Description

It wasn't just Joohyun who Seulgi loved. Along with her wife, also came "Irene", a split personality who becomes a third person in their marriage. Seulgi knows that to love Joohyun is to love Irene too. This would be so much easier if Irene didn't hate her so, and could learn to love her too. Seulrene

Foreword

A/N: Hi all, so this is going to be an eventual fic one day with quite a heavy, sensitive Psychological topic about DID, or dissociative identity disorder, or what was once multiple personality disorder. I was a psych major and it’s my field of interest and I am using the whole Joohyun/Irene concept here since in ways Irene is a “persona” of Joohyun. This is a teaser and I really hope there’s some interest here for the full fic.

Seulgi could tell when Irene was present. It had become right away obvious when Joohyun was gone and “replaced” by Irene. She was so very different from her wife. Irene was cold, distant, and would barely acknowledge Seulgi on a good day. Joohyun’s warm, loving gaze, or bright and bubbly laughter seemed nonexistent whenever Irene was in control. Still, Seulgi greets her anyway.

“Good morning, Irene,” the monolid woman says politely. The raven looks at her with a blank expression. Everything about Seulgi bothers her. She can’t stand her voice, smile, charms, and even on some level her kindness irks her. Irene has no idea what Joohyun sees in this woman. Surely, she could have chosen anyone else to marry and commit to. Seulgi is currently staring at her. Irene wonders why at first, but then realizes to what she’s looking at. Seulgi is gazing at the ringless finger. Where is her wedding ring?

“Where’s your wedding ring?” She gently takes her hand.

“I’m not married to you, Joohyun is.” Irene yanks her hand away. Whenever she is in control she makes sure to take the ring off. It’s not her fault Joohyun keeps putting it back on every chance she gets. Once she had made her presence known to Seulgi. She hoped the monolid woman understood the reality of the situation. That she and Joohyun were two separate people. They were not the same. She was her own person, and had her own thoughts and feelings separate from Joohyun. She is Irene, and not her beloved, precious, wonderful, Joohyun.

“You are a part of her.” Seulgi softly speaks.

“I’m not her. You don’t seem to get this. I’m not your wife.” Irene tries to walk away, but Seulgi wraps her in a tight hug.

“Let go.”

“No,” Seulgi denies. She has spoken to a few psychiatrists. Joohyun won’t be fine unless she can integrate with Irene and become whole. Irene needs to know she loves her too. She must understand that Seulgi knows in order to fully love her wife. She must also love this other side to her. Seulgi wants her to know that she will not give up on her.

“I won’t let you go.”

“I don’t want you,” Irene struggles in her hold.

“You are a part of Joohyun, and I love every piece of her.”

Irene tries to get Seulgi to let go. The taller woman has a stronger, but gentle hold. It makes Irene sick that she’s holding her so lovingly. Especially since she knows it is Joohyun she really wants.

“Well, I don’t love you. I don’t even want anything to do with you. It makes me physically sick when you try to touch me. I can’t stand to kiss you, or look into your eyes the way Joohyun does. Get off of me,” She elbows Seulgi in the stomach to get her off. Seulgi holds back her tears. Irene hates her for some reason that she doesn’t understand. She can’t worry about it now. It is more important that she remains strong. Her Joohyun is still in there no matter what sort of control Irene has.

“I love you, Irene.”

The shorter woman laughs bitterly. It is the most ridiculous thing she can hear. Seulgi loves Joohyun and not her. The person she loves is the true person, and not her. Irene is just an alter. She could never be the real thing.

“You love Joohyun.”

“You are…”

“I’m not,” she shakes her head. “I’m not her. She’s the one that loves you. She’s the one who wants you. Joohyun is the one who aches to be apart from you. I…” Irene is cut off by soft, pink lips touching her own. This is not what she wants. Joohyun wants this, and she isn’t Joohyun. The shorter woman goes limp in her arms, and waits for Seulgi to finally end the kiss. When she does the monolid woman caresses her face.

“Hyun,” she whispers hopefully. There are times when she can bring Joohyun back. She hopes to see that familiar, warm gaze of her wife. She is only disappointed when she’s met with cold eyes once again.

“I’m not your Joohyun, and I will never be. I want nothing to do with you, Kang Seulgi.”

A/N: This is the end of the teaser and I have a lot of ideas I would love to explore in the full story. So if you guys liked this at all I’d really like to know. Thanks
