What?

What?

From the way her eyes sparkle, to the way her nose scrunches upwards,  Nayeon’s smile was the most charming, and if anyone says otherwise, Jeongyeon will undoubtedly jump them, but that's besides the point. Right now, Jeongyeon was in a diner, and Nayeon was sitting in front of her, her laughter filling the quiet atmosphere, and Jeongyeon couldn’t help but stare in awe, a soft smile forming upon her lips. Hundreds of thoughts about her best friend running through her head. Right, her best friend, nothing more, nothing less. Nayeon wasn’t into girls, right? She only ever talked about boys in kdramas. Jeongyeon’s smile slightly faltered at the thought, and Nayeon noticed, her laughter fading away but a smile still evident on her lips.

“What?” Nayeon asked, and Jeongyeon hadn’t realized she’s been silently staring at Nayeon for the past twenty seconds. She felt the heat rise up in her cheeks, staining it in bright red.

Jeongyeon forced a smile, “It’s nothing.”

Nayeon eyed her suspiciously but after 5 seconds of staring, she eventually let it go, and started showing Jeongyeon more funny cat videos, which Jeongyeon didn’t find funny at all, but she laughed, because Nayeon laughed.

After 10 minutes of funny cat compilations, Jeongyeon rolled up her sleeve to check the time, it was almost midnight, and they should probably be heading back to their dorms.

“We should leave.”

“...Yeah.” Nayeon nodded as she put down a twenty dollar bill on the table and with that, they left the diner.

The moment Jeongyeon stepped out into the night, she felt the cold breeze of the alleyway hit her, she could feel Nayeon’s slight shudders next to her.

“I told you to get a jacket.” She said, tilting her head to look at the girl next to her, she put her hands in her pockets and spread her arms, gesturing for Nayeon to move closer. Nayeon looked at her hesitantly before moving towards her, engulfing herself in Jeongyeon’s jacket.

She muttered a soft thank you before resting her head on Jeongyeon’s shoulder, they continued walking towards their dorms.

On their way to the dorms, Nayeon abruptly stopped.

“Jeong…” She whined, “my legs hurt.”

“No.” Jeongyeon answered.

“Please?”

“No.”

“Pleeeaaassseee?”

“No.” She continued walking.

Nayeon stepped in front of her, stopping her in her tracks.

“Please?” She repeated softly, this time with a pout.

With a sigh, Jeongyeon dropped down to her knees, “Get on.”

Nayeon let out a gleeful squeak before positioning herself on Jeongyeon’s back. Jeongyeon placed her hands under Nayeon’s leg and with a grunt, she got up off her knees.

“You got heavier.” She lied, if anything, Nayeon was as light as a feather.

“I’m glad.”

Jeongyeon scoffed and started walking again, this time a bit slower considering the extra weight.

After 5 minutes, Jeongyeon felt Nayeon’s breaths get deeper, more even and discernible.

“Nayeon?” Jeongyeon whispered.

No answer. Nayeon had fell asleep on her back, withh her head on Jeongyeon’s shoulder, and Jeongyeon could feel herself melt, her heart picking up a higher pace. A soft smile spread across her face as she slowed down her steps, she didn’t want this moment to end.

Not 1 minute had passed before Jeongyeon started hearing Nayeon’s quiet snores, she couldn’t help but chuckle as quietly as possible at the unfairly adorable girl.

Another five minutes later, the dorms had appeared within Jeongyeon’s line of sight, with the older girl still on top of her, Jeongyeon had gotten slightly tired, so she picked up a faster pace and walked towards their dorm. Once she had reached their dorm she kept one hand under Nayeon’s leg, and she put her other hand in her pocket, fumbling with it until she found their dorm’s keys. Jeongyeon inserted the key inside the keyhole and turned it, the door opening as she turned the knob. She went inside and closed the door with her leg. This might look like its a lot to do when you’re literally carrying a human being on your back, but Jeongyeon has done it so many times it isn’t even challenging anymore. Jeongyeon already knew her way so she didn’t even bother with the lights, she went inside Nayeon’s room and once she had reached Nayeon’s bed, she gently put her down.

As Jeongyeon turned to leave, she felt Nayeon’s hand clutch at hers.

“Don’t leave.” Nayeon mumbled, her voice still hoarse with sleep.

Jeongyeon stood in place, at this point, she wouldn’t be surprised if her heart leaped out of her chest and ran away, but it didn’t.

Out of all the times Jeongyeon had to tuck in Nayeon to sleep, Nayeon had never done this, she had never asked her to stay.

“Please?”

What was she gonna do? Say no?

“Okay,” Jeongyeon whispered, “yeah, okay, I’ll stay.”

A soft smile spread across her face as she walked over to the other side of the bed, feeling the bed dip as she sat on it, the sheets moving under her as Nayeon laid back down.

She could feel Nayeon shuffle closer to her. It was all too fast for Jeongyeon’s brain to process, so without thinking, she wrapped her arms around Nayeon’s waist pulling her even closer than she already was, Nayeon nuzzled her nose into Jeonyeon’s neck, and Jeongyeon felt Nayeon smile against her neck, she couldn’t help but smile back, and although Nayeon couldn’t see it, she knew Jeongyeon was a flustered mess. Jeongyeon wrapped both of them in the white blankets before she put her chin over Nayeon’s head, shutting her eyes closed.

“...Jeong,” Nayeon mumbled against the younger girl’s neck.

Jeongyeon hummed.

“Kiss me.”

Jeongyeon’s eyes widened, and Nayeon could hear Jeongyeon’s heart beating against her ribcage.

“What?”

“You heard me the first time,” Nayeon looked up at her, “you know, you don’t need to if you don’t want to, you can just go back to your room-”

Jeongyeon was quick to cut her off, “N-no, I want to.”

“Then do it.”

Jeongyeon took a deep breath, “Okay,” she exhaled, “okay.”

Nayeon was still looking up at her expectedly before Jeongyeon leaned down and softly pressed her lips against Nayeon’s.

It felt like there were fireworks going off in her chest, butterflies in her stomach, lots of them, her heart, her heart was doing neverending backflips.

Jeongyeon broke off the kiss, earning herself a whine from Nayeon, she looked down at her, a smile tugging at her lips.

“Idiot.”

“Leave me alone.”

“Okay,” Jeongyeon tried to get off of Nayeon but failed miserably as the older girl pulled her back down. This time Nayeon initiated the kiss, pressing her lips against Jeongyeon’s this time more passionately, confidently. They were both smiling, causing their teeth to click. Jeongyeon moved away and laid back down next to Nayeon, face to face.

And they just sat there, staring at each other in complete adoration, and neither Jeongyeon nor Nayeon would trade this for the world. Jeongyeon spread her arms, inviting Nayeon in for the second time this night. Nayeon turned and moved her body backwards, positioning herself between Jeongyeon’s arms, her back pushing against Jeongyeon’s chest.

They stayed in that position for what seemed like an eternity, but neither minded.

Nayeon suddenly broke the silence, “I love you.”

“What?” Jeongyeon was caught off guard again.

“Jeong... do I really have to repeat everything I say?”

Jeongyeon laughed out loud, “I just want to hear you say it again!”

Nayeon smiled, “Right,” she chuckled, “I love you, you absolute imbecile.”

“I love you too.”
