The True Queen: A BTS Six Fanfiction

Description

A prince of Chryseum, Jung Hoseok is only fifteen when he sets foot on the shores of Aurum. The youngest son of the powerful monarchs Nichkhun and Wooyoung, Hoseok is a coveted prize for a royal marriage and Taecyeon, Prince of Amethyst, and heir to the throne of Aurum, has won his hand. But tragedy strikes and Prince Hoseok is betrothed to the future King Namjoon. He must wait for his husband’s coming-of-age, an ordeal that tests his resolve, casts doubt on his trusted confidantes and turns him into a virtual prisoner.

For seven years, he endures the treachery of spies, the humiliation of poverty, and intense loneliness and despair while he waits for the inevitable moment when he will step into the role he has prepared for all his life. Then, like his warrior mother, Hoseok must take to the battlefield and save Aurum when its old enemies come over the border and there is no one to stand against them but the new Queen.

Hoseok’s patience is rewarded when he becomes Queen of Aurum. The affection between Hoseok and Namjoon is genuine, but forces beyond his control threaten to rend his marriage, and indeed the nation, apart. Namjoon has fallen under the spell of Hoseok’s maid of honour, Park Jimin. Now Hoseok must be prepared to fight to the end for his faith, his legitimacy, and his heart.

Foreword

The trial was filled with men. Several of them were stoic and full of ambition. I stood in front of the bench and looked up to find men who I knew, in the end, would not rule in my favour. There was no hope of convincing anyone here. No one would or listen to reason. They were all beyond my forgiveness and patience. They would have to search in their hearts for the forgiveness of the Creator. As they whispered amongst themselves about what to say next, I turned and kneeled before the King of Aurum, my dear husband.

“My Lord, how have I offended you? I have been a true obedient husband. I have loved all those you have loved and given you children, though it has pleased the Creator to take them away. If there is any just cause against me, I will happily leave with my shame and dishonour. But I tell you, as the Creator is my witness, there is none. So I beg you, dear husband, to spare me this humiliation. But if you will not, and you wish to challenge the validity of our marriage, then let it be in a proper court and by the only authority I recognize. His Holiness himself, the Bishop of Eruditio.”

I arose and left the room against the calls and throngs of men talking loudly. They begged me to come back to court. I refused them as they refused me my right. They belittle me and choose to push me aside as the weaker pawn that the King foolishly thinks he can brush aside. I will not. I am the son of the greatest monarchs this world has ever known. I am a son of Chryseum and a prince of the two kingdoms of Fortis. If I am challenged, I shall not be defeated.
