Prologue

The terror of the Mongols

Baekhyun bashed through his frontdoor in order to flee from his house, which had just been set on fire, then collapsed to the floor. The toxic smoke had entered his lungs and with all his might he tried to cough it out of his body. The moment he regained his breath, he immediately turned to his house, suddenly remembering the disaster he had just escaped. The fire spread rapidly and he watched desperately as his house, the place where he had spent his childhood, was destroyed. His father had built it when he was little, just a few years before he was sent to war. His job was to chase away those monstrous invaders, but he hadn't succeeded. Because now that wild intruder stood face to face with him. He was a distant relative of the Great Khan, everyone knew him. People spoke badly about him, but only the people who had seen him in person knew that "evil" was only mildly expressed. Baekhyun jumped up from his half-lying position and looked at him, the grin that enveloped his mouth in combination with that empty, totally unaffected look made Baekhyun almost puke.

"Hello Baekhyun, I have been looking for you." The enemy sitting on his horse gave a subtle incentive with his heels to approach Baekhyun. Baekhyun, however, was not afraid, he only felt a fire within him, a fire greater than the fires that were swallowing his village.

"What do you want, Khadagh?" He said, trying to contain his anger, but his eyes spoke volumes. He gradually let his hand slide to his back pocket. Khadagh came even closer to him, until his horse was bent over Baekhyun. He clicked his tongue, "Didn't your father teach you manners? He really seemed like a civilized man until he tried to kill me with a fork. Well, I quickly taught him his lesson. I hope that the next time he lives, as your people believe, he still feels the experience of twenty forks stabbed into his body. ”Baekhyun had almost grabbed the dagger in his back pocket, but suddenly dropped his arms when he heard this. His legs collapsed like a dam that was broken by an abundance of water. He fell to the floor and looked down, hands on his knees, trying to hold in his tears. Khadagh got off his horse and walked over to the boy. Baekhyun heard the footsteps heavy due to the weight of Khadagh's iron armor, but he did not kick. it didn't affect him anymore. Then, gathering all the power in him, he said in a brave voice, “Then kill me, you cold-blooded monster. Cut me down like you did with my father and do it soon before I do anything to you. ”Khadagh laughed loudly. Baekhyun looked up, surprised by his reaction. Khadagh's smile disappeared as quickly as he had come and with a serious frown and the speed of lightning he grabbed Baekhyun by the collar. That nasty grin returned, and in a deep, slow voice he said as intimidatingly as possible, "Don't worry Baekkie, I have a much better plan in store for you." He abruptly pushed Baekhyun to the ground, Baekhyun landed face first in the mud and immediately felt a heavy foot land on his back, he let out a soft groan from the pain. “Soldiers, take this one with you! Don't forget to burn down everything and kill everyone, especially his mother!" He shouted, then he chuckled. He leaned down, remaining a strong hold on the boy with his foot, and pulled his head up by grabbing his hair. Murmuring sounds of pain escaped Baekhyun’s mouth. Khadagh then said in a softer voice, again very intimidating,"Let our Baekkie become an orphan." He abruptly let go of the boy’s hair, which feel to the ground with a thump and Khadagh burst out laughing again. Baekhyun tried to struggle, but his enemy had him pushed him to the ground, with no possibility of escaping. However, he kept trying until he saw his mother, she fled, the soldiers ran after her, no fewer than five men. One of them threw a spear at her and it struck her right in her back, she fell down, the other four men grabbed her and the man who had thrown the spear approached her. He grasped her hair tightly and turned around, looking directly into Baekhyun's eyes,

With a quick lash he cut off her head. Baekhyun stiffened and as he saw the blood flow, he saw red and black before his eyes. Anger overflowing. But he couldn’t do anything. The stains of red and black color torturing his mind. He was shaking. Screams of the terrified people of his village. Red. Sweat dripping down his face. The screams of his fleeing mother. Black. Tears flowing. Black. The image of his mother’s head on the ground. Red. Pain. Black. Numb. All black before his eyes...

When he awoke, he was lying on a cart, en route to the Mongolian imperial palace.
