origin & history

수마산들 (sumasandeul) is an institute of magic, located in an abandoned village in the shadows of the taebaek mountains (located near present day sokcho). the name comes from the words 수도회 (sudohoe), meaning ‘order’, 마법 (mabeob), meaning magic, and 산들 (sandeul), meaning mountains, giving it a loose translation of “the mountains of magic and order.”

the school was founded in the mid 6th century ad, in the kingdom of silla. the founders of the school were two true bone (noble) wizards, park areum and seok daehyung. the two formed the schools after taking notice of the disorder of the wizarding community, and it was their dream to build a school for all of the young wizards and witches in the three kingdoms. it was after the fall of the kingdom of baekje in 660 and the unification of the korean peninsula in 676 ad that the institute was opened to all young wizards from all over asia. however, seok did not live to see this dream accomplished, as he died in the silla-tang wars a year before. park, though, lived to see the flourishing of sumsandeul, before passing away in 740 ad at the age of 120.

sumasandeul, given it’s isolation in the mountains, had been fed by it’s own crops (attended to by its students), and was a self-sustaining village of its own until the early 12th century, when a connection between the economic and social wizarding world was established. still to this day, students at the school use the areas once used to harvest crops to instead grow rare herbs and ingredients for potions. rather than houses, students are enlisted to a prefecture upon entrance to the academy. the school teaches potions, enchantments and spells, dueling, and magical history. however, it includes electives such as non-magical mathematics, natural sciences, swordsmanship, taekwondo, and traditional dance and music to prevent full isolation from the muggle world.

UNIFORM & QUIDDITCH

students are presented with enchanted robes when they arrive, which grow in size as they do, and which gradually change color as the learning of their wearer increases, beginning a faint pink and becoming (if top grades are achieved in every magical subject) gold. if the robes turn white, this is an indication that the student has betrayed the wizard’s code and adopted illegal practices (which in europe, we call ‘dark’ magic) or broken the international statute of secrecy. to ‘turn white’ is a terrible disgrace, which results in instant expulsion from the school and trial at the ministry for magic.

sumasandeul’s reputation rests not only on its impressive academic prowess, but also on its outstanding reputation for quidditch, which, legend has it, was introduced to korea centuries ago by a band of foolhardy hogwarts students who were blown off course during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe on wholly inadequate broomsticks. rescued by a party of wizarding staff from sumasandeul, who had been observing the movements of the planets, they remained as guests long enough to teach their counterparts the rudiments of the game, a move they lived to regret. every member of the quidditch team and the current champion’s league winners (the taebaek puffskeins) attributes their prowess to the grueling training they were given at sumasandeul, where they practice over a sometimes turbulent sea in stormy conditions, forced to keep an eye out not only for the bludgers but also for planes from the muggle airbase on a neighboring island.

applying / reserving

you must be sixteen years old or older to join. because of the ages of idols nowadays, the years, of course, will differ. you may alter the age of your character by 3+/- (ie seokjin is 25, but you may roleplay him as a 22 year old or vice versa), unless said faceclaim is a minor in real life. we permit muses ages 16 (2002-current) and up.

this shouldn’t need to be said, but mature themes may not be roleplayed between adolescents (regardless of the age of the mun(s) involved). you will face expulsion IMMEDIATELY should we find out this rule is being broken.

reservations last (72) hours total. you may request an extension if necessary by messaging our aff base.

roleplayers may have up to (2) characters, both accounts must remain active or you will be asked to drop one of them. must wait ONE week before applying for your second. you cannot roleplay two people from the same group — for example, you can’t be jimin and jeongguk from bts. a third character is allowed upon approval from the STUDENT SENATE. it is your responsibility to keep all characters in the roleplay (be it one, two, or three) active and welcoming.

*muses can interact through social media with the format WIZ as opposed to SNS. this is to minimize limitations to the world of witchcraft and wizardry within the roleplay.

we accept all asians (those of descent as well), but we will not permit the deceased to be roleplayed, idols under the age of sixteen, people who have stated they do not want to be roleplayed (baek sumin, ahn lina, son hwamin, kiji, christian yu, xiu akay, ulzzang eyoung) pets and stars. if you are unsure whether your character will be accepted, feel free to ask us! please act in accordance with your character’s age and personality. everything should be strictly in character.

*because of the age range within the roleplay, we must be realistic. therefore, the age cap for students will be 23. fret not, however, as other positions are available if desired.

making / setting up your account

please make or recycle an account within the (48) hours that your application is accepted. failure to do so  will result in your desired muse to be freed up to the public.

english display names only. we encourage giving your muse an entirely different name aside from their faceclaim’s (ie oh ryoul INSTEAD of park jimin). american names are allowed as well! however, racebending is NOT (if your faceclaim is dong sicheng/winwin, they cannot be anything other than CHINESE).

double check that you have your mewe search option and let people view your posts/ contacts. double check and make sure only CONTACTS of CONTACTS can add you  and view your contact list.

include a magic related emoji on your profile somewhere (a wizard/magic ball). only accept contact requests from people with either of those visible.

character / roleplayer expectations / once you’ve arrived

selectivity in replies is negotiable, an example being you not wanting to give the other person a bad reply (we’d rather you be cordial with everyone), but generally frowned upon. however, visible effort must be exerted at all times. face-chasing and ship chasing are highly prohibited while cliques are inevitable but strongly discouraged.

if a hiatus is needed, the document can be found in the ooc group and is the pinned thread. hiatus may only last up to two weeks, while semi’s last up to a month. dp changes and reacting to posts do not meet the activity requirements. if on a semi-hiatus. you must be active on the timeline at least 2-3 times a week. failure to comply will also result in removal from the roleplay due to inactivity.

all ualities are welcomed. moving couples are allowed so long as the admins are alerted. we will not allow for characters (who are minors) to date those who are of legal age in character (this applies to as well, no matter the age of the roleplayer). anything ual is limited to private posts. keep it off the timeline.

roleplaying is and has never been all about relationships! that being said, there is a two-week dating ban for newcomers regardless of the previous relationship (i.e if your character likes someone you brought along to join with you) you might have had with someone else from another roleplay. this does not apply to moving couples, but please do inform the admins if you are a moving couple. NO BUBBLE ROLEPLAYING. WE WILL CONFRONT YOU IF WE SEE THIS OCCURRING. GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE.

mentions of , self-harm, abuse, and other sensitive topics are strictly prohibited along with both homophobic and racial slurs. you get one warning before expulsion should you continue. bashing and hating will result in automatic expulsion and drama should be reported to the admins who will take the necessary actions.

character changes are allowed once every two weeks, but you must remain your chosen character for a minimum of five days, so mull over it beforehand.

ic drama is to be limited, but ooc drama, on the other hand, is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate action from the admins. as a p*@s$w0rd, tell us your favorite harry potter spell!

do not bash others for their way of writing nor formatting of replies. degrading someone for not being able to mirror your replies is unacceptable, so as long as an effort is shown. please try to be cordial with everyone and try your best to welcome newcomers (offer to plot?)/bond with current members.

if you have an issue or any questions/comments/concerns, direct them to the STUDENT SENATE and make sure they are both aware of the situation.

ALL OOC POSTS BELONG IN THE DESIGNATED GROUP. the boundaries between ic and ooc should be clearly distinct at all times. keep ic and ooc separated at all times. if someone’s muse takes a disliking to yours, this does not mean the mun dislikes you.

god-modding is disallowed, meaning that you may not put another character in a situation to where you control their actions/emotions/etcetera. do not break the fourth wall! if you see something happening to your characters best friend or significant other, they do not know unless they are told by either party. the mun is not allowed to create conflict because of something that happened ic, so be aware of this prior to saying anything to anyone.

keep in mind that we run on a three strike system. any of those strikes that have been given include a warning as well. three strikes, and you are out. no exceptions.

remember, this is a CLOSED, AU, SEMI-LITE to lit roleplay. do not add outsiders and do not come in here expecting a cracky atmosphere.

if you plan on leaving the roleplay, you can inform us sending us a pm over aff or messaging the STUDENT SENATE. it is common courtesy to inform us of your departure. please be sure to unfriend everyone and leave the groups.

when you have been added into the groups and officially welcomed via group post, please redirect yourself to the great hall and introduce yourself to everyone! it is advised to utilize the  wiz format.

DAEYANG, 대양.

strong will and confidence are the values in which students of daeyang attain their desires. their charisma may be seen as inspiration, as this quality proves their ambition. pupils are known to be strategic thinkers, examining every perspective of a problem to create a long-term solution. the potential to become leaders is imminent through their own opinions. their impulse for achievement is not nearly as satisfying as their need to rise to a challenge.

daeyang prefecture has created young witches and wizards with a certain dominant nature. they become intolerant, impatient with ideals that do not suit their own. it is this sense of arrogance that may conflict with personalities that have opposite views. their emotions are distanced from physical and mental expression. students may be known as cold individuals who choose to dismiss personal circumstances to pursue their goals.

GONG-GI, 공기.

through objective thought and analytical approaches to the various challenges in one’s life, gong-gi prefecture boasts some of the greatest thinkers of the wizarding world. they are fascinated with the concepts that are simple or complex for it’s their belief that anything can
be evaluated. their open mind allows them to delve
deeper and create original connections.

sometimes so immersed in logic, others may be convinced that they are insensitive and condescending. they take pride in their knowledge, sharing their ideas to those who can understand their rationale immediately. the social struggle for students in this prefecture is their yearning for defiance. guidelines and social conduct hinder their unconventional creativity.

pupils of this prefecture are known for their imagination, as vast as their archive dwindles. it is their reliability and enthusiasm that compliments the beauty of their ideals. loyalty, above all, is the virtue in which they succeed in their endeavors. academic practice will only thrive if it is structured according to their merits. the harmony they have the potential to create, originates in altruism.

the standards of their perfection may create conflict with their own sense of duty. students may tend to choose to endure more than they are capable of. this may lead to repression of feelings, for the sake of protecting other’s. they are reluctant to change as their value for tradition and organization may take priority over new approaches to certain situations.

students of bul prefecture are known to be bold in
action and in words. their performance in academics is shown through eccentric projects and presentations. they are true lovers of philosophy, constantly applying their knowledge in daily life. pupils are known to be highly perceptive, noticing shifts in emotion and habits. it is this ability that enables them to create deep connections with other people.

due to their rationality and direct approach to social interaction, they may seem callous. their intrepid nature may or may not impose on those who are timid and shy. tendencies may lead to impatience as they enjoy moving at their own pace rather than waiting for others. repetition and rules may seem as a burden, as their preference is to take risks for experience.
