Chapter One: The Cup
Idle WorshipYaebin’s eyes glaze over the glowing Cup that stands proudly in the center of the Great Hall, seemingly uninterested by its presence. And she isn’t. But she does occasionally allow her wandering eyes to pause on those individuals that have been approaching the Cup while throwing parchment of papers into it, no doubt with their names scribbled on them, allowing the flames to encaptivate and engulf them. Some walked away smugly, some uncertain, and Yaebin hopes the cup, or whoever decides who the champions will be, will be smart enough so that the latter wouldn’t be chosen. They wouldn’t last anyways, pity. Then again, this isn’t supposed to be a competition anymore, an inter-school bonding opportunity they stated to reason the re-appearance of the banned event, so it shall be.
“You don’t seem to be very pleased with the revival of this tournament.” Yaebin hears Nayoung before she sees her as Nayoung slides into the seat beside her, groaning as she does.
“Triwizard Tournament? Well, I do have my reservations about it but I suppose it should be pretty harmless with the revamping of rules and all, plus observing all the potential champions is kind of fun.” Yaebin shrugs her blond hair over her shoulders, glancing at her blank scrolls that have been sitting on the table for hours, untouched. They were meant to be filled three hours ago. An all-nighter shall do the trick so it doesn’t really matter. “Besides, when will we ever get the opportunity to meet the students from Durmstrang Institude, and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic? It is pretty nice to have them over.”
Nayoung simply chuckles as she pulls out her own bulk of homework to do, “Getting politically correct here are we Yaebin? While it doesn’t seem like you, I agree. Though the additional work required is… a bit of a stretch on our side.”
Yaebin’s eyes flickers to the head girl badge that is pinned neatly on Nayoung’s collar, subtly reflecting mild blue light casted by the flames of the Cup. “Do you need help? You are Year 7 now and your work load will be overwhelming on top of that. Wait, I’m not doubting your abilities but-” “Yaebin ah, you do know I have my team of prefects right, and weirdly you’re part of it, Ravenclaw’s specifically. So don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of work to do,” Nayoung chuckles and flicks Yaebin’s prefect badge before patting her on her head as Yaebin pouts, visibly sinking into her seat, muttering under her breathe, “Bless my soul.”
