“She lost her fight.” The doctor told him.

 

“What is that supposed to mean?” Jungkook tried to sit on the bed but because of his surgery, his body was weak and frail. He was looking for Alia. They became close while being treated at the hospital. They both have heart conditions that just keeps getting worse as days go by.

 

Meeting her was something he was always grateful. Despite their conditions,  she was the stronger one that kept him going. “Where is she?” Jungkook repeated the question.

 

The doctor sighed. “You need to rest first. I will tell you all the details soon.” He injected something in his arm and after a while, his eyes felt so heavy.

“Alia?” he blurted at the sight of a girl. She turned and smiled at him. “It is you.” He said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Alia!” he exclaimed waking up from his dream. He sat up and wiped his tears. It’s been three days after his operation and his doctor is still not telling him how was she. He just wanted to see her so badly and tell her that his heart transplant was successful.

 

Now that he was given another chance in life,  he promised himself to confess to her. That he can now take good care of her. He cannot wait to just hug her and tell her how much he loves her,  he would do anything for her.

 

The doctor comes in after he was done eating. “How are you doing?”

 

“Great. Can I know which is Alia’s room? I haven’t seen her in three days.”

 

His doctor looks at the nurse and nods at her,  after a while, there were just the both of them left in the room. “Jungkook, I don’t know how will you take this.” The doctor paused trying to find the right words. “Jungkook, Alia has been through a lot,  she became stronger especially when she met you. You knew she’s an orphan  right?” Jungkook nodded. “You were the only person she had. You made her special in a way and that made her very happy.”

 

“Why are you telling me all this?”

 

“Jungkook,  Alia never told you that she was living in a time frame. Unlike you,  her condition got worse to a point where we can’t cure it. This is confidential, but telling you this can make you understand more.” Jungkook didn’t say anything. “The day of your surgery was the day Alia died.”

 

Jungkook was so shocked that he couldn’t even find the words to say. Slowly, he felt pain arise in his chest. He clutched his chest and tried to breathe normally. “What did you say?”

 

“Jungkook, the heart inside you is Alia’s.”

 

He froze. “Wh- what did you say?” he wasn’t sure if he heard it right. “My heart?”

 

“Alia lost her life at the same time you were about to lose yours. It’s her heart that is inside of you right now.”

 

Tears just automatically escaped from his eyes. He clutched his chest feeling the beat of his heart.  Alia’s heart. “She told me to give you.” The doctor handed him a folded paper before leaving him in the door.

 

Jungkook stared at the paper for a long time. He didn’t want to read whatever is written on it because it was hard. He didn’t know if he can take it.

 

              I’m sorry! When you receive this letter that means I’m already gone. I’m so sorry I wasn’t totally honest with you. But all the times we’ve shared together were my favorite moments in my life. I don’t know if you know this but for once in my life,  I was lucky enough to meet a person like you.

 

 

 

 

 

Jungkook cried harder. His world turned upside down. “I love you too Alia!” he yelled. He didn’t even have the chance to say those words to her personally. “I always will.” He whispers as he kneels on the floor hugging the last memory of her.
