The Tales behind the Red Wine

It was one of those nights; jazz is playing, glass clicking and everyone in their own world. The place was busy as usual, full of clients who is either comes to enjoy their night or run away from their own problems. A woman comes in and seated one of the tables, alone. She is well dressed; black dress with a fur white coat. Dark red lips and her hair curled behind her ear. Someone like her may seem she coming for a date when reality she is here to tell tale.

“Hello, my name is Rose and you’re personal ear for tonight” the waiter introduces herself. The client bow as she began to order her wine for starter.

“May I have a bottle of Pinot Noir” She requested. The waiter went to the back to grab the wine of choice, two glass cups and bucket of ice. They arrive back, preparing everything right front of the client; setting the two cups, opening the bottle and pouring mid away of the cup. The client thanks the waiter as she began to sip her glass. Soon the cup became 3 as the client soon drowns herself to her tale.

“Trust is like a paper. Once it’s crumbled, it can’t be perfect again… that’s what my mother said” She nonchalantly said as she took a sip of her wine.

“I always thought the person I have cared, loved and trust would do the same” She sadly smiles.

“I guess I was wrong...”

“The phone number is not available, please call later” for the 6th time, she called; it went to the same automatically voice.

“Jong up…” She whisper as she place her phone down; it was 3rd time he vanish in thin air. Naomi couldn’t help but feel there is something wrong. The unanswered calls, the frequent leaves and more important the distant she felt between her and him. It all started with couple months ago when he and his friends went to their boy’s night out. He didn’t come for a week when he left; no message or no calls. When he came back, he came with a cold expression she never seen before. When she ask where he been, he coldly pass her like she was ghost and went straight to their shared room. From that day, whatever happens, Jong Up was not the same anymore. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she hugs her legs; she didn’t like it at all.

“Jong Up… Jong Up…” She cried, calling his name. Wishing the man she once love and knew would come next to her, pull her in his arms. Giving that warmth she missed instead the cold, lonely feeling she has now. Soon the phone ring, quickly she check only her dismay it was one of her friends instead the man she needed.

“Hello” She answered.

“Naomi! Come to YWF, quick!” Her friend said.

“Isn’t that some club?” Naomi questioned.

“Just get your out here! There something you want to see” Her friend hanged up, leaving Naomi lost. Trying to think a reason why her longtime friend would call her to a club so urgently. She got up, gotten her keys and left her place. She arrive the place where tons of people were in line, as she to the entrance where the bouncer stop her. He looks down over her, giving a look ‘you’re not dress appropriately’. Before she could give her side of the story, a hand appear on his shoulder.

“Don’t worry Hoseok, she with me” The bouncer look her the girl and then Naomi, giving an okay for her to enter.

“Jen, what’s going on?” Naomi enters as she was pull by her friend inside the club where the room soon turns to a wild party. A lot of people were grinding each other; guys were by the bar while the girls were dancing ually to get their attention.

“I called you because I wanted you see this yourself before you come at me for it“Jen pull her deeper as she brought Naomi to where herself couldn’t believe. Right front her is Jong Up and a girl kissing each other like their life was depending.

“N-no, that c-can’t be-e” Naomi broke down as the man she loved was with another woman.

“Like I said, I want you to see this before you could be in denial. At first, I thought I was just seeing things but I wasn’t” Jen explain as she patted Naomi back.

“i-I need t-to Leave” quickly she turn back, out the club and into her car. She sat there as she punches the wheel. She couldn’t believe what she is seeing. She wanted this all be a dream, a bad dream where she just wake up and have Jong Up beside her, asking her “ baby, did you have bad dream? Come here and give me hug so I can make those bad dreams go away”.

Naomi came in her apartment, went straight to the bed room, grabs her large suitcase and began putting all her clothes in. Once that done, she then grabs all her things along with it. She didn’t care where she was going or the time it was. She wanted to leave as soon as she can. She zips her stuff up and headed out the door. Before she could leave, she spotted a photo with her and Jong Up smiling together, grabbing hold to it and out of anger, she threw it across the room. All the worries, the stress and the love she pour for him was useless now. She looks down her finger which had the promise ring he gave her.

“I wanted to give you this ring” He surprises her, putting it on her finger.

“J-Jong Up” Naomi choked up as she saw the small sliver band wrap around her finger.

“I love you, Naomi! This ring shows you how much I see us in the future” He confesses as he pulls her in his arms.

Naomi hold the dear ring on her hand as she broke down again as she remember the words he told her.

“I guess there no future between us” Placing it on the table, she grabs her suitcase and out the door. There no regret, no mistake or no second chances.  Out the door she went, out the love she once had for him.

“It has been 2 year since vanished. After that, I change my number, move to a new city, change jobs and never looked back. Today would be our 3rd year together if that never had happen. “She grip her cup as a tear rolled down her face.

“After all that, all the years I vanish from him, I still love him “The client confesses. She ever wonders if Jong up did ever reach her, trying to find her but with these 2 years, it looks like he made a choice.

“Well thank you for your service” Naomi place her empty glass as she stood up. Her waiter follows as they join her to the entrance.

“Tell me, what you think I should do” The waiter stops and gave a response.

“From the tale you told, my advice is have fate tell. From tonight and so on, If your fate and his fate cross each other then it mean something but if fate decided something else then the answer should be clear” The waiter as they open the door. The client chuckle from the answer she received.

“Let see about it, Thank you very much and Goodnight” Naomi bid farewell as the waiter bowed.

“Remember, our doors are open like our ear are so” Naomi smile as she left the place.

A week pass when Naomi visit the Rose, it been awhile she had someone listen to her problems. As she walk down to Han River, she let her thought run free as she spread her arms out. Work was getting busier as she had no time relax. As she closed her eyes and walk, she left the air breeze around her; letting the cold air blow all her worries out.

“Watch out!” Before Naomi could open her eyes, she was hit by someone as both rolled down the hill. Once it came to the end, Naomi laying on top the stranger chest.

“Ughh, ouch!” Naomi looks up to see the man brushing the grass from him.

“I’m sorry-“

“It’s okay, I was so focus I didn’t an angel coming in my way” Naomi could help laugh on the cheesy pick up line.

“I’m guessing that hint to keep going” The stranger said as both Naomi and himself pull apart. He was well built, tall and has a cute smile.

“Hello, I’m Hoseok “He extended his hand, Naomi couldn’t help feel like she met the man before. Then it hit her, he was the bouncer at the club.

“Naomi and I think I seen you before” She blurt out. He look at her confuse but remember what she meant.

“Oh, I think you seen me at my old job at that club, correct” Naomi nodded.

“Not many recognize me as the bouncer then again I guess that a good sign that you know I could protect you” again with the sly flirt. Naomi couldn’t help but laugh; she never had anyone be so open flirt like him.

“Oh really?! It a hard to miss someone likes you”

“Believe me, I seen a lot of club goers and honestly It quite funny to see them out in broad daylight” He joked as he stood up. As Naomi about to do the same thing, a sharp appears as she held her ankle. Hoseok crouch down as he took a look of her ankle; it was already swollen. He then turn around, facing his back to her.

“Get on!” Naomi hesitated but accepts his offer. Hoseok grab hold of her as he stood up and carry her to the nearest convenience store.

“Sorry…” He said as he follows the trail.

“Don’t be, it mostly my fault. If I hadn’t be dumb to walk with my eyes close then we wouldn’t crash other”

“I don’t want to say this but I’m actually happy we crash so I could have a chance to talk someone beautiful like you” Naomi felt her heart pounding hard on her chest. It has been awhile she felt something like that. Then she remembers what the waiter’s said to her:

If your fate and his fate cross each other then it mean something but if fate decided something else then the answer should be clear

“Fate is something” she mumbles as she lean on his back and smiled. May be this was supposed to be like this.
