Prologue - Proving Them Wrong

    “'Taemin sat on one of the numerous benches in the park. It was raining and the dark gray rain clouds blotted out any sunlight that dared to shine through. The heavy droplets of rain fell on his head and clothes, soaking his hair and skin.
    “'Loud and heavy splashes were heard from a few feet away. Taemin turned to see Minho running up to him, just as soaked. “Taemin, I'm sorry. I-”
    “'“Don't, Minho. Don't even try to apologize. There's no way you can make up for this one,” Taemin said, turning away.'”
    Shin Chaejun continued to read the SHINee, 2min fanfic story on AsianFanFics.com off to his twin brother, Shin Taejun. After a few more lines, Taejun finally stopped his brother.
    “Next! God almighty, that was horrible,” he winced.
    Chaejun clicked the browse button and typed in a term he knew his brother would like: JongKey. Up came the results and he skimmed through them, analyzing the titles and quickly reading the snippets of the summaries inside. He found one that was interesting and clicked into it. It was a short oneshot.
    “' Jonghyun stood outside the house of Kim Kibum, throwing rocks at his window...'” Chaejun read off.
    He continued to read. He got not even a fourth of the way through when the atmosphere in the story became heated.
    “Stop, stop, stop! My ears are burning! For the love of everything good and sane in this world, why are all of these fics either a heart breaking 2min story or an inappropriate JongKey fic?! It's disgusting how derogatory these stories are! Doesn't anyone on this site know how to write a decent SHINee fanfiction?! They're ruining their reputation!” Taejun shuddered with the lingering words of the JongKey oneshot.
    Chaejun turned to his older twin by about three and a half minutes. “Hyung, don't be like that. There are thousands of stories on this site that are SHINee related. I'm sure even a few of them must be a decent read.” Taejun looked back at him with one of his “yeah right” looks. He turned back to the computer and slumped down on the desk. “And if there are any decent ones, we're not finding any.”
    Taejun scoffed. “I'll bet you the shawols in South Korea actually have sense in their heads that SHINee is not gay!!!!”
    “Maybe it's just their fangirls. They see them hugging and touching each other and they think 'Oh, their homoual acts are so cuuute! Let's write a 2min or a JongKey fic about it!' And then, instantly, it goes in the wrong direction and ends up...like this one...” Chaejun gestured to the JongKey oneshot.
    “Where does one find decent shawols these days, I wonder...” Taejun sighed. “Obviously not here in New York. Or the States for that matter.”
    The Shin twins were Korean-Americans, born of a Korean father and an American mother, living in New York City. They were sixteen year old Sophmores in high school. They both had short, glossy black hair and bright green eyes. They both were of the same, lean and healthy build. Chaejun was the reasonable and sensitive one, while Taejun was the tough, defending, and protective one who was afraid of little to nothing.
    Upon researching their Korean heritage for a school project back in middle school in 2008, they learned about the K-pop industry and, ultimately, SHINee. Spontaneously, they became die hard fanboy shawols, a rare breed, as they sometimes called themselves. They respected the boy band for everything they were worth and everything they represented. Chaejun was a Taemint and Taejun was still caught between being a Locket and a Blinger, since he acted like both of them. They had all their CDs, their SHINee World Concert DVD, Taemin, Key, and Onew's Barcelona travel guide, and everything else they had released. They knew every fact, every little detail known to the shawol community and then some. They honestly believed that there was not one SHINee related question that they couldn't answer, and getting it wrong was even rarer. In their hearts, they believed that SHINee represented everything that best friends and brothers should be. They knew and understood that their brotherly love was SHINee's most treasured value in their relationship.
    You can imagine their reaction when they found the AFF site.
    Then Chaejun got an idea. He turned to his brother. “Hyung, what if we write our own SHINee fanfic and try to show the AFF members that you can write a fanfic about them without it being ridiculously outrageous.”
    “That's a good idea, but what would we make it be about? I really don't want it to be a romance story.”
    “Why don't be make it a fictional biography?”
    “A what?”
    “A fictional biography. We take everything we know about them to be true, and try to imagine what their lives have been like since they entered the SM Academy and met each other.”
    “You mean give our take on how we imagine they met each other, reacted to each other, became friends and how SHINee came to be?”
    “Yes, but I'm talking even further than that. We write it up to the present day. Instead of just writing about their trainee days, we write about when they came out with Noona Neomu Yeppo, Sanso Gateun Neo, Juliette, Ring Ding Dong, Lucifer and all the way up to today. We tell their whole story. Well, what we know of it. The rest, we'll just make up as we go.”
    Taejun studied his younger twin and grinned. “Dongsaeng, I love the way you think. Let's do it.”
    And so they set out to writing their SHINee, fictional biography, having no idea what would occur almost three months later...
