Description

Miss, you should not sit on the edge. It's dangerous. A small yet strong voice called out from behind. Male. Probably in his early 30 to mid-30's. '

Miss, huh? You must be from the East Asian plate. Officer if I am not wrong...., I continued without looking behind going into a monologue with no one in particular, looking at the vast dark expanse ahead, that would change once again tomorrow.

From where I sat, one could see nothing but true black, the waves crashing in the near distance-loud yet very calm. There were no more container ships or naval ships for that matter. The world was now a smaller more compact land mass, a super continent.  With decrease in the variety of climatic conditions and isolation of species, and reduced variety of flora and fauna-including humans on both counts, it was no longer hard for one to recognize where the other was from. It was a given that you could recognize people by their voices and some by their footsteps.

Yes I am. Infact I am Korean. Miss you should consider coming back now. The voice though now relaxing, started coming closer. I could not risk anything, I'd been warned being a scientist meant keeping up my guard all the time. Moreover it was time to move to the bunkers, the lights were going to be pulled out.

Yes officer! Getting up abruptly I my heels only to crash my face in a hard chest and into the rough arms of the officer.

Miss! Are you alright? I apologize I should not have been so close, the hands now steadying me slowly pulled me away from the land's edge towards the lights.

Still shaken, I got out of his hands only when my combat boots hit the gravel of our base. Everyone was almost in, except for the few night officers posted for the bi-annual change in plates, which included this kind officer I guessed, otherwise who'd have permission to stay out like a rebel.

Of course, except me. And..him.

Foreword

Hey all! so the story revolves around the OC who is an anthropologist and archaeologist on Base 1, the only remaining research team with 10 researchers from across what once was the world, but now a single land mass- a supercontinent. Set in the future, when time seems frozen, except for bi-annual changes in the tectonic plates, where land is slowly falling into the massive seas, the story revolves around the interaction between the researchers and their sole protectors- the Force 9 (more about them later, or as the story progresses). Age is now literally a luxury and you do not know when was the last time you looked a day older than you did when the big bang happened. There were only a few humans, even lesser than the population of Antartica at one time, or atleast you thought so, until your Base 1 team started moving about collecting information about what was remaining in the world as you once knew it as.

The story would be an interactive model between you and Force 9, your team's hired protectors.
