged and kissed Kwan. (He still couldn't let her go which was shown again in this scene)

3. The strange bar scene ending where Fei looked shocked/jealous when he saw Tze Sun talking to Kwan (I'm sure the writers were going to continue a DIF5 but it was probably due to Sunny leaving TVB and Louis leaving soon later as well)

All these points above made me feel that this wasn't supposed to be the proper ending for the writers as well so here I am, trying to tie up some loose ends and to heal my bitter heart.
