Ten Years Ago

The young boy stood there, his brown hair blowing in the wind, waiting patiently.

This was their usual meetup place, as usual, he had turned up earlier.

She hated it when people were late.

He laughed to himself when he glanced at his watch, he was ten minutes early.

"Oh you of little faith." he began to sing softly to himself.

He remembered when he first bumped into her, when he was eight and she five.

Her eyes, that sparkled like the stars at night, had caught his gaze.

His dongsaeng Seo Joohyun.

He muttered to himself, pacing the floor as he waited, glancing at his watch.

It was supposed to be their second annual meeting.

They promised to meet each other here, at this spot, every year.

So where was she?

An hour passed, three hourse went by until it was evening and there was no sight of her.

He walked home in a bad mood.  They had just spoken on the phone the day before promising to meet.

Even when he called her house, no one picked up.

After a week since that fateful day, he gave up calling and threw himself into his schoolwork.

Anything, anything to make him forget her, to forget the pain.

But what he didn't know was that on that very day of their meeting, an accident had occurred.

She was lying semi-conscious, in her parents' arms who had crawled to her as paramedics swarmed around the area.
