Chapter 5 Sooyeon has been continuously pacing around the spacious cottage in anticipation, waiting for her lover to arrive, the hours she waited seemed like forever, she'd even slept and awoken but Taeyeon hasn't arrived yet, finally after waiting a little more, the queen concluded her lover isn't showing up that night. She was exaggeratedly worried beyond necessary, as she thought Taeyeon might be sick or something, because she had never ditched her before, sometimes it was the queen who would meet Taeyeon at their secret meeting place waiting for her arrival, but today she had waited but Taeyeon didn't show up, definitely something must be wrong, she concluded to send out some of her servants to search for her lover. ”Mama, the cook isn't anywhere, we've searched and asked but we were told by her friend that she was gone with some of the higher maids of the king's court.” Miyoung explained. ”The king ordered her to be taken to him?” The queen enquired, fearing the worst. ”Not sure on that, but yes it seems she was summoned by his majesty.” Miyoung said. The queen felt a sudden rush of fear, discomfort and jealously rising and boiling in her blood but she decided to mask it for the given time until she could find knowledge on what was precisely going on. ”If she's safe then it's alright, you can leave now Miyoung, I want to be alone." Sooyeon dismissed her search party, when her door was locked the queen sat on her bed and different uncomfortable thoughts invaded her mind. Meanwhile, Taeyeon had reached the cottage but found no one there, she knew the queen must have waited for her but left because she was taking a while to arrive, Taeyeon felt bad and wanted to leave, when she saw a letter meant for her, it was resting on the small single bed they usually warm. 'My love, I guess we won't be meeting tonight, and I terribly miss you, I hope you're not sick, I don't know what I'll do if you're sick, please stay healthy. I love you.' Taeyeon read the note, her heart clenched by the thought of hurting the queen's feelings, Taeyeon is not only cheating on her lover, but she is with the lover's own husband, the king. Although in her defense, it wasn't actually cheating since being a concubine is part of the norms but she was already in a relationship with the queen even before becoming the king's concubine, this may be considered cheating, and knowing so well how possessive and jealous the queen is, Taeyeon decided to hide her relationship with the king for the time being until she was able to know what to do with all these. In frustration, she threw the note in the fireplace before returning back to the palace, and as silently as she left, she returned to her now chambers and laid beside the king, but that night Taeyeon couldn't close her eyes as her mind is filled with thoughts on what to do. ~~~ It was morning, the time Sooyeon has been waiting for to see her lover coming through the door to present her breakfast, she couldn't actually wait for that but then instead her breakfast was brought by a different maid, if she remembered clearly; the young maid is also the girl she saw with her lover during the banquet, she was Taeyeon's friend Soonkyu. ”Mama.” Greeted Soonkyu, bowing deep. ”Where's Taeyeon?” Sooyeon asked worriedly with a frown as she glanced over the maid's shoulder. ”She has not been seen since she was taken by a group of the king's maids but the rumors circulating around the palace said she is become the king's concubine, i was sent here by my mother as her replacement.” Soonkyu said her head still down, she wasn't making spiteful slanderous statement against her friend, she was only stating the truth, she doesn't even have the slightest idea of the affair between the queen and her best friend. ”What?” The queen asked, eyes as wide as a saucer, while her face reddened with anger, screaming danger. ”That's what everyone is saying my queen, and the story is true beyond question.” Soonkyu confirmed. In a state of uproar, the queen stormed out of her room, rushing towards her husband's chambers with her maids worriedly tailing behind her, however she was stopped by the eunuch that was guarding the door. ”Mama. You cannot go in, the king is busy, your majesty should return later.” He announced in respect. ”What? You're reveling to me that I cannot see my own husband, the king?” the king word wasn't necessary but she needed to remind him of her status in the palace. The eunuch bowed even deeper. ”I'm sorry, mama but the king gave his instruction.” ”Get out of my way now.” She instructed but he didn't even budge, situations like this always dreaded him regarding whose order to follow. ”Do you have a sudden death wish? Because I'll generously grant it.” This time he went all the way to his knees and prostrated in front of the queen. ”Forgive me, mama but this is the king's instructions.” The eunuch stood his ground, the queen ordered her guards to get him out of her way and she went ahead to barge into the king's room. Shocked and confused, the queen turned back and ordered for him to be released. ”Where is my husband?” She impatiently asked him, the dangerous threat and fire he saw in her eyes made him talk even if he didn't intend to, as the king has ordered for it to remain confidential until the necessary rites were performed. ”He's at the concubines chambers, forgive me, my queen.” He bowed deeply once again. Sooyeon's heart began beating rapidly as she headed for the chambers she was informed her husband was, trying her best to control her over heating anger. The queen walked up to the door and stopped, she could hear some weird sounds coming from within and her blood boiled continuously, picturing her husband screwing her lover, she was furious but decided to be reasonable and knocked or in more specific words banged on the door as hard as she could. It yielded result because in a matter of seconds the door flew open and standing before her is the face and almost body of the person she missed the most. The queen noticed Taeyeon was covered in sweats and she opened to speak but no words came out. "What are doing here?” Came a voice from behind her lover, she changed the destination of her eyes to the voice that just spoke, still open but no words are forthcoming.
