As she made her way to her hotel room, she noticed a yellow post-it note on the door from afar. Once she arrived at the door, she smiled to herself upon seeing the familiar handwriting. She plucked it from the door excitedly and began to read the note quietly:

 

'We had a long day but you never stopped looking as beautiful

as the first day we met. How do you manage to do it?'

Joohyun: Great stage today! Whose idea was that?

Junmyeon: It’s past midnight, Joohyun-ah lol

                 That happened yesterday

Joohyun: Shut up…

              Just answer my question properly :P

Junmyeon: Oh, you know… the company… the managers…

                 Choreographers...

        As it has become a custom, trainees leave anonymous notes for one another to show support during Christmas. Though he knew many of the trainees’ handwriting – many of which he knew were male trainees – there was one note that caught his attention today. He held the note for quite some time – appreciating every word – unaware that the person responsible for it was watching him shyly from around the corner.

“Junmyeon-ah, you look so cool on stage! Hang in there!”

Joohyun: Nervous

              We’re singing one song and it feels like we’ll be up there for an hour

Junmyeon: Lol it’s okay

                 What are you doing right now?

Joohyun: Resting

Junmyeon: Have you eaten yet?

Joohyun: A little…

Junmyeon: I heard there’s lots of snacks outside

                 There’s ramyun too! I’ve been craving that a lot lately

                 Do you want to come join me?

                 I promise not to tell a word to your managers 😉

Joohyun: I don’t know if that’s wise…

              To eat ramyun, I mean

Junmyeon: If you don’t want to eat the whole thing, we can share it!

                 I’ll make it and you can come get the rest once it’s ready

Dearest Junmyeon,

        Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how precious our lives are and how much of how we feel is kept inside. Somewhere, buried deep, I’ve kept quiet about those feelings that I have. To shelter myself from harm, I have to endure and keep things to myself. But, somehow, you’ve changed that part of me.

        You whose smile is as warm as the sun. Whose words flow as if it were water. Whose heart is made of gold. You have indeed changed me and I cannot think of any other way to express my gratitude towards you except for this letter.

        This is a testament to how much of my heart you have captured and I hope that you will accept me for all that I am. Though I lack in a lot of ways, I’m hoping that you can help fill the void in order to complete me.

“Good luck on your debut stage, Junmyeon-ah!”

        The note was lying on the ground along with numerous others scattered all over the floor. The after effects of a night of celebration. He knew it was from the mysterious female trainee. He had received countless more from her after the very first note. He picked it up, reached for his wallet from his back pocket and placed it inside. As he turned around to leave the practice room, he met eyes with the “pretty trainee” that all of s talked about endlessly. She blushed as she noticed him looking right at her. Instinctively, she bowed her head and left immediately without saying a word.

Junmyeon: I’m outside

Joohyun: I can’t believe you

              I told you not to come

Junmyeon: I really want to see you

Joohyun: We saw each other just a few hours ago

               It’s fine

               Go home and rest

Junmyeon: I’m not leaving

                 You have a flight in a couple of hours

                 I know that

                 I have to see you off

                 You know I won’t take no for an answer

                 …

                 Besides, I brought ramyun

Joohyun: ......... I`ll buzz you in

        He could feel his heart pumping out of his chest. His cheeks felt warm and his hands shook nervously. Standing in front of him was a sight that surpassed what he has learned to expect from her.

        She was a vision in white. Like a fairy tale that has come to life. None of the words he had written the night before could possibly add up to the feelings that were building up inside of him. And, just like that, he had crumpled up the pages that he held tightly.

        “I love you,” he started off nervously, “I don’t know when and I don’t know how… but I know why I love you.”

        Tears started to form around her eyes as she listened attentively to him. He held her hands to comfort her and to stop himself from getting overwhelmed.

        “There was a time back then when I worried about what I lacked as a performer,” he continued, “You said then that you felt the same way too and I grew quiet. I didn’t tell you then, but, I want you to know now that I was thinking about how much your words meant to me. Because every day that I fell apart since then, you picked me up. You waited. You listened. You were walking the same path as I was.”

“And today, in front of all the people that we love… I vow to be that person for you as well,” he smiled at her, “I will walk beside you. Hold your hand. Listen to your every word. Love you unconditionally without asking for anything in return. I owe that much to you for accepting my heart and taking that chance on us. So I may not know exactly when or how I began to love you. But always know that the reason why I love you is because you gently cared for our friendship through the years and held on to our relationship up until now. And I hope that you never get tired of doing so. Because I will never get tired of it too.”
