His Happiness

Hanbin sighed.

Sitting on the couch in the hospital waiting room, his mind recalled the memory they shared in the past.

They were lying on the green grass while watching the blue skies, the sun shined hitting her pretty face.

Her head on his chest.

“The skies are beautiful.” She suddenly said.

Compared with your cat eyes, cute nose, chubby cheeks and pouty lips, the skies are absolutely nothing..

“I’m glad you’re here.” She continued then snuggled to his chest, burrying her head there.

Tightening the hug, he smiled.

Hanbin smiled as he remembering that sweet moment, they were so young and innocent and happy.

She was the girl he loved the most.

Kim Jennie

The woman who always filled his dream every single night.

And the girl that her smile always he wanted to see first thing in the morning when he wake up.

The woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

A scream

Hanbin startled and immediately stood up as he heard a scream coming from the room.

It was hers, her scream, scream in pain that he never wanted to hear from her.

But at the same time the scream she let out with proud.

The scream was the beginning of her now new journey.

“Hanbin, I’m pregnant, I’m going to be the happiest woman in the world.”

In excitement, she gave him a hug, a tight and warm hug.

He hugged her back tightly as if he didn’t want to lose her.

And he really didn’t want to lose her.

His heart was beating in nerves.

30 minutes later, Hanbin was still in waiting room.

The scream of pain he heard before was replaced with the laugh and sound of congratulations.

He smiled.

“Mr. Kim you can enter the room.” The nurse who came up from the room said, smiling.

He felt his body can’t be moved, too heavy to stand up.

But he made it to the room anyway.

His heart was beating rapidly, uncontrolably.

When Hanbin arrived, his eyes automatically spotted her.

There she was, lying on the bed.

Sweaty yet beautiful.

As always.

Her browned cat eyes were still charismatic and bright though they looked so tired.

Her pink pouty lips were still tempting for him to kiss.

Her chubby cheeks still somehow made her looked so cute.

Her brown hair was still pretty though it was wet with the sweat,

Her creamy fair skin.

Gosh.

No one can resist her beauty.

She was a  Goddess.

NO.

To him, even Goddess can’t compare her perfection.

And suddenly, he felt like flying.

The gravitation can’t hold him to stay on earth.

But something hold him to stay, like the strong rope that tied on his legs.

And it was also her.

“Hanbin...” That angelic voice.

Hanbin came closer to her.

She smiled.

How he loved that smile.

He lowered down and kissed her forehead.

A little baby in her arms suddenly cried.

She smiled as she comforted her baby.

He looked at the baby.

He didn’t know if the baby was a boy or a girl.

“The baby is a boy, Hanbin” She suddenly answered the question in his head.

She always knew what he was thinking about.

He smiled.

She smiled back.

He gently caressed the baby’s head, admiring how beautiful he was.

Just like his mom.

The baby suddenly smiled.

His eyes were beautiful.

“Look Hanbin, he smiled. He likes you” He smiled and caressed the baby’s cheek.

He looked at her eyes demanding to hold the baby.

She smiled and released the grip from the baby.

He took the baby gently from his mother and placed him in his arms.

He noticed the name on the baby’s clothes.

The baby now sleeping on his arms.

“I Love you, Hanbin.” She suddenly said with her serious voice.

And how I wished that was enough, Jen.

He said it inside.

“You are my Knight, Hanbin. You always helped me when some kids bullied me in the elementary school. You always treated me food when I cried. You always helped me doing my homework when we in high school. Always helped me to face my parents by lying to them when I went on date. And now you’re here when I faced the crucial moment in my life. You always happy when I happy and cried when I felt pain. Thanks Hanbin for being my best friend.”

He smiled.

Again.

How he wished that was enough,

Enough to be her lover instead of her best friend,

Enough to make her love him more

How he wished he was the one who went with her on her first date.

How he wished he was the one who called and texted her every night to sleep.

How he wished he was the one who she shared her first kiss with.

How he wished he was the one who kneeled down and proposed her to become a wife.

How he wished he was the one who waiting for her at the altar and watching her walking beautifully on the aisle.

How he wished he was the one who touched and claimed her for the first time.

How he wished he was the one who she shared the kisses and the hugs everyday.

And how he wished he was the father of the baby in his arms right now, her baby.

But he wasn’t.

He wasn’t even that guy in the first place.

He was just the best friend,

The best friend that keeping the feeling of loving her more than a best friend for more than 15 years.

The best friend that scared of loosing her though she wasn’t even his.

The best friend that loved her unconditionally and irrevocably

“He is so beautiful, Jen.” That was the first words that came from him.

Chapter 1: This was really well done. Unrequited love seems to be a common theme with Hanbin :(
