Wine flavoured kisses

Do It All Over Again

A/N: To make things easier, in this story Bona and Luda are the same age (17), although Jiyeon is still a couple of months older. Good read!

Luda was hating it, but it was nothing new.

Her whole day had been pretty bad.

First her parents dumped her to go to some ‘business trip’ that she knew was only an excuse for them to go to some fancy hotel without her third wheeling – At 17 she was big enough to know it, they really didn’t need to be such a weird duo all the time and keep on making up dumb excuses to leave her behind. Well, at least they always gave her some extra money for take out food.

But then another thing happened to ruin her mood. She was using her alone time to focus on the latest game she had bought, being the shy kid she always been, instead of going out she would rather to stay in front of her beloved computer and kill some people (on the game, of course). She liked to think she was pretty good at it and she had quite a good team, if they could keep their lucky strike, they might even level up and get the money prize for that tournament. However, one of her dumb teammates decided that cheating would give them a better chance at winning, but it only got them kicked out of the competition and Luda had screamed her lungs out of frustration.

She was so mad at the dude that she could have strangled him, if she knew whom or where he was to begin with. But she couldn’t, even if she had the chance, all her ‘mad face’ usually evoked was laughs instead of fear. Her friend, Juyeon, used to say that she was too damn adorable and small, ruining any chance she ever had of looking intimidating.

So when Dawon called informing about her ‘huge and super fun surprise party’ (that was only a surprise because Dawon had decided to throw it after her parents had to leave for a work emergency and she got the house all to herself. Compared to this, Luda’s swearing at the computer screen and throwing a little fit due to a game didn’t seem that bad), she had to accept. She hated parties, but she would end up being kicked out of the game for good if she was allowed near her computer again that day.

The plan was simple, she would eat all the food she could find on Dawon’s fridge and try to avoid all the drunk people, after an hour or so she would be able to escape back home and hopefully her gamer stress would have gone away.

Unfortunately, now she had another source of stress. How fool she had been to think there would be any food in that messy place! Even more of a fool for believing she would be able to find somewhere slightly less noisy and keep a low profile.

She hadn’t had a single moment of peace ever since she set foot in the place.

There was too many people everywhere, enough to make it almost impossible for someone like her to move without having someone stepping over her feet. There were so many drunk kids that she thought she met every single kind of drunk people to ever exist. From her friends, Cheng Xiao and Eunseo, the funny drunkards that would laugh at anything and try to convince her to join them; To the annoying jocks that would try and drink from huge gallons of beer, only to throw up in the nearest vase while their dumb friends laughed.

Everyone insisted on putting those suspicious looking red cups full of warm beer in her hands, but she had seen enough of it to not feel not even a bit tempted. Actually, she risked to take a sip once, only to regret it right after as the bitter taste invaded .

Luda was starting to really consider the idea of sneaking out, hoping none of her friends would spot her, and go back home to fight some 12 year old cheater player on her game. But she didn’t get the chance to it.

She had just left the couch, avoiding a particularly affectionate couple that didn’t seem shy at all of making out right next to her. Lee was trying to go through the crowd, looking for an exit, when she heard a loud sound of a splash followed by the collective laugh and claps. Luda had no idea of what the hell was going on, her vision obstructed by all the sweaty bodies in front of her.

Hands touched her waist, making her turn around fast, ready to throw hands at some drunkard. But instead of a random dude, she met a familiar grin plastered on a very pretty face that belonged to no other than her friend borderline crush, Kim Jiyeon. Or Bona, like some people called her. “Kang Kyungwon just beer slapped a dude!” The girl announced, her grin growing wider, clearly she was enjoying the show.

“Did he deserved it?” Luda furrowed her eyebrows, getting on the tip of her toes to try to see anything. Kyungwon was a classmate of hers, but she didn’t recall the girl beer slapping anyone before, therefore there must have been a proper reason for it. Unfortunately, she didn’t see anything. Being short was surely a pain in the sometimes.

“Oh, believe me, he did! And it will be all over Instagram tomorrow to remind him of that.” Jiyeon still seemed excited about it, not that Lee could blame her for it. Some annoying jock getting what he deserved was definitely the most entertaining part of that night so far.

She nodded in response, glancing at the girl. “You just came in?”

Bona denied with a simple negative nod.

The raven haired girl was trapped in that party for hours. Don’t misunderstand, Jiyeon liked her parties just fine, but only as long as they weren’t a chaotic mess of teenagers. You could say her style was a bit fancier and less loud.

However, Dawon had recruited her to help getting everything ready as fast as possible and the Kim couldn’t run away. Long story short: She spent her precious time buying drinks illegally in the other side of the town to avoid her parents acquaintances and putting up some corny decorations that Dawon thought would make things more cheerful. Bona could’ve about her terrible taste, but as soon as people started to come in they hadn’t had a single moment of peace to properly talk. Dawon was probably regretting her life decisions now, while trying to prevent people from throwing up all over her mother’s plants.

Jiyeon tried her best to help keep things under control, but she had given up after having to kick out yet another drunk couple hooking up on the second floor bathroom. Honestly, how much gross could it even get? She surely didn’t want to wait around and see it for herself.

So, when by chance Jiyeon spotted the short light haired girl struggling to get through the crowd, she decided it would be her chance to sneak out.

She was actually happy to see Luda there. Lee wasn’t the type to enjoy these kind of events, and perhaps she was as bored and annoyed as Bona, but still, it was a good opportunity to catch up. They were friends for a very long time, although maybe it would be more accurate to say they were only ‘friendly’ now. They had grown apart with time, thanks to Luda’s reserved personality that made her a home body and Jiyeon’s overly packed schedule that wouldn’t let her stay at one place for too long.

If they were honest, they would also have to agree on the fact that none of them really tried to make time for the other. Avoiding each other had become a sort of mechanism to avoid the weird awkward atmosphere that was always there whenever they were alone.

However, today Jiyeon had the perfect excuse to have some one a one time with the other girl and try to get them over it.

“I was helping Dawon out, but I’m already done. You are leaving too, right? I can give you a lift.” She hoped Luda was indeed leaving and not only looking for another can of beer or a bathroom, or she would have made a fool out of herself.

Luckily for her, the smaller girl gave her a smile. “I’m not that much of a party person…I would appreciate a ride, thank you.”

Bona complimented herself mentally, a boost of confidence irradiating through her body.

“Honestly? Me either! Remember me to never agree on helping Dawon ever again.”

She smiled at girl, grabbing her by the hand and dragging her out of that mess before any of their friends could get into the way. Luda’s hand were small and slightly cold, the skin was soft beneath her light grip and Jiyeon liked the feeling, she also couldn’t help but to think that they hands fitted well together.

She didn’t let go of the girl until they were both inside her car.

The car ride was comfortable, filled with pop songs that were playing on the radio. Bona would hum to the music while Luda just smiled and watched her in the most subtle way she could – What wasn’t very subtle, but Jiyeon didn’t mind it at all, it was quite the opposite.

Luda’s house wasn’t so far, therefore soon Bona was parking her car in front of the Lee’s house.

“Well, here we are.” The older girl said, a sudden awkwardness dominating the atmosphere. She should’ve have planned it better, the ride was too short and they didn’t even properly talk about anything.

Jiyeon tried to think of a way of inviting herself to come inside without sounding like a creep, but her confidence was gone in the moment she noticed that Luda was ready to go already. She had to do something fast, or else she’d have wasted another opportunity and she really didn’t want to wait until they were back at school to talk – her ever so loud and excited family decided that travelling to Thailand would be fun, even if none of them knew a thing about the country or had a clue of what to do while they were there.

“Do you want to go for a ride?”

“You want to come in?”

They said at the same time and both laughed, relieved as they perceived that the wish of staying a bit longer in each other’s company was mutual.

“I mean, thank you for the ride.” Luda fidgeted, stealing a glance at the raven haired girl’s pretty face before looking back at her house. “I was just wondering if you wouldn’t want to come inside for a drink. You could consider it as a thank you for saving me from that party.” She wasn’t sure from where all that courage was coming, but she was thankful that for once she didn’t stutter and made a fool out of herself. Although, she could feel warmth on her face as the pinkness covered her cheeks, luckily for her inside the car it was too dark for the other girl to notice it – at least she hoped so.

“For a drink? What about your parents?” Jiyeon wasn’t even sure how she was able to speak, judging how much her face was stretching thanks to the ridiculous grin that she couldn’t have hide to save her life.

“I mean a non-alcoholic drink. I don’t know, what about hot chocolate?” The small girl gave the brunette a nervous smile, shaking her head in negative. “They are away. Business slash honey moon trip.”

This time Bona really had to use a hand to cover how big her dumb smile was. Hot chocolate with Luda and no one around? If their friends heard about they would probably tease them forever, but it sounded like music to her ears.

She tried to compose herself, nodding, a little too quickly and enthusiastically. “Yes, sure, of course.” Yes, she was doing a great job at being subtle, only not.

Lee left out an airy laugh, covering up the nervousness that was tormenting her for the little time she waited for Jiyeon’s answer. She knew it was dumb, after all, they were friends and it wasn’t like she had invited her to Netflix and chill (the thought of it was enough to embarrass her to death), it would only be just a cup of warm chocolate milk and some small talk, something they had already done many times before. Yet, she couldn’t help but fear a potential rejection, therefore Bona’s lively reply was enough to make her smile.

With a new wave of confidence, the light haired girl lead the way, stopping at the door to look for her keys in her purse. It took longer than usual to find it, and even more for her to manage to open the door thanks to Bona’s stare at her back that never failed in making her nervous – But it was the good type of nervousness now, she was just too eager and thrilled for having Jiyeon all for herself even if it was only for a couple of minutes. Luda was more than aware that it was pathetic, but what crush isn’t? And she couldn’t even say it was only a simple crush either...The important thing was that it made her feel excited for the first time that night.

Turning on the lights she revealed the opulent living room decorated with all the modern furniture her parents were so proud of – Luda always thought it was more for the aesthetics than for the actual usefulness, but she would never question them. Not when it could make them realize that maybe all the family were spending too much money on useless stuff and it would include all video game consoles and technological devices that Luda kept on her room upstairs.

“Well, you can go to my room or wait here if you want. I’ll prepare something for us.” She offered, sounding as natural as possible.

Luda’s voice interrupted Jiyeon’s thoughts as she observed the house’s interior. The raven hadn’t visit the place in a while and as expected of the Lee’s everything was a bit different, except for the cute family pictures that were still displayed over the fireplace. The little Luda in the images was smiling shyly hiding under her round glasses, and in Bona’s opinion, she was absolutely adorable. Kim wondered if Luda still had her glasses.

“I’ll help you out.” She decided, following the girl to the kitchen.

For Luda’s annoyance, Bona – unnecessarily, she must say – helped her reach everything that was placed in the shelves, laughing at Luda’s pouting face. “I just want to make sure we get things done quickly,” The taller informed with a coy smile. “So we can have more time to talk. I miss spending time with you.”

The surprisingly cute answer, added to that smile, was enough to test Luda’s poor heart and make it flutter, coloring her cheeks in a light pink.  Bona hadn’t said anything much, they were friends still, yet her bright eyes were full of a warm feeling that even Lee, in her very inexperienced self, could tell meant more than only friendship. It was enough for her to smile back and make sure to finish preparing the hot chocolate faster.

With the mugs full of the burning liquid and a tray of cookies in hand, they headed to Luda’s spacious bedroom. Lee the TV, picking a sci-fi movie that was the most neutral thing she could find for them to watch, before sitting on the floor next to Jiyeon. For a while they only focused on drinking and eating, speaking only to praise Luda’s cooking skills (she actually had bought the cookies instead of baking it, so she could only smile and nod as Jiyeon went on about how good they were. The girl’s scouts would be proud) and repeat again how glad they were to be there instead of the party. They both were too insecure to try to make a move, and too tense to actually pay attention to the movie.

Jiyeon was internally screaming, at the same time self praising and cursing herself for being so bold earlier. Seeing Luda flustered was still one of her favorite things, but it also meant that she would have to keep it up for the rest of the night if she wanted to really stand a chance of…Of what? Be invited to leave the friendzone and join the girlfriend one? It seemed like a much bigger step than some harmless flirting. However, she couldn’t deny she loved how it sounded.

She reached for her bag, pulling out something that almost made the light haired girl choke on her hot chocolate.

“Oh my god! Where did you get that?” She pointed out the bottle of alcoholic beverage that Jiyeon was holding in her hands now.

“Dawonie. I wouldn’t waste my night helping her out without getting anything in exchange.” Actually, she would. However, Dawon must have noticed that Bona was already bored out of her mind and took pity of her, handing out one of her precious wine bottles to the girl as a thank you gift for helping out. It was almost a miracle that the bottle was still perfectly fine despite the fact that the brunette forgot about it for most of the night and only now recalled that it was still sitting inside her purse (luckily the cops hadn’t stopped them or else she surely would have some explaining to do).

“You are full of surprises today.” Luda said, reaching out to check the bottle’s label and confirm her suspicion that it was one of the wine bottles Dawon’s dad used to drink.

“I wasn’t planning on drinking it since I needed to drive, but now…Well, my house is only a couple of blocks away.” Bona shrugged. She wouldn’t mind walking a little bit if it meant she and Luda could have a nice time together. Of course, they could also do it sober, but she was afraid she needed the type of dumb braveness only alcohol can bring. Her fingers were literally crossed on her back as she added, “If you don’t like the idea, we don’t need to drink. I like my hot choco just fine.”

The smaller woman bite down on her bottom lip. She was never much of a drinker, she took one or two sips of her friend’s drink before and she didn’t like it at all. Furthermore, Luda wasn’t sure if drinking on Jiyeon’s presence was a good idea. What if she turned out to be one of those pathetic people that started to cry? Or worse, she decided to confess? Even the thought of it gave her chills. The logical answer was ‘no’, but she caught herself nodding positively. Bona’s expectant eyes were too difficult to resist.

“Well, it’s not like we are putting anyone at risk,” Well, she was putting her pride and pretty much all her chances of getting a girlfriend on the line. Details. “So why not?” She smiled at the girl, and the smile grew into a bright grin as Jiyeon reciprocated with a relieved look. Yes, the chances of regretting it later were huge, albeit she couldn’t care any less in the moment.

“Then let’s party!” Bona replied, already struggling to open up the bottle. In the end she had to actually go downstairs to get something to open it up, ruining completely her elegant pose and making Luda muffle a laugh. Truth be told, Jiyeon wasn’t that experienced in drinking either. Her alcohol resistance was somewhat good, but she would always drink too much to make up for it and try to feel something. Taking into account how nervous she was today, she would end up drinking all that by herself if she wasn’t careful.

As soon as they both had their cups filled with the aromatic liquid, they sat opposite each other and an awkward silence took place. Jiyeon took a sip, thankfully the wine was sweet and nice, bringing out the right amount of heat. Luda did the same, holding the glass with both hands in a cute way that matched perfectly the slightly pink tone that painted her cheeks.

“So adorable.” Bona let it slip, loud enough to be heard in the silent room. It was too soon to blame it on the drink, and she panicked as she noticed the pinky blush in Luda’s face become reddish. She took a large sip this time, trying to think about something to say and diverge the attention, however she was taken aback by Luda’s quick reply.

“Can you stop making fun of my height? You are not even that tall yourself!” Was it her or the smaller girl was even more red now.

Jiyeon opened and closed a couple of times, unsure about how she should respond to it. It was so far of what she really meant that it was almost funny – actually, it was really funny and she choked on her wine, unable to hide her laugh. She covered , coughing. “I-I’m sorry!” The laugh was still there, creeping out of her lips even though was sore due to the incident.

Luda shoved her slightly, shaking her head in disapproval. She should have known Kim was only making fun of her, it was always like that. That’s why when she heard the compliment and felt her heart trying to take off and flutter away to present itself in her eyes as well, she made sure to bury all the feelings and focus on what Bona probably really meant. She was a grown girl, being called adorable could only be a mockery, right? Well, now the laugh – Jiyeon had such a hearty laugh that she couldn’t even pretend to hate it – was confirming she had being right all along.

Lee pat her friend’s back. “That’s what you get for making fun of me after I fed you with delicious cookies.” She said with a stern look on her face, pursuing her lips tight together to avoid breaking into a laugh as she stared at Jiyeon’s flustered face.

“You…You don’t get it.” The taller girl replied, taking some deep breaths to recover from her near death experience. Dawon’s father must have cursed that wine or something. Lee was still giving her the stinky eye, but her hands on Bona’s back were gentle and warm, softly going back and forth in swift motions.

She moved a bit, in a way that she could face Luda directly. They were close enough for her to see the different shades of brown in Luda’s eyes and the blood that would rush in to her face whenever she was embarrassed. “I meant you are really adorable. Like cute and sweet and everything else.”

“I…” There wasn’t a sign of amusement in Jiyeon’s face now and Luda finally realized that she might have messes up earlier. She felt a bit guilty for being so mean earlier. “Thank you. I mean, you are too…I mean, not adorable, but cool and beautiful and…You know.” She stuttered, reaching for her cup once again, trying to hide her embarrassed face behind it.

“Good to know. I always thought of myself more like the beautiful type anyway.” It was Luda’s turn to almost choke on her drink due to the laugher. Luckily she didn’t, only giving Jiyeon a relieved smile as the atmosphere got lighter thanks to her quirk humor.

It was Jiyeon’s turn of shoving slightly the smaller girl’s shoulder. “Come on, why are we so serious all of sudden? People at the party must be wilding by now. Want to go back?”

Luda grimaced, imagining all the drunkards making out everywhere, fighting and throwing up in Dawon’s pool. Yes, she was glad she didn’t stay to see it. “You speak like you know it all too well, but I know you don’t even like parties. And of course I do not.”

Jiyeon gave shoulders. “Well, you caught me. I like parties, but I guess I prefer spending time with you.” She winked, downplaying her words as a joke.

Luda snickered at the corny remark. “You haven’t drink enough to be this flirty already.”

“Then I should drink more.” Jiyeon replied simply, making sure her glass was full again so she could honor her words. “Hm, do you want to play something? I’m not really feeling this whole cannibal alien thing going on now.” She gesture towards the TV where the movie was still playing a particularly gruesome scene where the alien had just ate the female lead’s boyfriend.

Luda made a face at the sight, she had been too distracted to even notice it. She looked over her shoulder, her eyes scanning the various game titles on the shelves. “Play what? I have some games we-“

“Truth or dare!” Bona cut off, having gulped down the wine in her glass in record speed – She was starting to feel the dumb braveness filling her up.

“With only the two of us?” Frowning, the light haired girl quickly pointed an accusatory finger to the raven. “I’m not breaking into your aunt’s house to look for her silver denture again!”

“Aish! It was ten years ago, I’m not like this anymore!”

“I was grounded for two weeks and you didn’t even come over to visit because you were scared I’d tell on you.” Lee snorted, crossing her arms in front of herself.

Bona giggled, remembering the incident. Let’s just say she wasn’t exactly an angel as a child and Luda was too naïve to avoid her schemes back then. “Okay, I admit it was a bit too much. But I meant it, I won’t ask anything weird this time. Promise!”

Lee wasn’t really convinced, still she nodded. She wasn’t a child anymore, she could simply say no – although clearly saying ‘no’ to Jiyeon wasn’t her strong point. “I’ll begin then.”

The other girl didn’t opposed, waiting patiently as the blonde thought about something to ask.

Luda sipped on her wine, she had barely touched the drink, yet she liked how sweet and different from her previous experiences with alcohol it was. She drunk more, hoping the liquid would give her courage.

So, what was going on between you and Xuan Yi? Are you guys still a thing?”

“Ei! You should ask me what I want first! And you can only ask one thing, not two.” Jiyeon nagged, taken aback. She didn’t expect her shy friend to be so direct.

“It’s to make up for the denture. If you prefer a dare, I’ll ask you to call her and ask it yourself!” Luda replied quickly, winning a baffled snort from brunette. When had her sweet girl become such a meanie?

“Your badness level is too high for your size.” Jiyeon muttered quoting one of her favorite Disney movies and hugging the wine bottle to her chest as if saying she wouldn’t share it with the girl any longer. “We were never a thing for real. We tried once, but she liked someone else, and so did I. We are still friends. End of story.”

Actually it was a bit more complicated than this, but she really didn’t want to ruin their night talking about her ex. Bona and Xuan Yi were friends ever since they met in the first year of high school, sharing a lot in common was only natural to grow close. Both were pretty, popular and loved going out shopping and drinking smoothies while complaining about all the homework they had yet to do. In theory they were a perfect match. However, love doesn’t work like that. She was already pinning after Luda back then and Xuan Yi was in no better situation, although none of them thought they could stand a chance with their respective girls.

They thought it was worth a shot, that maybe if they tried to take the next step in their relationship things could work out. Nevertheless, it only took them a week to realize that every kiss felt awkward and they had no chemistry what so ever. No matter how much they loved each other, it would never be anything more than platonic.

“Oh. I see.” Luda said low, avoiding Jiyeon’s gaze to focus on her empty cup instead. When had she drunk it all? She wasn’t sure, but she felt like she would need more of that wine to deal with the sharp pain that the girl’s answer had brought. Bona and Xuan Yi might not be a thing, but she still liked someone else, what means that all the flirting was nothing more than a joke for Jiyeon. With a quick motion, she snatched the bottle out of Bona’s arms, taking a sip directly from it. “It’s your turn. I pick dare.” There was no way she would risk having to confess her feelings after being crushed like that.

Jiyeon pouted, although she didn’t try to get the bottle back. Luda seemed as annoyed with the topic as she was. Maybe it would have been better if she had just avoided answering. Refraining from grimacing, she quickly thought of something as harmless as possible. “Do you still have your glasses? I want to see how you look with it on.” She asked, hoping the girl still had it somewhere. “Oh, and I’ll take a picture! It’s only fair I get proof, you never wear it at school.” She added, taking the opportunity of getting herself a cute picture of the girl.

Luda was still so disappointed with the previous news that she didn’t even complain about the dare, she just nodded and stood up to grab her glasses in the nightstand. Her eyesight used to be pretty bad and she hated having to wear glasses all the time, that’s why her parents agreed on letting her have a corrective surgery for it. She would probably have to repeat the process in some years, but as of now her eyesight was so much better that she could go out even without lenses. However, she still kept a spare pair of glasses that she would use at home to do homework or read.

With the glasses on, she went back to meet Bona’s large grin and her annoying dazzling eye smile. She couldn’t possibly look that bad, right? Why was the other girl giggling like that then?

“Go fast, before I change my mind.” She said, sitting on her bed instead. Luda tried to fix her hair to at least look presentable.

Jiyeon also stood up, forgetting her beloved wine bottle for a moment. She had to bite down on her bottom lip to refrain of letting out yet another amused giggle. Luda looked ridiculously cute and young with the round glasses on, it was like the pictures she had seen earlier came back to life. The fact that she also was a bit flushed due to the alcohol and still had a grumpy pout on her lips just made the scene even more endearing to her. She really wanted to touch her soft cheeks, yet she had to content herself with only touching her light hair and fixing her bangs for the picture.

Bona sat beside her, close enough for their shoulders to touch and then proceeded taking a sequence of pictures of them with her phone.  At first Luda was trying to force a smile, but as their ‘photoshoot’ went on she became a bit more relaxed. It was hard to stay mad at the girl, no matter how mischievous she was, Jiyeon had always been a charming person and Luda really didn’t have a valid reason to be annoyed when she had no rights over the other girl’s love life. Besides, her smile was so sincere that Luda couldn’t help but reattribute it, imitating the peace sign that the girl was doing. They made a couple of typical poses, including one where Jiyeon took her glasses off to use it herself.

Feeling like it was time to end the whole photographic session, Luda was about to move away from Jiyeon when the girl hugged her by the shoulder, pulling her back in to kiss her cheek loving. Her lips were soft and warm against the smaller girl’s skin, kissing her long enough to take a bunch of pictures and make Luda’s heart nearly jump out of her chest. The camera was capturing every move, showing how Bona had her eyes closed and a smile on her face, while Luda was ecstatic with a surprised, yet pleased expression. If before Luda was already wondering if she wasn’t one of the victims of the famous ‘asian glow’ now she was sure her face was burning red and it had nothing to do with drinking.

It wasn’t her plan from the beginning, really, Kim only wanted a nice picture of Luda to have as her cellphone background. The kiss was just...Just something she couldn’t bear to not do. Albeit the younger woman didn’t say anything, she could feel how tense she was the whole time and it made Bona confused and hopeful at once. Luda couldn’t possibly be mad just because of the glasses, and she noticed that her expression was a bit off earlier, so maybe, just maybe, she wasn’t mad but jealous? There was a big chance that Bona was being completely delusional, but the small probability that she was right was enough to keep a smile on her face and give her enough courage to make a move.

She had felt Luda moving and acted on impulse, hugging her tight and kissing her adorably blushed cheek before she could second guess her decision (that might or might not be affected by the fact that she had drunk more than half a bottle already).

Just like she expected Luda’s skin was the smooth against her lips, a sweet scent coming out of her and intoxicant the raven’s senses. She was so warm and tender, better than she could have imagined. Bona could bet her lips would be even softer. She totally forgot about the pictures she should be taking and it was a miracle her arm was still steady when its owner mind was fluttering miles away of there. The other girl didn’t try to break free and Bona decided she wouldn’t pull away either.

The beep of her cellphone informing that it was running out of battery was the only thing that could take them both out the trance the innocent skin ship had put them under.

The contact couldn’t have taken more than a couple of seconds, yet when Jiyeon opened her eyes up she didn’t meet Luda’s gaze. The smaller girl was too busy pretending to look for the wine bottle, when it was clear that she was just too embarrassed to face the other woman – not that Bona didn’t feel the same way, she couldn’t even check her phone for the pics afraid she had only photographed their shoes thanks to her shaky hands. It was ridiculous. How could a simple kiss in the cheek make them like this? Perhaps it was because they both knew it meant more than just a simply friendly gesture.

“You look really good with glasses, you should try it more often.” Jiyeon commented, giving a shy smile as she discreetly slip her phone back into her pocket. “Your turn now.”

Luda was still trying to (very precariously) reach the wine bottle without falling off the bed, but she somehow managed to do so, taking a sit at the edge of the mattress. “My turn? I…I don’t know what to ask.” However, she knew. Damn, her heart was screaming at her to ask Bona what the kiss meant and why she had done it if she liked someone else. However, she was too cowardly to do it. “Maybe we should watch something else.” She shrugged, taking another long sip of the wine and only then noticing that somehow they had pretty much emptied the bottle already. She was starting to consider ‘borrowing’ one of the brandy bottles that her parents kept downstairs, mayhap being close to Bona was turning her into a drunkard.

However, the said girl cut her thought line before she could managed the courage to go on and grab a new bottle.

“What? Don’t you want to continue the game and ask me who I like?” Oh boy, how bold she was being today. Jiyeon wouldn’t even need to buy a shovel, she was already digging her own grave with words.

Luda finally faced the girl, surprised with her suggestion. Bona wasn’t being subtle today and although she was somewhat tipsy, the blonde was still sober enough to tell it wasn’t only her wishful thinking in action. There was a chance that the Kim was only messing with her and would just give her some random answer instead of saying the truth, or worse, that she would actually say someone else’s name. But then, why would Jiyeon waste so much time giving her all these signals only to crash her hopes? Kim Jiyeon could be many things, but cruel wasn’t one of them.

Leaving the bottle aside, Lee tried to sit up straight. “I will ask.” She said, hoping the redness in her face had faded away and she could look even a bit confident. Perhaps she should go all out while she had the chance. So far Bona had done all the effort and it was only fair she did her part as well. If it backfired she would have two weeks to fix her broken heart before school started again and she was obligated to face the other girl.

Taking a deep breathe, she fixed her glasses at the tip of her nose in a nervous habit. Here goes nothing.

“Do you like me as more than just a friend, Jiyeon?”

It wasn’t a usual thing to see the taller girl taken aback, but she surely looked a bit shocked and flustered now. She wasn’t prepared for such a direct question. Her plan was to make a detailed, yet vague description of Lee and wait for her to comprehend her words. However, now there was no way she could play it cool and avoid answering straight away.

Bona noticed how the shorter girl’s eyes were trembling slightly, as if she was trying her best to not avert her gaze. Albeit the red glow was no longer staining her face, there was a subtle blush creeping through the tips of her ears. Luda was holding on tight to the soft fabric of her shirt, her sweat palms staining the delicate tissue – the same thing she was doing to her own jacket. They were on the same boat and it was up to her change it.

The raven haired girl pondered for a moment. The wine still left a warm feeling in her body, making her a bit light headed, but her thoughts were still clear enough. She wasn’t drunk and Luda didn’t seem like she was either. Whatever she did, that they did, that night would be all on her. She wouldn’t be able to blame the alcohol and use it as an excuse.

Slowly, Jiyeon moved, getting closer to the blonde with a shaky smile and eyes full of a determination that only being in love can bring. She reached out for the girl’s hands, holding them into her own, glad she could feel Luda’s gentle grip as well.

“If I like you? Don’t be a fool, shortie.” She said, letting out a nervous airy laugh. “I absolutely adore you. I…I think I’m in love with you.”

In any other occasion seeing Kim Jiyeon being shy like that would make Lee laugh, but now it only made the her more fond of the girl. The raven’s gaze was sweet and bright, the dark orbs reflecting her own brown ones. Luda wasn’t sure of when her feelings for the slightly older girl started, when their friendship evolved to something more, but it didn’t matter now. It only matter how full of affection she was feeling, how her cold hands slip right into Jiyeon’s warmer ones and how nice it felt to hold them.

Luda wanted to tell her that she felt the same, that she was also in love and how happy it made her to know the feelings were mutual. But words didn’t seem enough for that moment, not when she had waited for so long and thought it could never happen. Maybe she was being too impulsive, maybe the wine had given her more than the Asian flush but also some dumb drunk braveness, whatever the reason was, she decided to follow her heart.

And her heart was telling her to kiss Bona like she always wanted. So she did it.

Lee leaned in for the kiss, her eyes fluttering shut as her pink lips touched Bona’s soft ones.  More than just the smooth lips under hers, she also felt the warm breath against her face and the gentle scent of roses of the girl’s hair. At first Jiyeon didn’t react, only Luda gently peeking her lips and her hands still holding hers. The lack of response almost discouraged the blonde, however soon she felt Bona’s lips raise into a smile as she loose the grip on Luda’s hands to hug her instead. Soon Jiyeon’s hand were around her waist, bringing her even closer as their lips starting to move in sync, deepening the contact. Her mind was soon overwhelmed by the sensations that the kiss brought, the small goosebumps spreading through her body, making her even more sensitive to every touch. Her heart was beating so fast against her ribcage that it was hard for her to believe that Jiyeon couldn’t hear it; her breath becoming unsteady as the rhythm of the kiss grew faster.

Gods, she loved that girl and she had no idea how she had been able to stay away for so long.

Bona wasn’t expecting it, but it didn’t mean it wasn’t a good surprise. She could already feel the taste of cherry that Luda’s lips had brushing against hers shyly. She moved her head to the side, giving herself better access to them and smiling as Luda’s breath became a little faster as she felt her hug. She always thought Luda’s was adorable with her petite body and beautiful features, now holding her into her arms, she felt like she fitted perfectly as if it was the place where she belonged – Jiyeon wished it was. If with other girls she was worried the chemistry wasn’t there, with Lee it was quite the opposite. She was feeling so many things at once that it made her a bit dizzy, however it only made her clingy even more to the smaller girl, to the point where she was pretty much on her lap now.

Jiyeon’s tongue gently brushed against her bottom lip, asking for entry that was almost instantly granted. Luda left out a pleasured groan as she felt Jiyeon exploring slowly. Her hands that had been resting on the brunette’s shoulders went up to hug her by the neck, one of Luda’s hand travelling through Bona’s black hair. She had never kissed someone like that – actually she had never kissed anyone at all, but she didn’t need to, to know it wasn’t your average kiss. An average kiss wouldn’t make her feel like every inch of her body was vibrating with love and glee, like if she had waited her whole life for this moment and now that it was here, it was better than anything that she could’ve imagined. She just wanted to be closer and closer to Jiyeon, not only physically but also in a spiritual level.

Luda just wanted her heart to be able to reach Jiyeon. And it did.

Jiyeon broke the contact for a moment, her breath still irregular as she tried to reach for air. She leaned her forehead against Luda’s and for a moment they only stared at each with eyes full of love and care. “You have the best way of confessing.” She finally said, a smile on her lips as she gave the blonde a peck on the cheek.

Luda hugged her tighter, returning the smile. “I thought you liked surprises.”

With a snicker, Bona nodded. “Only the good ones, Luda. And I don’t mind if they might be a bit small.” She teased, nuzzling into Luda’s neck before the girl could protest. Not that the other girl felt like bickering now, her heads still in the clouds.

Luda combed her fingers through Jiyeon’s hair, prompting her to lift her head and meet her halfway for another kiss.

Jiyeon wasn’t sure what time it was when she finally woke up in the next morning, the bright sun light reaching her face and making her try to hide her face on the pillow – Only that her face didn’t meet the fluffy white pillow, instead it found a patch of warm and smooth skin and blonde hair. Luda.

Blinking, she realized she wasn’t surrounded by thick blankets, but Luda’s small frame pressed against her as Jiyeon hugged the girl to her chest. A happy grin made its way to her face, the girl closing her eyes once more to feel again the unique feeling of sleeping next to her favorite girl, Lee Luda.

She had to cover to refrain from squealing as the memories of the last night filled her mind. After their first kiss, they had talked a bit, but mostly just enjoyed each other’s company, and by enjoying she meant kissing each other until their mouths were nearly numb and they both agreed was too soon to take it to the next level.  The wine was getting to both of them, so they decided to go to sleep and after a couple of awkward minutes discussing who would use the bed, they agreed on sleeping on the bed together – none of them wanted to stay away of the other and formalities looked pretty dumb in the moment. Luda changed into her nerdy pajamas, Jiyeon was probably even more whipped than she first thought, otherwise she would have laughed her lungs out at the sight instead of finding it cute. The smaller girl pretty much forced Bona on another equally embarrassing nightgown – Bona tried to argue that she would be fine with an oversized shirt, but turns out the difference in height was so big that even Lee’s oversized shirts still looked rather short in the other girl.

Jiyeon rested her weight on an elbow, stealing a glance at Luda’s sleeping face. The girl slept peacefully, her face slightly puffed and her lips parted gently to let out the air as she breathed. It was such a lovely view that Bona couldn’t help but want to wake her up with kisses, and she wouldn’t mind if it was like this for the rest of her life.

Xuan Yi and Dawon would cringe nonstop if they could see her now.

She muffled a giggle, leaning in to kiss her girlfriend’s – she hoped that it was what they were now– cheeks, however a loud noise followed by a series of others, made her jump out of the bed.

It sounded awfully like footsteps and voices. It sounded like Luda’s parents voices. The loud sound she heard before must have been Mr. Lee always clumsy self letting the baggage fall down while trying to get it inside the house.

She was screwed. Better saying, they were screwed.

“Luda! Lee Luda! Wake up!” She called quietly afraid the Lee’s could hear them, shaking the girl by the shoulder and trying to be as gentle as her panicked state allowed her to be. “Luda come on! I need your help to get out!”

Luda heard Jiyeon’s voice from afar, too deep into her sleep to acknowledge it until the other woman literally shake her off of her dreams. She looked at Bona through narrow eyes, still trying to adapt to the sudden clarity. Luda had never been a morning person. More likely an early afternoon person. “Jiyeon, let me sleep. We don’t have school today.” She said, her brain failing to register the panic on the raven haired girl’s face.

But it only took one simple phrase to have her completely woken up.

“Your parents are here!”

Letting out a muffled scream, Luda jumped off the bed. “Wait, what? They weren’t supposed to come home until night!”

“And how am I supposed to know?” Jiyeon replied, her voice sounding higher than usual thanks to the urgency of the situation. She was struggling to remember where she had left her clothes and her car keys, walking around the room like a dizzy insect. “I just need to leave before they notice I was here…Oh my god, my car! Did I park it in front of the house?”

The girl’s exchanged a glance and Luda had to refrain from screaming for the second time that morning.

The blonde found Bona’s clothes, giving it to her and panicking as the girl started to change right there – what was rather dumb considering they had seen each other change many times already, but her brain wasn’t working well that morning. In fact, neither of their brains was. Otherwise they would have concluded that Bona sleeping over wasn’t a big deal, after all the girl had slept over before and there was no way that her parents could know they did anything other than watch movies and eat junk food. Perhaps the only thing that could earn her a scolding was the empty bottle of wine, ironically it was the one thing they had forgotten about.

When Bona was properly dressed, car keys in hand and an uneasy smile on her face, they decided they were good to go. They considered having her jump off the window using a tree for support, however even in their dumb hangover state, they could recognize it was a terrible idea. So, the plan was for Luda to sneak her out of the house as quietly as possible and pray that her parents didn’t decide to come downstairs.

The blonde stopped by the door, holding the handle but didn’t turning it. When they went to sleep the night before, it was between kisses and good night wishes. It didn’t seem right that their first morning together would be spent with them running around the room in complete chaos and acting like kids that were caught doing something wrong. She refused to let things end up like that.

Gathering all her courage, she turned around to face the dark haired girl. “No rush. If mom and dad see us, I will just…Just tell them you came over to keep me company and we will have breakfast together, okay?” Finally her rational side was kicking in, reminding her that her parents had always liked Jiyeon and it wouldn’t change now. She was glad to have Kim there with her and she didn’t want to hide it.

Her calm tone seem to get to Jiyeon, making the girl nod with a small smile, the first sincere one she showed that morning. Luda offered her free hand and soon they had their fingers intertwined, with a final squeeze she finally open up the door.

Their panic previously was unneeded. Luda’s parents were nowhere to be seen, and by the sounds that could be heard in the hallway, they both were in deep sleep, leaving only an unorganized pile of baggage in the middle of the living room – typical. The girls sighed in relief.

They stopped by the front door, exchanging a look.

Jiyeon had to hurry, her family would be leaving the country that night and she hadn’t even packed yet. However, she didn’t wanted to leave Luda behind.

“I have to…”

“You should…”

They laughed. The morning was ending just like their night had begun. Luda signalized for Bona to speak first.

“My family always travels at this time of the year, you know. I’ll probably only be back when school starts.” She announced with a grimace. They had just taken one step in the right direction and here she was, pretty much killing their nearly born relationship. Jiyeon feared the effects that time could have on them, she didn’t want things to become awkward and weird again, she wanted to give them the chance of develop that connection into something lasting.

Luda must have noticed how upset she was, because the next thing the girl did was to give her the sweetest smile and hug her by the neck, resting her face on her shoulder. “I know it, Jiyeon. Just text me when you get home safely. Two weeks is not that long.” She pulled back a bit to face the brunette, her smile was still there, but Bona could see the glimpse of insecurity in her eyes. Lee was trying to be strong for them, noticing it only made Bona grow even more fond of the other woman.

“I’ll. And I will also text you every day.” She promised, leaning in to give her a soft kiss on the lips. “And call.” Another kiss. “And send pictures and buy you gifts so you can feel like you were there with me.” A couple more of pecks, distributed on the girl’s face and jaw making her giggle.

Luda covered Bona’s mouth, trying to stop her. She was about to burst into a hearty laugh, one that was born from the reassurance that Jiyeon had just given her and the fact that all the kisses were starting to tickling her sensitive skin. To know it wasn’t the ending of them was enough to make her smile and wait patiently until the time they would meet again.

“And I’ll be waiting.” It was her turn to pull the girl in for a kiss. The contact was longer this time, as she tried to put into the kiss all her feelings and Jiyeon did the same. She melted against the girl, but Bona’s reliable arms were there to catch her. They separated with yet another dozen of pecks, both unwilling of letting go, but ultimately doing it.

Luda fixed Jiyeon’s hair carefully, before stepping away to open the door and give the girl space to get out.

“Hurry up, I don’t want your parents to scold you and think I’m a bad influence!” She said, giving her an encouraging smile.

Bona muffled a laugh, kissing her lips one last time before bidding her farewell and run to her car that was still parked at the other side of the street.

She didn’t plan on spending a perfect night with her perfect girl, but here she was now. Once in a while her terrible habit of acting before thinking proved useful.

Jiyeon’s naughty side was rejoicing while her more responsible one was wondering how she would explain to her parents that she couldn’t drive herself home last night because she was too tipsy. Well, she could only wish they would ground her this way she could avoid the family trip and stay with her girlfriend instead. The idea was dumb and would never happen, but it was enough to make her giggle to herself as she entered the car.

Luda watched Jiyeon make her way to the red vehicle and smiled. Perhaps she was soft for Kim Jiyeon.

Luda played with her backpack’s strap, her foot hitting the ground bellow repeatedly showing her nervousness. Her friends had asked her several times in the last couple of days if there was something wrong and she would only deny with a smile, although she was starting to wonder the same.

During the last two weeks she had spoken with Jiyeon every day, the brunette keeping her word and bombarding her with pictures and messages about every little thing. They would even facetime once in a while. However, during this period none of them had tried to set things straight and define what they were now. That’s why she hadn’t told their friends about it yet, and by the fact that no one had said anything, she knew Bona hadn’t either.

Today was their first day back at school and she was unlucky enough to be one of the kids that still had to take the bus, instead of driving – what was technically her fault, considering she never had much interest in learning and her parents, as usual, just let her do whatever she wanted.  Lee was feeling so uneasy that she woke up before her alarm and left for school way too early, making her way to the empty bus stop.

It was foolish. Bona was the type that was always fashionably late, therefore she didn’t have any hopes in seeing her before class.

With a sigh, she buried her hands into her jacket’s pockets and hoped that the bus wouldn’t take too long to come.

“Lee Luda! I waited for you for whole ten minutes in front of your house until your mom told me you left earlier and didn’t even take your phone with you!” The familiar voice took her by surprise, making her turn her head a bit too fast to face Bona’s dazzling smile. She groaned as a sharp pain crossed her neck, ruining the beautiful expression she had trained to present to the raven.

The taller girl shook her head in disapproval, reaching out to massage Luda’s neck with her left hand.

She had made a big effort by waking up early and skipping breakfast, so she could pick Luda up and they could grab coffee on the way to the school. The truth was that Bona had barely controlled her need of seeing her girlfriend and almost went to her house last night – she didn’t because she was pretty much crushed from the long trip and afraid she would scare the blonde off if she just showed up unannounced at her door step. So she had planned it all, but apparently not telling the girl beforehand was a mistake.

“Are you okay?” Jiyeon asked, still massaging the girl’s stiff neck and receiving a clumsy smile in return. Bona took her hand off, waiting for a proper greeting. She missed Luda and missed touching her, but still she needed to know where they were standing for the girl.

“I’m fine. Sorry, I hadn’t realize I didn’t have my phone on me until now.” There it was again, the clumsy smile that was both cute and worrying at the same time.

The blonde took a good look at the older girl. Kim looked as gorgeous as always, her porcelain like skin now had a health tan to it, thanks to spending the last weeks in a hot country, it matched perfectly her dark hair. However, the unreadable expression on her face wasn’t something that Lee was used to see, but considering their situation it wasn’t a surprise.

“How was your trip?” She tried, feeling shy all of sudden.

Jiyeon snorted, rolling her eyes. “Can’t I have a welcome hug first? Or maybe a kiss, I think des-“

Luda didn’t let her finish, it was all that she needed to hear. She only needed a confirmation that things were still the same, that the Jiyeon that kissed her two weeks ago was still the same girl standing in front of her now. Throwing herself into Bona’s arms, she kissed her passionately. “I missed you so much!”

Bona smirked, kissing her back and lifting her off the ground so they could be at the same level. “Are you saying this because you really love me or just because you figured I bought you a whole box of chocolates?” She teased, laughing wholehearted and kissing the blonde lightly. “I missed you too, Lulu.”

Luda had never liked that nickname, but there was something about the way it sounded when Jiyeon said it that made her heart warm, so she couldn’t bring herself to scold her for using it. She nuzzled her face into the crook of brunette’s neck, appreciating the rose scent that her thick clothes couldn’t hide. “You really love surprises, tsc.” She clicked her tongue, kissing Jiyeon’s neck quickly before pulling away. “We should get going if we want to see the girls before class.”

Jiyeon grinned, wiggling her eyebrows with a snob smile. “You can’t wait to show me off, can you?” She asked in her usual teasing tone, already dragging Luda towards her car.

The light haired girl glanced at her, taking in a sit in the car. “Why? You don’t want to be seen with me?”

“Now this, Lee Luda, is the one thing I want the most…After kissing you.” She gave her one of her playful winks, winning a light smack on the shoulder and a light blush of the blonde girl.

“Sweet talker.” Luda muttered, yet a smile had made its way to her lips as she watched Jiyeon starting driving.

“But first let’s grab something to eat!”

For Luda’s surprise and Jiyeon absolute pride, they didn’t arrive late at school. However, both had their faces flushed, pink frosting staining their lips. They carried two large cups of coffee and a box full of donuts still untouched, except for the pink one that sustained a small bite on it.

It didn’t take a genius to know that the girls hadn’t properly eaten yet, too busy with what Jiyeon liked to call ‘higher priorities’. Their friends, all eleven smart and playful girls, didn’t waste the chance and had a field day making fun of the new couple every opportunity they had.

Luda was not a fan of this kind of attention, but she didn’t complain even once, and neither did Bona. After all, a little teasing wasn’t a big price to pay if they had each other.
