Centuries ago, the gods and goddesses roamed the world freely; Frolicking through the cities placed and named in their honor; across the seas where kings set on conquests under their names.But as the summers and winters pass, their presence slowly faded from the human consciousness - the rituals and festivals soon lost to the ages, their names only whispers of their former prominence.
The gods needed a new home - and so Arete was created.
Arete, the lost city, is hidden by glamour in the heart of South Korea, Seoul. Going to any one of the ferry terminals along the Han River, only immortals can purchase tickets to board a ferry to Acheron port, the gateway to the city.
Equipped with the comforts of modernity, the city offers its residents a haven from the prying eyes of mortals, free to live their lives as unrestricted as they would have millennia ago.
Arete was created with this thought in mind - how would ancient gods, goddesses, demigods, & creatures accustom themselves in a new and modern world? In Arete, any immortal being can:
(1) stay there and use their power without the fear of either causing mass devastation to mortals; and
(2) live somewhat normal lives since humans are pretty much on their own.
This RP is loosely based of the canon of greek mythology so gender-bending may occur. However, we cannot change that certain goddesses (i.e. Artemis) are al gods.
