The Little Things [Discontinued Indefinitely]

I apologize dearly... here is a long chapter to make up for it hopefully ^_^v

[Sooyoung’s POV]

I got up on stage next to Hyoyeon and she looked at me with relief.

“Where did you go? Did you find your angel?” she asked with a teasing grin.

I lightly punched her. “Shut up.”

She just giggled and we looked out to the crowd.

“Congratulations you two! The judges had very little to critique about your performance. Although it was a shaky start, it was easily forgotten by the brilliant performance that followed…” the announcer continued with her little speech. I was just enjoying the moment and looked out where I had left Jessica and Tiffany, but I realized that they were gone.

I furled my brows in confusion.

‘Where did they go?’ I wondered and tried to sift through the crowd in hopes of finding her. I knew that she didn’t like large crowds so she couldn’t be in the midst of it all. Something in my gut was telling me that something was wrong and I bit my lip a little paranoid of the possibilities.

I felt a nudge on my arm. “Something wrong Soo?” Hyoyeon asked, giving me a strange look.

I shook my head. “Nothing…” I whispered in response, but I had a strong feeling that something was wrong.

The speech continued on for what seemed like ages and I was growing restless and slightly antsy.

“Ah!” I heard a faint scream and instantly looked in the direction from where it came from.

I realized there was a large crowd that was gathered around the spot where I had left them.

I looked harder and for a moment I swear I saw a flash of blonde hair. My anxiety was building and I was growing worried.

I tried to convince myself that I was just being paranoid and turned back to the roaring mass in front of me.

‘I’m scared… Sooyoung’

A voice echoed in my mind and my heart beat hard. I flashed my gaze back to the crowd.

“Sica…” I whispered unconsciously and before I knew it, my body was moving on its own.

I felt myself fly from the stage, landing awkwardly and scraping my knees and palms in the process.

“Sooyoung!” I could hear a shout behind me, but I ignored it and just continued to run.

I drilled my way through the people and finally burst through an opening.

Jessica was huddled on the ground, holding her head and shaking. I didn’t think twice and rushed towards her wrapping my arms around her body.

“It’s okay Sica… You don’t need to be afraid anymore… I’m here.” I soothed into her ear and brushed her hair.

I could feel her fingers clinging to my loose shirt and her head burying into my chest.

I couldn’t help but feel guilty for leaving her. That didn’t matter now though.

I securely tightened my grip on her body and lifted her up. There was a sharp pain in my knee but I gave it no attention and made my way through the audience that seemed to watch us curiously and whispering to one another.

I walked towards the gate and away from the festival. I figured I better take her back to the dorm.

She was still clinging to me and I felt my shirt a little wet. This was the first time I had ever seen her cry aside from when I first met her. I chuckled at the memory. We sure had come a long way from then.

Sica’s grip loosened slightly and I could only hear small breaths. She had fallen asleep.

I just hoisted her closer to me and continued to walk down the quiet street.

[General POV]

After a bit of walking, Sooyoung was becoming weary as the tiredness was finally taking its toll on her thin body.

She looked to her right and noticed a small park with a few benches surrounding a large fountain in the centre.

“Perhaps we can stop here for a bit.” She thought and took a seat on a shaded bench under a cherry blossom.

“Perfect.” She smiled and sat on the far side of the bench, with Jessica’s head on her lap and the rest of her body resting on the other side.

She finally let out a relaxed breath, watching a few people pass on bicycles and small children playing around.

Sooyoung takes a look down at Jessica’s eased expression. She found herself smiling warmly.

“I’m sorry…” Sooyoung whispered. “I shouldn’t have made you go when I knew you weren’t comfortable.”

Jessica remained unmoving.

“I’m sorry for being selfish…” Sooyoung continued to gaze downwards. “I just love seeing you smile and laugh… even if it isn’t me that you’re smiling at.” She mumbled quietly.

A single, light pink petal drifted downwards, landing on Jessica’s cheek.

Sooyoung cupped Jessica’s cheek lightly, and brushed the petal off with her thumb. She found herself staring at every feature on Jessica’s face from her milky skin, to her perfectly curved lips. Sooyoung leaned down a little closer.

Jessica stirred and opened her eyes hazily, only to meet Sooyoung’s eyes.

‘Is this a dream? Why am I looking into the eyes of an angel?’ Jessica thought for a moment, as she just continued to stare at the pearly brown orbs in front of her.

“You’re awake.” Sooyoung smiled brightly.

Jessica just lay there for a moment, finally realizing the state she was in and her eyes widened. Her head jolted upwards, knocking Sooyoung back, forcing her to groan in pain as she held her face.

Jessica, who was rubbing her forehead, sat up and looked at Sooyoung.

“What are you doing?! Where am I?” she shouted.

Sooyoung held her aching forehead. “Yah! Why are you treating me like some kidnapper huh? After I saved you…” she grumbled.

Jessica looked at her. “S…saved me? What are you…” she trailed off, remembering what happened. “Oh. Sorry.” She apologized. She glanced around her surroundings. “Where are we?”

Sooyoung sighed. “I was on the way back to the dorms, but decided to stop because you were getting heavy.”

Jessica shot her a cold glare. “Wait, you carried me?!”

Sooyoung just chuckled. “Yeah… you were practically clinging to me.” She teased.

Jessica punched her arm. “That’s not funny.” she pouted.

Sooyoung smiled. “I know, I know. Sorry.”

Jessica huffed and looked around.

“Where’s Tiff?” she asked.

Sooyoung shrugged. “I was wondering the same thing… I didn’t see her.”

Jessica frowned. “She seemed a bit upset by something… I should give her a call later.” She gave herself a mental note.

Sooyoung just smiled, but still felt a little saddened and a little angry at the thought of Tiffany leaving Jessica alone.

“So… how did you find me?” Jessica asked curiously.

Sooyoung paused. She didn’t really know herself.

“I tried to look for you, but I couldn’t find you. I noticed the crowd and kind of just… I don’t know, felt it I guess.” Sooyoung said scratching the back of her head.

“Felt it?” Jessica asked.

“I kind of… heard you.” Sooyoung said a little embarrassed now.

“Heard me huh?” Jessica smiled. “I’m glad.”

“What?” Sooyoung asked, not really hearing that last part.

Jessica quickly waved her hands. “It’s nothing… anyways, thanks. It’s kind of embarrassing you had to see me like that… and carry me.”

Sooyoung laughed. “Don’t worry about it, everyone is afraid of something.”

“What are you afraid of?” Jessica asked, catching Sooyoung off guard.

“Uh…”she thought for a moment.

‘Losing you’

“You’re a little scary waking up in the morning.” She replied comically, earning her a hard punch in the arm.

“I like my sleep okay?!” she stuck her tongue out.

Sooyoung laughed and looked at her phone that was beeping, showing 5 missed messages from different people. She scrolled through the messages.

[From: Hyo]

Yah! Where did you run off? You missed the prize!

[From: Tae]

Are you and Jessica okay? I saw you walking out… Please message me back!

[From: Yul]

Hey! How is Sica-baby? Is she feeling okay? She isn’t good with crowds… I hope you’re taking good care of her ;)

[From: Seo]

Is everything okay Unnie? I saw you jump from the stage at the dance competition. You really gave everyone a shock!

Sooyoung finally got to the last one, which was from an unknown number. She looked at it curiously.

[From: Unknown]

Don’t think you’ve won yet. I’m not giving up.

Sooyoung furled her brows in confusion.

‘Don’t think I’ve won? Won what?’ she stared at her phone for a few more moments.

“What is it?” Jessica asked, breaking her thought.

“Oh, just the girls wondering what happened… I just told them we’re okay and carry on with the festival.” She replied.

Jessica frowned. “Sorry… I know you were looking forward to it.”

Sooyoung smiled. “It’s okay it was getting a little too busy for my liking… plus, the day is still young… why don’t we have our own fun?” she stood up and winced a little.

“Are you okay?” Jessica stood up, supporting her.

Sooyoung just nodded. “Yeah… just a little stiff from sitting so long.” She lied. In honesty, her knee was in pain, but it was tolerable enough to walk.

Jessica seemed to believe it and stretched her arms.

“Shall we go then Ms. Jung?” Sooyoung asked in a playful tone.

“Go where, Ms. Choi?” she asked back in the same lively tone.

Sooyoung thought for a moment. “Why don’t we just walk around the park?”

Jessica shrugged. “Why not?”

~~~~~
After awhile of walking and enjoying the scenery, the two walk by a playground to find a young girl on the swing set, crying loud enough for them to hear.
“Do you think she is okay?” Sooyoung asked a little worried.
Jessica shrugged. “She’s probably just lost her teddy bear or something.”
Sooyoung frowned at Jessica’s rather cold response.
“Come on, let’s go see.” She ignored Jessica’s reluctant stare, and walked over to the girl.
She was sniffling and had her head down.
“Hey, are you okay?” Sooyoung asked gently, kneeling down to meet eye level with the distraught girl.
The girl just continued to sniffle and met eyes with Sooyoung’s.
“I… lost my Unnie…” she managed to say, tears, flowing down her face.
Sooyoung wiped the tears on her cheeks and smiled warmly. “Why don’t we help you find her?”
The young girl eyed them suspiciously.
Sooyoung noticed her hesitance and chuckled. “It’s okay… we don’t bite.” She glanced over to Jessica then back to the girl. “Well I don’t anyway.”
However, Jessica heard this and slapped Sooyoung’s shoulder. “YAH!”
Sooyoung rubbed her shoulder and pouted.
The young girl began giggling. “You Unnies are funny.”
Sooyoung smiled and stood up, extending her hand out. “So what do you say?”
After a brief pause, the young girl nodded and took her hand, hopping off the swing.
“What is your name by the way?” Sooyoung asked.
The girl smiled brightly. “Jiyoung!”
“Well Jiyoung, my name is Sooyoung, and this icy one is Jessica.” Sooyoung explained.
Jessica just gave her a cold glare that sent shivers down their spines.
Jiyoung hid behind Sooyoung. “She’s scary Unnie.”
Sooyoung chuckled. “It’s okay… underneath it all, she’s not that tough.” She winked.
~~~~~

[Jessica’s POV]

“It’s okay… underneath it all, she’s not that tough.” Sooyoung winked at the small girl.

‘Was she teasing me for that incident earlier?’ I thought and frowned, crossing my arms.

Sooyoung laughed and we began walking away.

“So, where did you last see your unnie?” Sooyoung asked.

Jiyoung thought for a moment. “We were walking down the path and she told me to wait on a bench while she was meeting a friend. I saw a stray cat and I followed it… then I got lost.” She looked like she was going to cry again.

I couldn’t help but emphasize with her, when I remembered the time I got lost at the amusement park when I was younger.

“It’s okay… We’ll help you find her… right Sica?” Sooyoung asked, looking at me.

I nodded after hearing the circumstances, a little less reluctant of the idea.

She perked up. “Thanks Unnies!” Jiyoung beamed.

“Where do we begin? Do you have a her phone number we can call?” I asked.

Sooyoung looked down at Jiyoung expectantly.

Jiyoung shook her head. “I don’t know…”

“Any friends or anyone?” I continued to ask.

She shook her head again. “Sorry I don’t know…”

I let out a sigh. “Well maybe she’s looking for you… let’s check the around area.”

The young girl nodded, still clutching Sooyoung’s hand. I turned away and quickly walked ahead not really knowing where I was going. The two caught up to me and I slowed my pace a little.

“You’re really enthusiastic all of a sudden.” Sooyoung commented and I just shrugged.

We continued walking around the path and pointed out a few women, but Jiyoung just shook her head.

“Wait!” Jiyoung exclaimed, startling both of us.

“What is it?” I asked and she ran over to a bench with an overflowing trashcan beside it.

“This is the bench where we were!” she said excitedly.

We looked around, but there was only a few people walking around, particularly couples and elderly.

“She probably went to look for you… what do we do now?” I frowned.

Jiyoung began to whimper and tears rimmed her eyes. I began to panic, not really sure how to comfort children. It was always super awkward for me.

Thankfully, Sooyoung, bent down to eye level with the girl and patted her head.

“We’ll find her okay? She’s probably looking for you too. So don’t give up yet.” She gave a caring smile.

‘She’s really good with kids… she’d make a great parent someday…’ I thought and grinned softly at the thought.

Jiyoung nodded and hugged Sooyoung.

Sooyoung seemed surprised by this gesture, but just hugged the girl back.

“Ahem.” I coughed, breaking their little moment.

“Right.” She stood up. “So what to do now…” Sooyoung seemed to be in deep thought when a low rumbling could be heard.

I looked at Sooyoung and she clenched her stomach, laughing awkwardly.

I hit my forehead with my palm and shook my head. “Shikshin…” I muttered.

Jiyoung giggled and soon another rumble was heard. We both looked at her and she held her stomach too.

We all paused for a moment, before bursting out laughing.

“Why don’t we get something to eat, then we can figure things out from there?” I suggested, and the two nodded their heads, excitement plastered on their faces.

‘And its like I have two kids to deal with.’ I thought while smirking and we headed off to a nearby café.

~~~~~
“Ahh… it smells so good!” Sooyoung exclaimed, taking in the aromas around us.
“Don’t forget we have to find Jiyoung’s sister Soo… or we may get charged with kidnapping her.” I scolded and her and she nodded with her head down.
Jiyoung giggled and we found a booth. I sat on one side, while Sooyoung sat with Jiyoung on the other side.
I took a glance at them, while they ogled over the menu. I shook my head smiling.
“Looks like I got two shikshins on my hands.” I stated and they both stuck their tongues out at me.
“Jiyoungie wants a cinnamon bun~!” the young girl cutely sang.
“Sooyoungie wants a sundae~!” the taller one sang as well.
I had to cover my ears from the overflowing aegyo of the two.
“Aish, you two are seriously...” I didn’t even finish and just shook my head in disapproval.
The waitress came over and took our orders.
“A cinnamon bun and a strawberry sundae for the kids over there, and I’ll just have a steeped tea.” I said, handing her the menus.
The waitress giggled and nodded, taking the menus and walking away.
Sooyoung was sulking at me and I stuck my tongue out at her.
“You’re not eating anything?” she asked.
I shook my head. “Not really hungry…”
She frowned a little and our orders came quickly.
“Enjoy!” The waitress said and walked off.
It didn’t take long for them to dig into their treats, and I took modest sips of my warm tea.
“Sica~” Sooyoung sang.
“What?” I asked a little irritated at the aegyo.
“Say, ‘Ahh’” she said, nudging her spoon towards me.
I shook my head. “No thanks.”
She pouted but kept insisting. I shook my head reluctantly and she frowned.
“Jiyoung wants some!” the young girl explained.
“Good?” she asked, smiling sweetly.
The small girl nodded with a satisfied grin.
“Sooyoung Unnie!” Jiyoung shouted.
Sooyoung looked down and Jiyoung had a piece of cinnamon roll held out.
Sooyoung chuckled and opened ; Jiyoung popped the piece into it.
I twitched at the sight. Somehow, not wanting to lose, I nudged Sooyoung.
She turned to me and I leaned in, opening my mouth expectantly.
“I want some~” I said with unexpected aegyo.
She seemed surprised, but complied to my obvious request happily.
I sat back and swallowed the sweet substance. I eyed Jiyoung who was just giggling and finishing her treat.
Slightly, embarrassed at my actions, I just drank my tea as we just sat in silence.
“Thanks Unnies!” Jiyoung beamed and we just patted her head.
“Don’t worry about it… we need to go find your sister now yes?” Sooyoung said and she nodded.
“Well we looked around the park… where to now?” I asked.
Sooyoung looked up and down the street. “I’m not sure… maybe we should check the park again?” she suggested and I nodded.
They began to walk away, when I could hear some commotion behind me.
“Have you seen a little girl? She’s 7 and about this tall. ” I heard a girl around my age asking an older couple exiting a nearby shop. They shook their heads and walked away.
The girl looked extremely distressed and the creases in her brows showed it.
“Hey, wait!” I shouted at the two shikshins and they looked back.
“UNNIE!” Jiyoung shouted and ran towards the girl.
The girl then nearly fainted as they embraced.
“Jiyoung! Don’t EVER leave my sight again okay?” she sighed relieved.
“Unnie! I made new friends!” Jiyoung gleamed and pulled her towards us.
“Who…Sooyoung?” the girl asked.
“Uh… hi again.” Sooyoung waved.
“You know each other?” I asked.
“Yeah sort of...” Sooyoung replied, scratching the back of her head.
The girl on the other hand was grinning widely, her gaze still fixated on Sooyoung.
“Thanks so much for finding my sister! I really don’t know what I would have done…”
In the spur of the moment, she practically jumped on Sooyoung, giving her a hug.
I gritted my teeth, not really sure why but I shot her glares from behind.
To my relief, Jiyoung pulled her back.
“I’m sorry… Who are you and how do you know each other?” I asked, trying to control my tone.
“Oh, I apologize.” The girl turned to me. “My name is Goo Hara. I was good… friends with Youngie back in middle school.” She replied.
I cringed at the little nickname she gave her.
“I’m Jessica.” I blandly replied.
Sooyoung on the other hand was completely baffled, with confusion written on her face.
I looked at her with just as much confusion.
“Goo Hara…” I heard her mumble, her face was looking off as if trying to recall something.
“Anyways… we should really catch up again Young… it has been awhile.” Hara smiled.
“Er… yeah.” Sooyoung replied awkwardly.
“Give me your phone, I’ll give you my number.” She continued to grin from ear to ear as Sooyoung reached for her phone.
“Sure…” Sooyoung gave it Hara and she typed in some numbers, handing it back to her.
“I should really head back home now. See you around Youngie~” she cutely waved and walked off with her sister.
I scoffed, imitating her ‘See you around Youngie~’.
Sooyoung looked down at me. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
I cleared my throat and shook my head.
“She seemed really close to you…” I commented, not looking at her.
Sooyoung chuckled. “I guess…”
“Hmph…” I crossed my arms.
I began to walk off and Sooyoung ran after me. I didn’t look at her and just walked faster. I don’t know what caused me to act to childishly but I really hated the thought of that Hara girl, ogling over her ‘Youngie’… ugh.
“Sica wait!” Sooyoung called from behind me.
I continued to walk but instantly stopped when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist.
“Please don’t ignore me Sica… did I do something wrong?” she asked in a soft tone.
Blood began to rush to my face.
“I-It’s f-fine. I… I’m just tired.” I stuttered.
She seemed to believe me and let go. I frowned a little at the loss of contact but I felt her hand wrap around my shoulder as she walked beside me.
“Let’s head back then, hmm?” she whispered and I simply nodded, trying to hide my beet red face.
For the rest of the way, we walked in silence.
