The Short Days

Description

I didn’t know how to stop
I didn’t know how to hide my heart
You and I, we were different before

When Hana forgot her umbrella on that cursed rainy morning,
she didn't realize her fate had been already enterwined with a known stranger.?

Foreword

At the bus stop as it rained
Your eyes that looked at me
Do you remember?

The waves of her shirts danced along the waves of the wind, flowing its every loose tempo. The girl dancing, socks plunged into the puddles, seemed to carefree yet the loneliness seemed to have engulfed her moving irises. She was soaked of the sky’s tears, water crawling down her visage like pearls, the scene unfolding in front of his eyes almost impeccable. He didn’t fall yet: his legs were numb and almost at edge to run and save her. She had long hair, reaching past her shoulders, the strands stuck to each other, damped. She did not have any umbrella in her hand nor upon her head, so he thought his extra umbrella might come in to hand. Unfolding his entirety, he ran almost, trying to touch her before she’s gone, dissipated in to the cool monsoon air.

Another step and perhaps I could be allowed to belong to her world.

However, everything whirled into darkness, the showers could be longer felt and the scene was gone. She was gone, it was etched in to his mind. When he woke up from his dream-like nightmare, his eyes fluttering to meet the blank ceiling above, he was frustrated.

He couldn’t figure out his wrong, why he was suffering like this. The rain droplets bounced off his windows, creating a sorrowful ambience as the ghastly echo of the thunderclaps resonated in his room.

However, the ties of helplessness burdened his legs, so that he would not touch her, feel the contour of her skin under his fingertips. Perhaps he was too stern about rules and that is where he went wrong.

Otherwise, perhaps, they couldn’t realise how time could be cruel, slipping away from their hands just like that. The periods of rain ended too, revealing a hidden sun under its coverage thereafter. Perhaps, they thought time was long and they had each other until they got enough.

Nothing would last forever, and they had forgotten that under the tears of the sky.
