Tips for writing a story
Tip 1:
The first thing I usually do is to come up with an idea. For example if you have some characters in mind but you have no idea what to write about, you could look for some writing prompts on google. Of course you don’t have to stick to that writing prompt. You can use your creativity to write about whatever you like. A writing prompt can either be the main idea behind your story or just be a minor part of the story. It’s up to you how you want to use a writing prompt.

Tip 2:
If you have an idea but don’t know how to work out that idea, you could set a goal of 500 words for example. Write as much as you can come up with. Usually when you have written a couple of sentences your in the flow of writing and ideas will come up easily.

Tip 3:
When a writing prompt doesn’t work for you, you could use a plot generator. And again, you  can choose how much you want to stick to the results of the plot generator.

Tip 4:
I always like to come up with a plot/timeline first when I have an idea in mind. You could also just write a chapter and see what it will turn into or let the story be influenced by what people comment.

I prefer making a timeline when I can only think of a start.
For example:
  1. Chanyeol misses his train to work. He takes a bus to work. He sits next to Baekhyun which he gets to know during the bus drive.
  2. After work, Chanyeol goes to a cafe for a cup of coffee and a quick meal. It turns out that Baekhyun works there. They have a small chat.
  3. Chanyeol meets Baekhyun again at a party. They have a long conversation. Chanyeol gets drunk and Baekhyun takes him home to take care of him.
  4. And so forth

You can make a timeline for either just one chapter or you could make a timeline for the whole story where each number stands for a chapter. It’s up to you how detailed you want to make the timeline.

Tip 5:
If you think that a chapter is too short, try making a certain scene more detailed and if possible, give some hints or details that are crucial in your plot. Also, you could try using synonyms to avoid using the same words over and over.

Tip 6:
Try to write in advance if possible. In case you're busy with school or work and you don't have any time, you still have something to upload.

Tip 7:
I prefer updating once a week or when I'm really busy once in a two weeks. This also allows you to think about your chapter you've been writing on or just about the whole story itself. You might come up with additions or changes to the story.
