Mina has erected a system in her life that dictates whether or not a person will be worth her time and effort. Basically, if Mina predicts that said person will cause her any form of emotional pain in the event that they walk out of her life, she does not engage in a relationship with that person. This means that even the thought of a romantic relationship is completely cast out of the realm of possibility.
