Chapter 1:

Daydream:

Ryle waves the half-heart shaped made of paper. He walked up to the stage and snatch the emcee's microphone.

"Juliet, where art thou? Come to me, my love!"

The auditorium is covered by screams and shouts of ladies and even gays who hopes to get the other half- hearted shape paper of Ryle Min. However, like a withered leaves, one by one,the hopeful crowds left the stage with disappointments.

 "Is that it?" Ryle said, and looks at the teacher emcee. "Miss?" confused but still having an innocent and cute look on his face. The crowds been silent and music starts to sad.

"You must have missed it," teacher said to Ryle. "Let's do it again---wait." 

Ryle glance to the left side of stage, under the large speakers and barely hit by the light of the disco ball. 

"Let me see that ,Miss. Come up here, don't be shy."

Lisa slowly lift the half paper-heart she's holding. She start to walk up to the stage. while Ryle whom can't wait, run towards her. They meet on the half-way of the stairs.

The music and disco ball has been stop. Audiences are holding their breathe while watching the two.

Ryle matched their each halves of paper hearts.

"It's you," Ryle whispered when the hearts are matched. "I thought, I would not be able to find you."

"N-now that you've found me..." Lisa says with shaky voice and teary eyes.

"I won't let you go." Ryle slowly bows his head while Lisa slowly looking up until their lips connects to each other.

Reality:

"Is that it?! Why is my paper heart doesn't seems to have a partner?!" Jun rant in disbelief. He even blocks one of his teacher while his batchmates had already have found their partners and some are already dancing. "Miss, you purposedly did this, don't you?"

"She must've left already". said by the teacher while pointing the half-paper heart Jun is holding. While she was turning she almost hit Lisa whom starting to clean the mess in the auditorium.

"I'm sorry miss" Lisa said.

Of what she's holding got the teacher's attention.

"Where'd you get that?" the teacher ask.

"Uhm under the table there while I'm cleaning'' Lisa said.

"That might be the other half of your heart Mr. Kim"

"Let me see". Jun gets the half-heart Lis were holding and glued it together. It matched. "Shi-eeeeet! You're the lucky girl." He folds the completed paper heart and dunk it on the trash bag that Lisa were holding. "Come on, Let's dance."

" I can't, I have work to do" Lisa refuses.

" The party is still not over and you are already cleaning?. That's bad." Jun waves his forefinger at her face. "A very bad manners."

"I'm cleaning so that my father and I could get home early and besides, sophomores are not part of JS prom" Lisa explains.

"I will take care of it. Let's just do a quick dance" Jun grabs her hand and pull her towards the middle of the dance floor.

"What happened bro?" asked by his friend.

"Lisa got the jackpot" Jun smiles and seems to not care that his partner is just a daughter of a janitor

Lisa wears only plain T-shirt and cut overused pants. She's just there to do her duties as a scholar of the school. So she's in great disagreement when Jun is asking her to dance,but what's the point?. Jun is great in persuading people.

"Follow my lead,okay?" Jun said.

"What's your shampoo? Do you even use shampoo? Jun ask randomly.

"Of course" Lisa replied.

"Then why it's still stink?"

"Leave my hair alone. It does not do you any harm"

"It does. It's making me high" Jun laugh while acting like on drugs.

Lisa just rolled her eyes and glance at her right. Catching the sight Ryle dancing with another girl. Her Illusion got crumbled the moment she saw that Ryle is smiling to the girl he's dancing.

"Who are you looking at?" Jun ask while following the direction where Lisa is looking.

"Ryle Min?! Is he your type?." Jun ask in deep curiosity.

Lisa just lower her head and doesn't replied.

"He's a haughty though" Jun commented.

"No, He's not!" Lisa defending her crush.

"You do like him huh?. Want me to help you?"

"Forget it"

"You don't believe me? It's a piece of cake for me"

"How?" Lisa looked at him seriously.

Jun laugh. "What made you to like him?. I mean he's a braggart" continous to laugh.

"I said, that he's not. Just because he--."

"Fine, If you really want him then make a move. and make it as soon as possible"

"Why?"

"Ryle is leaving after the graduation. He might even won't march. His family are going to migrate to US and he might just continue his studies there. And proof to that is they already sold their house and cars"

"What?" Lisa is shocked. "H-he's not coming back?"

"Possibly"

"Why?"

"Don't ask me. Ask him" 

"How? He don't even notice me or know me and, I'm shy even just looking at him. I can't even approach him because he's always been---busy." In books. Whenever Lisa see Ryle at the campus, he always read. Ryle is thin, wears a large nerdy glass, pale skin, and favorite of bullies. At first, Lisa pitied Ryle but later on she realize that she's falling for him. In her mind they are similar. Not popular.

Lisa is a daughter of a janitor. She can't attend the prestigous school if not because of her scholarship. She doesn't also have what she can call friends. Like Ryle, She's always alone reading books for the sake of maintaning her grades.

"Tomorrow, come to my house" Jun said.

"What?"

"Surprised as always?" Jun laugh.

"Erh.. Why would I go to your house? I don't even know the way there"

"I'll give you my address and just take a taxi to get there. Tell the guard that I invited you to our Valentine concert. Our band will jam there and I'll also invite Ryle to be there and introduce you two to each other"

"Am I allowed to be there?"

"Why not?"

"Uhm... I'm not rich like you"

"You are, maybe not in money but in dandruffs" Jun laughs again.

"Why are you inviting me?" Lisa ask. Lisa and Jun are not friends and not even a classmate because Jun is a graduating student, while her is still a sophomore in highschool. They only know each other because---there's not a single person in school that Jerry doesn't know.

"I told you already. I'll help you with Ryle"

She can't trust him. Though Jun doesn't  treat her in a bad way, She's still in doubt. She might just get caught on the pranks of Jun and his friends.

"I have a debt to Sir Boss," He meant Lisa's father. "Sir Boss" is what the students or teacher in school calls her father. "I am responsible of breaking the glass of bulletin board the other week . Sir Boss is the only person who saw what happened but he doesn't sold me out. So, I had your back,okay?"

Daydream:

I HEARTFULLY dedicate this song to my dear friends, Lisa Manoban and Ryle Min! I wish you all the best, my friends!" Jun strum his guitar. "I found the love..."

Ryle nervously looks at Lisa and smiled.

"Uh,s-shall we .... uhm ... may I dance with you?"

"Yes! I mean, s-sure." Lisa is also nervous but she can't miss this chance to dance with Ryle. She reach her hands to his. He then took Lisa to the dance floor. He puts her hands to his shoulder. 

"It's a good choice to come here" Ryle said.

"Why? You don't like parties?"

"Yup, I prefer to stay at my house. Jerry just convinced me to come. And... I'm really glad I came. I-it's because that you're here."

"Wh-what do you mean,Ryle?" Lisa caught off guard.

"I always notice you in school, it's just that I don't have a courage to approach you."

"W-why?" Lisa's heart wants to explode in her chest.

"Your father might get mad and already in my senior year..." He paused. "Have I said something wrong?"

"Nothing. I just remembered. Jerry told me that you're leaving for US and might not come back"

"I'll just continue and finish my studies there. After that, I'll return  here." Ryle leans closer to her ears. "I'll come back,Lisa ,if ---"

"If what?" Lisa looking at his eyes.

"If you can wait for me"

Lisa hugs him. "I can."

And Jun continuos to sing. "Dancing in the dark with you between my arms.."

Reality:

"WHEN I was a young my father took me into the city to see a marching band. He said someday, you'll grow up..."

Although Lisa don't have an ear for music, she could tell that there's no future waiting for person whose screaming his lungs out on stage. And ... there she thought that Jun will be the vocalist of the band. He's just a drummer and a minute more of listening to them will make Lisa's eardrum explode.

"... and join the black parade!" screams by the slim singer. He's even thinner to Ryle, with spike hair, and eyeliner".

Before the concert even begun, Lisa was already there. She look like a fool standing there because no one is approaching her or talk to her. Jun and his bandmates are busy setting up the stage in basketball court.

Basketball court!. She expects that the event will be held in a fancy place like a clubhouse. Where there's a swimming pool, a formal table set-up, and people are dressed formally. That's why Lisa wears her "most" formal dress and borrowed a silver sandals from her friend. 

Different from what she expects, the basketball court doesn't even have chairs. So she just leans herself on the wall near the stage and wanders her attention to the group of crowd. Most are acquainted to Jun and joking around the band. Most of them are wearing black. Black T-shirt, Black jeans, and black rubber shoes and boots. That's why most of them are gossiping about Lisa whose the only one wearing yellow and a dress to top it. A sleeveless A-line dress through her knees and buttons from her neck to skirt.

There are some who glance and smiled at her but most of them don't give a damn about her.The basketball court are are jam-packed and the concert has just only begun but Lisa is already tired and hungry. Lisa is also sweating like hell for it is too hot inside the court.

At last, the irritating song number had ended. The singer greets the audience whose voice is already sore because of those shout and scream which Lisa can't even call singing. She took that oppurtunity to get near on the left side of the stage where the drummer is located.

"Pssst, Jun! Hey!" shout him to Jun. "Pssssst! Hey!

Jun notice her. "What?"

"I'll go home" Lisa shouted.

because of the crowd and the singer still shouting to hype the crowd Jun stand and approach at the edge of the stage and squats in front of Lisa.

"What's the problem?"

"I'll just go home. I think he will not come"

"He'll come, just wait there." and Jun stands.

"Hey! Jun!" 

"Relax! okay?" Jun smiled and went back to his position.

"I'd like to sing this song to the lady in yellow," shout by the vocalist. "Miss---"

Lisa is stunned. "Is he talking about me?" ask on herself.

"Yes you." the vocalist even went down, holds her waist and pulls her towards the stage.

"I don---!!"

But the electric guitar starts to eer and even Jun beat his drums while smiling. The crowd are cheering but she felt that it is just their way to play a prank on her. As she step to climb the stage with the singer , she felt that something happened on her feet.

The sole of sandals got snapped.

 

The vocalist paused. "What happened to your..." He laughs and let go her waist to get the sandals and waves it to the crowd.

The straps are even still tied in Lisa's feet.

"Anyone there with super glue? ask by the vocalist to the laughing audiences. "It is deeply needed by Miss--- What is your name, Miss?" 

"Cinderella," she replied while taking off the other pair of sandal for her to stand well. Lisa is sweating cold because of embarrassment but she don't have an intention to show it.

The vocalist laughs even more. "I like you. You're funny." and lifts the sandal he's holding signalling Lisa for a high-five. Lisa just go with it and use the other sandal she's holding and high-fived it to the vocalist.

As Lisa looks on the crowd she notice a man wearing a light blue sweat shirt.

It's Ryle.

but the vocalist doesn't let go her , then sings to her the song "Sweet Child O' Mine."

Lisa can't help but covers her ears.

Juns band ended their numbers and the other band is starting to set up their instruments.

Jun come nearer to Lisa beside the wall. "You don't want to approach him? Tss You're a weakling after all" 

"How? My shoes are wrecked" shows the sandlas to him.

Jerry smirked. "Then why would you wear frail things? "It's fortunate that you didn't fall earlier"

"It's not my fault. I only borrowed it"

"You don't have shoes?"

"I do. A pair of school shoes and a pair for PE"

"Nevermind that. Let's go to Ryle. I'll come with you." Jun winks at her.

"Can't you see? I'm barefooted. It's embarrassing."

"It's fine, it is the mouth,eyes, and ears used in talking not feet." then Jun dragged her towards the location of Ryle. Besides Ryle is a tall, slim,and white woman who looks like a Korean.

"Hi Jun." the woman greets Jun.

"Hi." Jun replied awkwardly. "It's been a long time, Nance? You look prettier."

"I know right? and laughs flirtatiously.

"By the way this is Lisa. Lisa, this is Nancy,sister of Ryle"

"Hi." greets her by the woman but the focus is in her barefoot.

Lisa wants to hide under the ground because of the embarrassment.

"Ah, Ryle, Lisa, you know her right? She's our schoolmate," Jun said.

Ryle nods. "Yeah, I know her. She's Sir Boss's daughter right?"

"Ah y-yeah." Lisa answered.

"Who's Sir boss?" asked by her sister.

"Our school's janitor."

"Ah." Nancy nods.

"Let's go outside, it's sure hot in here" Jun suggested.

"Sure." Nancy agrees while Jun is leading them to the exit. Lisa heard Jun and Nancy talking while they're on there way out.

"Ho-- uhm H-how are y-you, Ryle?" Lisa crack her voice a bit because of nervous. She's in the little back of Ryle.

"F-fine." a short response to her because it's true that Ryle is a shy guy. The problem is, Lisa feels that Ryle is avoiding her not because of his shyness. But because Ryle don't want to be near with her.

They stopped in front of a van one block away from the court 

"Nancy and I will just grab some soft drinks in the near store. Anything you wanted us to buy? You two wait us here okay?.

Ryle smirked."I know what you're up to."

"Wha---C'mon,bro---"

"You're trying to set me up with her." Ryle then looks at Lisa disgustedly.

"What?Of course not!" Jun in denial.

"Are you insulting me, BRO," Ryle says full of sarcasm. "You think I'll let myself get hooked up with the daughter of a mere janitor? Let's go,Nancy!"pulls her sister away.

"Call me Jun." Nancy whom doesn't seems to care at all.

"I told you, Ryle is a douchebag." Jun said in a loud voice while Ryle and Nancy have'nt still got far.

"I want to go home,Jun." Lisa says while trying to hold her tears not to fall.

"What? Are you gonna cry? Don't! Save your tears to the person who is worth crying for." Jun puts her arm over Lisa's shoulder. "Come on, I'll take you to your home"

"He'll see.Someday..." Lisa whispers.

Jun laugh."You'll become beautiful? and make him regret? 

"What's wrong with that?" 

"As if!" Jun laughs again.
